Reindeer Games: Blitzen

Postby SerenWish » Fri Dec 20, 2013 5:43 am

Here he is: Blitzen! He is an interesting mix with a Quarter Horse sire and a Warmblood mother with a hint of draft in her. He was technically a pair of twins that melded early on in the womb, which is why he sports both a Smoky Grullo Base and a Dapple gray one. He is black-based both sides, and gets the dun gene from his sire and the gray from his mother. Apparently the pair of twins combined makes for quite the amount of energy, because this boy has a lot!

Blitzen is the German word for "lightning" and, so this guy has the melded colors of storms, with lacing and a stripe to represent lightning bolts. He has the white heel marking to show speed and energy, and he has a windblown mane. His tack is inspired by the Russian troikas, of which he is a 'center horse'.

Breed: Quarter Warmblood (Quarter Horse 50%, Zweibrücker Warmblood 48.75 %, Schleswig 1.25%)
Color: Chimeric Smoky Grullo and Dapple Gray with Lacing
Markings: Primitive Markings, Dapples, Lacing, Stripe, White Heel
Height: 16.0 Hands
Personality:Blitzen is a firecracker just waiting to explode. He's high strung and head strong- and has got energy to boot. Blitz has always been easily excitable , and its difficult to hold his attention for more than a few minutes. He's always goofing off and playing around- and he loves to run! But he more oft' than not gets himself into trouble with other equines, and his human handlers. If he isn't playing some joke on somebody- then he can be found picking fights with other hroses - most of the time with those stronger or bigger than himself. his ego tends to get in the way, but once you get to know him, he's very loving and loyal.
Art/Story of his Adventure:

A snort escape his nares, his breath spiraling skyward on the brisk morning. Impatient hooves stamped out of tandem , tails flicking to and fro to emphasize the group's anxiety. Blitzen turned his head- gaging up the crowd. IT was a good turn out. Deep down he was nervous- realizing he had stepped way out of line this time. But his pride wouldn't hear a thing about it- EH was going through with this. He sighed deeply- his sides heaving with the effort, and he flicked his ears uneasily. There were soft whickers and whinnies spreading through the group as the other horses expressed their disbelief, their doubts, their suspicions. The snow below them had melted to reveal a muddy , slick hoof trodden circle. After what seemed like forever- one by one the other's ears pricked, and their heads jolted upwards and towards some oncoming point of interest. Blitzen took another deep breath before he ,too, turned to face his opponent.
See, Blitzen had been nickering a lot fo smack lately. His bragging had gotten him into a bit of a peppermint. His pride and his love of running had him prancing around like the Horse Lord of Sheba, and one thing lead to another- and he'd gotten himself into a betted race. No big deal, right? Wrong. It just so happens that his big maw had gotten him into this betted race with high class Racing thoroughbred, who had several wins on his girth. Needless to say- the Thoroughbred was very fast- and much larger than Blitzen.
While the crowd's ears perked in interest, Blitzen and his opponent- Ruff- a descendent of the famed Ruffian- ears were pinned in distaste. Blitzen knew he was in over his head. Ruff had stride and training on Blitz. Blitzen could only hope for a miracle. The two stallions stood side by side, tails thrashing angrily- hooves stamping anxiously- their breaths coming in short, excited bursts. The crowd of horses parted , lining the race stretch . Seemed simple enough- straight shot- round the oak grove, and back. First one back won. Granted there was snow, now, and who knew what lurked beneath the glimmering powder.
Truth be told, Blitzen wasn't sure when 'Go' was established- btu there they were- barreling through the snow towards the oak grove, which seemed miles away. Blitzen held back at first- Ruff too, it seemed. Saving it all for th efinal stretch, blitzen assumed. The hwole while Ruff was whinnying at him, awful things escaping that pretty maw of his. Tehir ears remained pinned. The grove came closer, and each slowed to round it safely. When they had cleared the grove- it was like lightning had hit between the two. Ruff suddenly kicked out at Blitzen , causing him to skid and slip . Ruff whinnied a laugh and barreled on. Blitzen gathered himself and hurried on- his muscles and sinew pushing harder than they ever had. It just wasn't fair! Ruff had cheated, and was going to get away with it!
Ruff turned his head to whinny another laugh at the poor sap who thought he could best a champion. Only- Ruff didn't pay attention to his path. The trail they had blazed going down, was far more treacherous going back . Not accounting for the mud- Ruff slipped and skidded into a large snow drift, and could do no more than watch , stunned and astounded as Blitzen barreled past the finish line. The crowd - who had been pacing and crow hopping anxiously- now erupted with shrill whistles an dwhinnies of excitement- rearing and bucking around the new barnyard champion.
Blitzen joined in their antics for only a moment. He spotted ruff collecting himself form the snow, and with a downcast head and pinned ears, started to walk away from the group. Blitzen flicked his ears uneasily, and trotted up to the stallion. The two shared a long, stand offish look- before Blitzen stretched out his nose and nuzzled the other stallion's shoulder. Ruff may have been trained and skilled at racing- but he was young and lacked certain key wisdoms , that Blitzen possessed well beyond his years, and any elder would have scolded Ruff for.
The two remained friends until Ruff was sold to a breeder- Blitzen heard he's got a new jockey and everything- and has a chance at the Kentucky Derby. And Both learned a valuable lesson that day.
Expect the unexpected- after all. You never know when Lightning will Strike again.

