Breathless

I was granted this body
This face
These hands
A way of life

But I've tucked it all away
Behind dull colors
Behind a mask
Behind a puppet
Of which the puppet master is me
Working to untangle the hopeless lines
Knotted at my mistakes

Do I deserve these things
Do I deserve these breaths
Surely not
I've hidden them all to well
Will I ever find who I used to be
Or have I finally reached my last breath
