Ruby dived onto the ground. Knives were being thrown at her from two directions now, and she was not going to let it stop her from personally ripping open Jace's throat. With a grunt of effort, she pushed off the ground and took off at a dead run after him, screaming as she hurled two of her three and only knives. She was frankly done playing games, not to mention the fact she was more bloodthirsty animal than human at this point. She heard footsteps echoing whined her and took a split second to catch a glimpse of who it was, relieved it was her one and only ally. "I'm going to kill you, Jace!" she shouted, within close range of him now.


Christina::
Tears began streaming from Christina's eyes and she managed to finally stand, now favoring her foot. The ankle was now swollen twice its original size, which she could guess was not a good sign. She just wanted to get out of the hell hole, and as soon as possible. Getting a rush of adrenaline, she desperately began jogging out of the area. She stopped, taking in a ragged breath as she did so before pushing through at a faster run. The pain had temporarily subsided due to the chemicals flowing through her blood. But as she kept running, she felt herself slam into another body. Elspeth. "No, please," she began, already going straight to pleading for her dear life.

Mason growled loudly, stopping and pulling out his bow and arrow. He might not be a good shot at the moment, but at least Jace would get hit. He quickly shot three arrows towards him, just hoping he hit him some how.

Jace Lee: District 1
Jace turned and ran away from Ruby as Mason loaded his bow. He couldn't take the two of them, he decided. His heart raced as he sprinted back towards the tree cover. In an instant, he felt searing pain. Ruby had managed to hit him in his right upper shoulder, and Mason had skimmed his left thigh. He hadn't heard a word the girl may have yelled at him, the wind whistling in his ears as he managed to make it to the forest. Without stopping, he grabbed his bag with his name on it and took off down the path, hoping he had lost the two of them.

Paul
I mutter and dash after Christina, throwing a knife at Elspeth. My heart is slamming in my chest, and I'm constantly taking glances all around me. I grab another knife from my makeshift belt and aim it to her, my breath heaving. I'm scared, more than I've been since my name was called at the reaping.

Elspeth
I duck, but the knife that Paul threw hits my left arm. I groan softly in pain but i grit my teeth and hold a knife to Christina's throat. I knew she was stronger than me, and could kill me, but either way. I brace myself to move, as Paul would hit me again before I could do anything else, or so I presumed. "Paul, you were ok. You wanted to save a young child such as myself. Christina, why have you come to this?" I try to move away backwards from the pair, my arm throbbing and bringing tears to my eyes.

Ruby grinned satanically as she heard her knife lodge into Jace's flesh, and watched Mason's arrows fly by her head. The smile faded into a scowl as Jace disappeared into the cover of the forest, and she briefly remembered the bags. "Mason, the bags," she called back, her voice cracking as she breathed heavily. She took off again, hopping over a fallen log as though it were nothing. "Where are you?" she shouted, listening to her own words echo. Of course Jace wasn't stupid enough to answer. But as Ruby stood there, searching intently for any sign of the boy, she heard the sound of a twig giving way to someone's footsteps on the path to her right. She kept up her devilish smirk and took off down the same path, every footstep she made crashing noisily through the vague underbrush.


Christina::
Christina couldn't think and she couldn't hear, let alone breathe. She could barely even see through the thick, salty tears that clouded her vision. "No, please, I'm begging you," she said again, pushing the last huff of air from her lungs as she screamed the words out. She saw a knife sticking out from Elspeth's shoulder, and didn't even care where it had come from. Christina reached up and used all of her strength to pull the knife from the young girl's shoulder, slashing it out in front of her blindly. She hoped and prayed it would hit, in desperation it would give her a chance to live.

Elspeth
I bend over in pain as she rips the knife out of my shoulder. Salty tears come to my eyes, making it so I can't see. I stumble backwards, but she hits me again with the knife Paul threw. In the stomach. I scream and double over, bleeding heavily. My breath comes in shallow gasps and I fall as my vision tumbles into darkness.

Jace Lee: District 1
Jace continued running, his left leg beginning to fail him as it went numb from the cut. Ruby's knife remained in his right shoulder. Soon, the landscape began to move downhill, forcing him to slow so he would not fall. Despite his efforts, he tripped over a covered tree root going downhill and tumbled to the bottom. He slowly sat up, careful of his injured arm. Grabbing the knife he dropped, he quickly moved over into the brush several feet off his original route, laying down flat. He fumbled with the black bag with his name on it, deciding if he was to die, he wanted to see what was inside. Pulling out the small silver container, he recognized the cream to heal his wounds. Along with it lay one simple thing. A picture of his mother and father. His jaw clenched as he studied the picture and tried to stay quiet.

Will saw Elspeth hit by a knife. He didn't see who threw it. He noticed that she wasn't dead yet, and ran out into the open towards the girl. "Elspeth!" He called as he ran. "Elspeth!" he ran and knelt by her side, aware of Christina and Paul, but not acting as if they weren't there. "Elspeth, don't die. Don't die." He said quietly. You could tell that he was sad, although he wasn't crying. He wasn't in love with Elspeth, one of his goals in the games was to not participate in all the 'love triangie nonsense,' as he called it. But Elspeth was his ally, and had grown to be his friend. Will noticed the carving of a deer that he had given her, he had tied a string around it and made it a necklace for her. He also noticed that it was stained red with her blood. He looked at the wound, but immediately looked back at her face. Will couldn't stand the sight of blood, but he could stay conscious for Elspeth.

"I have them... Most of them. I dropped one because my arm." He murmured, stuffing the rest of the bags in his pack. He put it on his back along with the quiver and bow, "I hate him." Mason breathed quietly.

Ruby gained speed as she sprinted downhill, her smile growing wider. She had been hot on Jace's tail for over a mile, and this was it. The moment she had wanted so badly. This was something a corner of her heart had been craving for so long now - to kill Jace. She began to slow as she lost sight of his tracks, which seemed to tumble all the way down the hill. She slowed to a walk, eventually stopping completely to examine a spot of blood on the ground. Ruby kneeled over next to it. It was fresh. She stood up, cackling evilly. "So sweet of you," she taunted. "I knew you would betray me. It was all a matter of time. Guess I shouldn't have for my hopes up." Ruby began searching, retracing the bloodied tracks that were printed in the rocks until they let off of the trail, moving into the forest. Ruby smiled, crashing into the thin forest. There was Jace. "I guess this is it," she said, drawing her knife back. "I'll to make this not hurt, but I guess it's kind of hard."


Christina::
Christina scrambled off the ground as soon as the pressure gave way, her eyes zeroing in on the one person who she recognized as safe. "Paul," she bellowed, limping away from the dying, bleeding girl as fast as possible. She was halfway to her ally, and had her heart set on making it to him.
