Emberflight peered up over the treetops. The sun was shining bright, and a light breeze rustled the leaves. He'd climbed a tall tree in pursuit or a bird. Sadly, the ginger tom missed--something that rarely happened while he was on the hunt. But when it came to battle, Emberflight had no idea what to do with his paws. Overcome by curiosity, he kept climbing until he reached the top. The bright orange warrior lifted his nose to the sky and breathed deeply, exhaling with a sigh of content. However, his peace was interrupted by an unfamiliar cry. Quickly, Emberflight scrambled down the tree and landed just in front of the lone she-cat. "Who are you? What's wrong?" He asked, trying to keep himself calm. Though she was not of MistClan, she was obviously distressed, and Emberflight was compelled to help.

The calico cat watched the two apprentices carefully as they each demonstrated their hunters' crouch. Both cats certainly knew what they were doing. She was impressed, even though this was a very simple move. "Good job," she praised. "I like that your weight was balanced evenly throughout all four paws, and your belly was low, but not too low." She gave each of them a nod, and began thinking if there were any other hunting moves they could demonstrate here; there really wasn't. The only thing left to do was simply, hunt. Flicking her tail, she continued, "Your next section of the assignment is individual hunting. I would like for each of you to hunt as much as you can; come back to camp at sunhigh [noon]. I will be watching each of you at certain times." With a nod, the leader waited for the two apprentices to begin their hunt. After they had gone on their way, she turned
to the mentors of the apprentices. "We will all hunt now, but make sure to keep an eye out for the apprentices."



{Sorry there's pretty much no descriptive language in here, I'm not sure what to write except for when she's talking. cx

Lamepaw was pleased that he hadn't gotten in trouble for voicing his wants. He was also excited to be able to show off the talents he'd been working on. He hoped he would catch a fish big enough for the both of them to share. "I've also been thinking- I mean, if you want. It's okay if you don't- if you want to try fighting as well? I mean, considering we both have similar- ah, paws- we could maybe figure out some defensive moves. So the clan doesn't have an extra pair of cats to defend when they should be defending the queens instead..." Lamepaw trailed off at that, claws unsheathing for a few moments. He wouldn't let anything touch the queens and kits inside the nursery. He wouldn't let any of the kits end up like he was and he wouldn't let any of the queens end up like his mother had. Lamepaw shivered and shook himself a little, staring pointedly in front of them.

Ebonyclaw pressed herself close to the ground when she felt Amber leave her. She was shaking and panicking a little. She couldn't kit here! She was supposed to be back in the den with Mothheart where it was warm and where she had another queen and two medicine cats to help her through it. Not here! Not so close to dangerous twolegs and with no one but a rogue to help her! She mewled and then yowled, trying to force her way after Amber but ending up flopping on her side instead. "Help!" she called, eyes wide and glassy. "Morningstar! Lamepaw! Brokenstep! Mothheart? Amber come back!" She whimpered, painfully rolling to her paws again to start dragging moss and leaves to the small clearing between two trees, making a makeshift nest for herself. She didn't want to do this, not here, now, without anyone else to help her, but she would if she had to. Obviously her little ones didn't want to follow her wishes. She flopped on her side again, squeezing her eyes shut.

Morningstar trotted into the forest, deciding on some kind of forest prey before she went to the river for fish. Creeping through the bushes and brambles, she carefully scented the air for prey. The forest was completely silent, not a single sound coming from its depths. When the scent of vole was caught by the she-cat, Morningstar stalked forward until it came into sight; the tiny brown creature was nibbling at some seeds at the base of a tree. She crept forward until she was close enough to leap; the thing didn't have a chance. She bit its neck to kill it quickly and painlessly, which is how a warrior should hunt. She buried it at the base of the tree, as it was a rather large tree that she would remember. Next, she began running towards the edge of the forest; pelting along, jumping over logs, dodging bramble patches. The tortoiseshell did not realize how close
she was to the border; when she stopped, and picked up the scent of something. This is not a familiar scent...
she thought, heart beating fast. She saw a black and white cat sniffing around. "Who are you and what are
you doing here?" she called out harshly, breaking the silence.
