Welcome to the A circuit. Here are the upper echelons of horse sport; these riders, these horses,
they train, they practice like mad, desperate for the success they've worked so hard - and paid
so much - to achieve.
On the circuit, there's drama. Oh, so much drama. There is cutthroat competition, sabotage,
cheating and enemies. But that's not all; there is also friendship, the joy of victory, and, most
of all, the unspoken bond between horse and rider, a bond so deep that nothing could sever it.

Image

Image
Now, you have the chance to take the reins, step into the irons, and ride to what could possibly
be victory. You ride at Virtuoso Farms, a top-rate equestrian center; the trainer, Phil Wilson,
chose the name "Virtuoso" because it means "a person who is highly skilled, and Phil, despite
his apparent arrogance, is right in his assumption; he is renowned as one of the finest hunter
jumper trainers in the country, and is well known on the circuit for both his successfulness &
his difficulty to work with.

Image

Image
A stable like this only takes the best, which is why your horses walk under sheets emblazoned
with the barn colours of Virtuoso, why your tack trunk has a matching cover. Of course, you
could have, like so many other riders on the circuit, bought your way in; indeed, you aren't
exactly poor. Just look at your horses! But you, along with seven other young riders, have a
place at the top of Phil's training program - among his best. The seven of you don't compete
against each other, fortunately, so you will be like teammates; however, drama will develop
and friendships will still be made. And in the end, do you have what it takes to be a winner?

[ rules ]

1 ;; all of Tess's rules apply. This should go without saying, no matter what.
Keep it all PG-13, guys, and keep the violence to a minimum. The only way
I can see this being a problem is in terms of falls, etc. let's keep the gore to
a minimum with regards to this. Thanks.

2;; grammar. Please, please do your best with spelling, grammar, and all
other things you might learn in a very boring English lesson. This roleplay is
high literate, so you should be able to speak English properly. Which leads
into our next rule - bet you can't guess....

3 ;; this roleplay is high literate. In this capacity, I'm expecting that you're
capable of typing at least an average of two well-written, well thought-out
paragraphs per post. Now, notice I said I'm "expecting" this. Thing is, not
like most literate roleplays, I'm not expecting each and every post of yours
to be a five-paragraph essay. I just want you to be capable of writing said
essay; your average posts will probably be much shorter in cases of writers'
block and schedule conflicts. This is understandable; I just want you to be
able to write that much when the need arises. In fact, when you don't need
to write a ton, you shouldn't; sometimes, brevity is the soul of a good post.
Write well. I want to feel like I'm reading a book.

4 ;; because this roleplay is high literate, I want everything to look nice.
At the very least, make your font smaller or something. Your forms, which
I'm expecting you to make yourself, should look nice as well. I'm a terrible
example of this, as I'm not exactly an interior design expert over here, but
you get the picture.

5 ;; no perfect characters. Say hello to my biggest roleplay pet peeve, guys.
I hate it when the character is sweet, curious, intelligent, a good rider, blah
blah blah. People. Have. Flaws. The beauty of this kind of roleplay is that I
can, right off the bat, nail down some of your character's flaws for you. In
your forms, however, I'll allow you all the creative liberty you want: all that
is required is that your character somehow fits the small description I have
provided, that your form contains the relationships your character has with
their horses (ie, the assigned ones) and that it looks literate enough. Does
not have to have all the category things, it can just be a big paragraph.

6 ;;this being a horse/rider roleplay, there is another big issue: rider's skills.
For this reason, I've made people who are best at the three categories of the
circuit, hunter, jumper, and eq; the long and short of this is that, in jumpers,
riders have to be sharp, fast, and quick thinking, planning as they ride and
making decisions. They tend to be the best riders only, as jumpers go very
high and it can be tricky. Hunter riders, however, have a very difficult job, in
my opinion the hardest of all: they have to make decisions to fences and yet
stay out of the horse's way, as it's all about how good the horse looks. They
tend to be the quietest riders and are great at making it look effortless. An
equitation rider is all about the riding looking good. They tend to have great
form, and yet are very effective because they have to still get the distances.
The other riders - not the three who are "top" - are very good, but aren't as
good as these three and won't beat them in competitions.

