An Avaleo is a hybrid of three different species.
Canines, Aves, and Leos.
Dogs/wolves, birds, and lions.
They always have at least one trait of each of these different groups.
they are endurance runners, and are effortlessly strong.
The manes are used for warmth.
The longer or fluffier a mane is, the colder the climate the Avaleo can live in.
a long maned A can live in warm climates, but they will groom themselves more.
Most As have a medium-length mane.
The tail feathers are used for sharp turns and mating rituals.
Males can make there tails stand straight up. females can't do this.
Predictably, the fuller the tail feathers, the more desirable the male partner.
Females tails have half the weight of the males, because they don't use them like the males do.
The Voice
Avaleos have amazing voices.
They can sing like a bird, bark like a dog, and roar like a lion. Sadly, they don't usually sing around humans.
They prefer to listen to us two-legs, and our interesting chatter.
They can speak any language they hear, but that does't always mean they always understand what they're saying.
The longer the time an Avaleo spends around a human, the more it can understand our language.
Avaleos will talk to their owner if they are truly attached to them, but they communicate with other A's with their mix of animal voices.
Their General Characteristics
- An Avaleo usually lives to be around a hundred years old
- Avaleos typically have a lion's main, a bird's tail feathers, and the anatomy of a canine.
- The Avaleo's average size is that of a lion.
- Avaleos age like humans but their prime is much longer.
They only feel their age at around ninety years.
- Avaleos are mammals.
- They have sharp teeth and pointed tongues, but they can eat almost anything.
- Avaleos can live anywhere humans can.
- All Avaleos mate for life.
- Avaleos will 75% of the time have
a bird's print patterned fur, or, a bird's color scheme, or, a lion's pale gold color.
They can have any birds pattern, owls, hawk, hummingbird, peacocks, etc.
You might even find a chicken Avaleo (Wut).
- An Avaleo's plumage isn't always natural. Some times their genetics go haywire, causing unusual colors
When this happens, it is either very good or very bad.
Either it causes them to get the best mate and pass on their genetic colors, or, they can never catch any sustenance.
- Avaleos rarely sprout wings.
- Avaleos have a affinity to attractive looking objects, so it is common to find them with odd objects they sometimes steal from humans.