Don't even... Don't even... omg. I am *so* glad I waited. Okay, this is amazing.

Username:
Well hi there! (Or should I neigh? I don't know). I am Dog-Trainer.
Show Name:
His show name would be Unexpected Storm, due to his high energy and of course his barn name. We also had an unexpected semi-storm last night, so it seemed fitting
Barn Name:
Blitzen. (the short-tailed reindeer, reindeer...)
Gender:
Stallion
Breed:
Quarter Warmblood (Quarter Horse 50%, Zweibrücker Warmblood 48.75 %, Schleswig 1.25%)
A very interesting mixture, and of course markings, which yes, I am still flitting over. And don't get me started on that TACK o.o it is purely wonderful.

Color:
Chimeric Smoky Grullo and Dapple Gray with Lacing
Markings:
Primitive Markings, Dapples, Lacing, Stripe, White Heel
Height:
16.0 Hands
Personality:
A few good words for this horse? Daring, energetic but inspiring. He has quite a fiery temper, and you don't want to get on the wrong side of him, but he does have his good sides, of course!
Daring - When the other horses stand in their stables, wrapped up snuggly and warm on a cold wintery day when it is snowing, he'll be careering around his paddock in the snow with some of his buddies.

Energetic - He may not be a high spirited Arabian or a speedy Thoroughbred but he has the energy of both. Put together. He is like a whirlwind of hyper energy and power, he sure 'ain't afraid to show it. He is always the first one to get excited about something and the last one to calm down after it. He often gets restless in his stall and much prefers being outside than cooped up in a stall.
Inspiring - This stallion shows that even if you are a bit hyper, and a bit, well, weird, you can still have an important job to do.

Blitzen's important job? Well, it's an important one. Delivering sweets and chocolate to children for money for charities. He has to wear allot of tack including antlers and bells but even though his fur has been pushed the wrong way and his mane has been pulled about that many times he has lost count, he still loves his job dearly and wants to do it, even into old age.

OH MY GOODNESS I FORGOT TO PUT ON THE ANTLERS AGAIN.

*Dashes off*

Edit: They're on. He has very windy thin antlers, based off a real pair of reindeer antlers. XD Though it looks like the hind one has been broken off due his fidgeting!