7 ;; no whinging about anything; if I come up with a new rule, there's a good
reason for it and it's necessary. Also, if I don't allow you into the roleplay or I
kick you out, there's still a good reason; you probably weren't literate enough
or got into a fight in OOC or broke another of the rules. So... don't break 'em.

That is all.

At the top of Phil Wilson's crop of outstanding equestrians, there are six friends who've soared
into the very highest ranks of the sport; his protegees, the ones who command all of his focus.
and of whom he demands the best results, the best riding. Meet the stellar six....

Image

Hunters is a delicate division - the horse must glide, smooth, graceful, effortless around a
course with no time limits, only requirements for form - knees tucked and square, a gentle
expression with ears pricked, neck curved - and precision on distances. Hunter riders tend
to be quieter. It can be a challenge to stay out of the horse's way while still guiding them on
the course and getting them to perform. Jumps are typically natural looking and fairly solid,
with trees, bushes, logs, hay bales and natural-coloured poles, gates and boxes common.
Oxers aren't as wide, and are ramped. Courses are meant to been ridden more slowly, and
are usually outside lines and singles and diagonal lines, meaning they're pretty simple, not
including handy hunter courses - usually one per show - that have rollbacks or bending lines
and tests in them.

[ ash keane ] [ pg. ] [ friendly, peaceful, calm, sweet, spoiled, bratty, popular ]

Image

Jumpers is all about speed. Jumper riders tend to be the best of the bunch, as jumpers go
up the highest: Grand Prix, the Olympic level of showjumping. Jumpers is flying around a
course of massive jumps with agility, speed, and precision; missing a distance to a jump
could mean a rail and four faults, and taking a tight turn could mean missing a distance.
But taking a tight turn could also mean shaving time off the clock and avoiding time faults
or getting into the jump-off, the final round. Jumper riders tend to combine the skill of
equitation with bold decision making. Jumps are typically brightly coloured rails or walls,
sometimes with water jumps and often with obstacles such as triple oxers. Regular oxers
are wide and square. Courses are rife with tight turns and triple lines, rollbacks galore.

[ alexandra slade ] [ pg. 2 ] [ intelligent, sarcastic, cheerful, eccentric, arrogant, reckless, nerdy ]

Image

Equitation is a skill required for all horseback riding, but equitation divisions are judged
on the form and finesse of the rider. Riders are required to jump a course of hunter-like
fences - boxes, gates, flowers - and in a hunter style; slowly, organized and smooth. The
course, however, is ridden as a medal course, like a handy hunter - with rollbacks, which
is where one jump turns back on another, and bending lines, where two jumps don't line
up perfectly. There are also always tests, which can involve doing a jump at a controlled
hand gallop, trotting a fence, or halting straight after a jump.

[ laurel scott ] [ pg. 1 ] [ creative, smart, talkative, arrogant, selfish, vain, normal ]

Image

This rider is best at equitation, though not as good as [The Eq Rider].
[ soren alchezo ] [ pg. 2 ] [ partier, fun, zany, wild, spoiled, self-centered, popular ]

Image

This rider is best at jumpers, though not as good as [The Jumper Rider].
[ tristan fox ] [ pg. 1 ] [ moody, reckless, quiet, beautiful/handsome, cold, arrogant, normal ]

Image

This rider is best at hunters, though not as good as [The Hunter Rider].
[ open ] [ pg. ] [ casual about riding, rich, bold, fashionable, light-hearted, flirtatious, popular

I will play Phil to prevent confusion.

