Mason was far away from Ruby, but was following her voice. He was limping heavily, not of of breath at all. Just hurting. Everywhere. He stopped at the tree and climbed up it. As much was he wanted to kill, or at least hurt, Jace, he had to let Ruby do it. He felt she needed to more than him.

[frost.]

Jace Lee: District 1
Jace let out his pained breath as Ruby found him. He slowly sat up, clenching his jaw as his nose flared slightly from the pain. He didn't speak at first, simply looking at the ground before Ruby's feet. "What do you mean it's kind of hard?" He asked, keeping his gaze to the ground so if she was to strike him, he wouldn't see it coming. His mind flashed back to the thought of when he first found his fathers old hunting books he had left behind. He hadn't known much of his father as a kid since his mother didn't let anyone know he had died in the games.

Ruby took a cautious step forward, wary of Jace. "Well, considering what I have in mind for you," she trailed off. Ruby cracked a smile. "I guess you can use that smart brain of yours to guess." Her voice held a sort of mocking tone to it as she tried to get into Jace's head. She looked over the boy's shoulder, snorting an illhearted laugh at what she saw. "I'm guessing that's mommy and daddy," she said in the same mocking tone. "Too bad they'll have to watch their baby die right in front of them." Seeing that Jace didn't have any tricks up his sleeves, Ruby advanced forward and shoved him over, twisting his arms behind his back tightly. This was going to hurt. "You get what you give," she whispered in his ear, slowly drawing the knife which jutted out of his shoulder into her hands.

I barley recognize the feeling of Will near me, and I slip in and out of consciousness. In my last breath, I open my eyes. "Thank you.." I rasp softly. "For being my ally." My eyes flutter closed and I slip into darkness for the last time.

Paul
I run to Christina. "Christina... Christina..." I murmur and kneel down by her. She is covered in blood, but I embrace her anyway. "Are you okay? You can't die... You can't..." I say desperately.

Jace Lee: District 1
Jace looked up at Ruby, listening as she spoke. However, what she said didn't bug him. He didn't move as she walked around him and grabbed his arm, twisting it back around behind his back. He let out a cry of pain as the dagger dug into his skin more after he moved. "What is your point here? If you're going to kill me, do it." He grunted with a clenched jaw, his nose flaring from the pain again. "My parents knew I was dead the second I was born, anyway." He added quickly, hoping the girl was going to end this quickly. "What's your name anyway?" He asked, wanting to know the name of the tribute who killed him before he died.

"Whatever you say, darling," she laughed, raising her arm once more to kill the boy. She wondered which would hurt worse - his liver with a slight twist, or multiple jabs to his lungs? Ruby decided on both, but held her arm in midair as he began speaking again. She could not believe her ears. She scoffed, bringing her knife back into Jace's freshly made wound. Ruby jerked his arm roughly, turning him to face her. "What the hell is wrong with you, Jace?" she hissed, a look of obvious disgust on her face. How could anyone love her, try to kill her, and then act as though they didn't even know her name? If her one and only knife wasn't sticking out of his shoulder right now, she would have slashed him for it. Then, a horrifying thought creeped over her. She took his head in her hands, shaking him roughly. "Jace, you know my name. What's my name?" she commanded in a quavering voice. "Jace, say my name!"

Jace Lee: District 1

Jace let out another cry as she twisted his arm roughly. After she spoke, he took a second to speak. "I don't know you!" He yelled at her, tearing away from her grip and quickly grabbing his dagger, holding it up between himself and the girl. He slowly stood and watched her closely, as well as the boy out of the side of his eye. "I don't know who you are, but you don't know me. Neither of you do." He spoke firmly, backing up to where he could see the two tributes in front of himself. Keeping his right arm propped up against his bloody shirt and chest, he continued to back away, keeping his eyes on the two of them. "You don't know me." He repeated.

Ruby didn't want to believe her theory at first. She didn't, up until the moment she noticed that Jace had genuinely forgotten her name. She looked at him blankly, wondering if he would have attacked her if it hadn't been for his loss of memory. She took a step towards him, her mind racing as she tried to sort this out. The day of the parade. Jace had acted out and got dragged away by the peace keepers. Ruby didn't see him until the next day, and even then he wouldn't tell her what had happened to him. She glanced up, noticing Mason was there as well. "Ruby," she said calmly. This Jace was liable to attack at any second if they weren't careful. "My name is Ruby and I'm from District One, just like you, Jace." She turned to look at Mason. "That's my friend, Mason. He's from District Nine. I promise you know us. You just have to think." Though it wasn't evident, a keen ear could hear just a hint of pleading on Ruby's voice. She wanted more than anything for what she thought true to not be so. "My name is Ruby," she repeated in a smooth, relaxing tone as she tried to get him thinking.