Virtuoso is, you can probably imagine, an extraordinary facility with the top-class amenities
available in the sport. The barn is heated, the viewing area has a giant flat screen TV and a
coffee bar, the stalls are large, spacious and airy, and both the footed arenas are huge, have
all-weather footing, and have a full course of jumps set at all times. Only the best for the top
of the sport, Phil Wilson and his protegees....

[ creative, smart, talkative, arrogant, selfish, vain, normal ]

meet our eq rider, 15 year old laurel scott - prodigy of equitation, lover of horses (obviously) and the reigning (no pun intended)
champion of the equitation circuit and the medal maclay for the nation. last year, her victory in the final came as a total shock
to all involved; this year, however, she's on top form, undefeated in every equitation class she's entered, even finals.
while her real prowess is in the eq ring, some of her horses, namely brighton, are also solid hunters, and she frequently cross
-enters between the two divisions.
As a result of the priveliged upbringing all of these kids have received, laurel has a slight tendency to be a little arrogant and
self-centered; don't worry, though. if you can get past this, you'll find that laurel is a very deep person despite her slight vanity;
she is clever, and extremely creative, a brilliant artist with a lot of skill and precision. also, to put the icing on the cake, she's
got a beautiful voice and often volunteers to sing the national anthem at horse shows, much to everyone's delight - often, the
volunteer does not have her talent, making it a bit awkward. laurel is talkative, but not in a shallow way; rather, she'll chat off
your ear about thoughts she has or ideas she thinks of, no matter how crazy, and, of course, about horses. like all horse show
riders, one of her favourite pastimes is to watch other classes and judge them for herself, excepting, of course, jumper classes
that aren't judged. laurel is quick to judge anyone who mistreats their horses, naturally; she also, however, will judge others for
smaller things, such as if their banner is crooked or if they set up their stalls without woodchips or landscaping at a aa show. As
was mentioned before, laurel can be somewhat vain.
laurel was raised in an upper-middle class family; to start her career, of course, she didn't have a horse, but took lessons from
the age of five. eventually, her parents bought her a pony, sara, who she loved dearly; she took the pony to pony finals with the
guidance of an inexperienced, young trainer, and they were third overall in the small greens. impressed, her trainer told her mum
and dad to find a better, more renowned trainer, which they did; she began training with phil wilson, and after another year in
the ponies, in which they were fourth overall in the division and laurel won the pony medal, laurel had outgrown her pony and was
ready to move onto a horse. her first horse was willow, who was green at the time; laurel and willow moved up through the ranks
in hunters, but willow wasn't super-competitive at the 3'6" level, being more comfortable at 3'. so laurel got chance, who took her
farther than any; one year after she bought him, she had won the medal maclay, the top equitation final in the nation for junior
riders 18 and under. this put her straight in the ranks for future olympic teams and glory, but right now, she's still only fifteen - a
young riding prodigy, having won the medal at just fourteen. while she doesn't rank nationally in the hunters aboard any of her
horses - excepting brighton, who is in the middle of the rankings usually as he's a very good hunter - she's consistently at the very
top of equitation lists. she's beginning to branch into the jumper ring a bit, hopefully one day aboard cody; for the meantime, her
horse addy is her main jumper mount, though they don't do very well since addy's not a jumper horse.
as for laurel's horses, well, the one she feels the most connection to is easily chance. a gorgeous, uncommon palomino warmblood,
chance is a skillful jumper with the scope to beautifully sail over four feet. his jump is correct, but not as tucked as most hunters,
as he's more of an equitation mount and his neck being higher allows for easier form over the jumps. he's smooth as silk to flat.
she also loves willow, her 3' horse, who she doesn't show very much anymore; just the occasional hunter class at 3', as willow is a
very good hunter even though she can't do the height for the medals that laurel does. laurel's newer horses include brighton, who
is, by all means, the best hunter of the five; his form over fences is impeccable. however, he can be quite silly at times, and she
has trouble getting him to focus. she doesn't show him in eq, as his tucked jump - while desired in the hunters - isn't good for the
eq ring. he has the scope for 3'9". another is addy, a paint cross whose flashy colour doesn't stop her from being a wonderful mount
for the 3'6" eq. she also cross enters sometimes in the jumpers, though she isn't very good at it. the final of her horses is the one
that is an enigma to her; cody, a flighty, nervous young thoroughbred who easily has the scope for the 4'6" jumpers but not, yet,
the presence of mind. against phil's wishes - he wanted an expensive warmblood or cross of one as laurel's first jumper - cody was
a rescue; after discovering that he had a talent for jumps by free-jumping, she began training him as a jumper. he needs a lot
more work, however.

TRISTAN FOX

__________________________________________________

PERSONALITY
// moody, reckless, quiet, handsome,
cold, arrogant, normal
tristan fox is, at first impression, quite a cold and
hostile looking person. he immediately seems to cut
himself off from everyone else because of his extreme
focus and determination to reach his goals, and because
of this, when talking to people he doesn't know very
well he can come off as quite arrogant and sometimes
even a little bit snobby, although once you really get to
know him tris really isn't arrogant at all, in fact a bit
self-conscious about his riding ability. he is a very quiet
young man and chooses his words carefully. he tends to
take a back seat when it comes to drama and doesn't like
to get involved, although half the time he seems to find
himself in trouble, or rather, trouble seems to find him.
well, tristan does tend to get into mischief a lot of the time,
and finds all sorts of random and quite humorous ways
to amuse himself and others, although he hates to be the
centre of attention. he does actually have a good sense of
humour, which most people overlook because of the sort
of hostile and rough look to his face and the way he comes
off to others when they first meet him.
being quite a complicated person to get along with, tristan
is not very vocal about his feelings and keeps many things
bottled up inside. he can be quite moody and short
tempered, and when he does go off in a bit of a mood he
just likes to spend some time by himself with his horses.
his horses are the number one place in his heart, and he
never does anything to hurt them. he is a reckless and
determined rider, although he always puts the animal before
him and he loves to have a strong bond with all of his horses.
they are often quite spoilt because of him. to put it simply,
tris prefers to be around animals rather than humans. he is not
the most social person, but he is mostly willing to get along
with people and he is especially loyal to his friends, however,
sometimes his determination to succeed can blind him.

OTHER
n/a
THE BASICS
tristan fox is a fifteen year old male
who was born in london, england on the fourteenth of
august. he almost always goes by the nickname of 'tris'
but if not, he is just 'tristan'. in the past he has been
called 'foxy' as a joke which he did not take very well.
long story short, just stick with 'tris'. he now lives near
the equestrian centre with his mother, father and older
    brother.

BACKGROUND
tristan has been a horse rider
all his life. growing up in north-east england, he has
always been exposed to the competition life linked in
with horses. his father was a professional rider, which
obviously means that tristan's family are generally quite
well-off and have enough money to have some luxuries
in life as well as maintain their horses. a talented jumper
rider, tristan put all of his time and effort in protecting
his sport, eventually getting to the top of his game. he
has endured broken bones, blood, sweat and tears to get
to where he is today, and finds himself lucky to have the
privilege of knowing all the right people to get him to the
top. even though there are still those much better than him,
tris is always working to improve.
he tries to have a close relationship with all his horses, and
is especially fond of 'hats off', his gorgeous fifteen year old
thoroughbred who he has owned since he was fourteen, after
hat was passed down after being owned by his father for many
years since the gelding was five. he also loves his other two
horses, rico and north, who he rides everyday and often has a
good laugh at their quirks and loves the challenge of all of his
horses. rico is very forward and it takes a lot to slow him down
and concentrate. north goes without saying: a stubborn mare
who takes a lot of encouragement to do as she's told, and of
course hatty who needs to be constantly reminded he has a job
to do, being the laziest horse in the yard he is the opposite of
rico and needs plenty of waking up.