Show Name: Flare Blitz
Barn Name: Blitzen

Color: Chimeric Smoky Grullo and Dapple Gray with Lacing
Markings: Primitive Markings, Dapples, Lacing, Stripe, White Heel
Height: 16.0 Hands
Personality: 'Blitz' is very brave, and kindhearted. He may seem tough on the outside, but inside there really is a loving horse. He is very willing to please and adores treats. On the other hand, due to his moving around in his earlier years, Blitzen has learned to never quite settle anywhere, and that's probably the reason for his being so energetic and fidgety.
Art/Story of his Adventure:
Image
Blitzen was bred on a farm in Lapland, and sold off for provisions for the other animals as a very young foal. His buyer continually explored exotic places, and Blitz became very hardy over the years, until he was eventually became his owner's mount, and grew used to trekking across difficult and bumpy terrain. His days were very happy and he became very attached to his owner: Just one horse and his man. Then, war struck. Blitzen's exploring day were over, as he was forced to be handed over to be used in the cavalry. He spent a year training under a tough man who didn't particularly like him. After that, he began to serve in the cavalry, as a mount for a kind young boy who spent most of his spare time with Blitzen. After a year of charging most of the way to enemy lines every day, the boy was shot from Blitzen's back, and Blitzen turned immediately to see what was wrong with his rider. Blitzen decided that he needed help, and galloped back to the trenches, where his boy was presumed dead and Blitzen was assigned a new rider. This one was intent on revenge, due to his family's death, and was caught after just a few weeks as a soldier. Blitzen had no idea what was happening, and was found a month later under some trees, just outside of the battlefield, and taken back to the camp to rest himself. This lasted for a week, until he was eventually given another person to ride him. This one was also caught, and Blitzen returned to the trenches alone. His next rider, one of the oldest men in the cavalry, adored Blitzen, and after seven months, retired from the army, having served ten years, and as he left, he whispered a promise to Blitzen that if he survived, he would buy him at the end of the war. After that, two brothers shared him, taking turns to ride him across the battlefield, but the eldest was captured, and the youngest brother lead Blitzen back, and was dismissed from because he was traumatized. Finally, he was given another rider, and it just happened that this rider was the man who trained him. On the first time that his trainer rode him on the battlefield, Blitzen was shaking under his weight, as he was used to being ridden by young boys. When the gunshots began, Blitzen bolted to the furthest edge of the battlefield, where he threw him and ran away without looking back. He galloped until he reached a city, which was much larger than anything he'd seen before. Eventually, hungry and shivering on an alleyway, a poor family found Blitzen. seeing this as their first glimmer of hope, they sold Blitzen to a family who lived on a ranch in the countryside, where he could be safe from harm. They re-trained him as a family horse, and he slowly began to learn to love again. He now regularly competes as a show horse, as well as making an income giving rides in his Trokia, alongside two other horses owned by the family.

Notes for people: Please remember the personality must be at least 4 sentences long.

Stories should include artwork, but if a story has no artwork, it should be at least 500 words.

Color:

Markings:

Height:
16.0 Hands

Personality:
Blitzen is a very energetic lad who never seems to settle down in anyway. He is a short-tempered stallion ready to snap when you get on his bad side. Blitzen is intelligent so don't mistake him for just a pretty boy. He's stubborn so it's either his way or no way at all. He will also go out of his way for anyone he loves, nothing can stop this kind-hearted horse from getting to his loved ones.

Art/Story of his Adventure:
The booming sound of thunder rolled through the lands of where a stallion stood with the mark of lightning. He listened to it as the other horses would whiney to him, telling him to come into the barn to be safe. He felt calm, nothing was bothering this horse for the storm was his favorite type of weather. He loved when rain would cover his coat and lightning would light up the skies. He listened to the humans that were in the barn their voices worried. "Where's Addison? She should be back by now!" one had explained to the other. "She went out on one of the horses! Maybe she was in an accident!" the other answered. Addison was Blitzen's girl, he could hear the worriment in their voice allowing him to figure out something was up. He looked at the fence, it wasn't too high and he knew he had to find his human. He took off, going at a steady pace before jumping over the white picket fence that blocked the horses in. He galloped toward the forest he had watched Addison ride off into. He neighed for the other horse, wondering if he was close to the whereabouts of the two. An answering neigh was given and he followed the noise deeper into the dark pines. He found her on the ground, cold and shivering her eyes scared. "Blitzen, you're such a good boy." she complimented him with a pat on the nose. He looked over at the mare who got spooked from the thunder obviously throwing Addison off of her. Blitzen's ears went back nipping the other horses flank for them to go back home. He nuzzled her gesturing her to get on his back to come home with him. She got up trying to balance her weight on her right leg, her left one in pain from the fall. He laid down, figuring it'd be easier for her to get onto him. She mounted him scrunching her face in pain when she put weight on her left foot. He got up slowly making sure his rider wouldn't fall and hurt herself again. He walked, head low in content through the forest and back home where they greeted her with hugs when she dismounted him. They gave him a pat on the head, feeding him some rhubarb his favorite treat for being a good boy. He watched as she was carried back into the house, staying out as rain fell onto his dark colored fur.

Show Name: Lightning Strikes Twice

Barn Name: Blitzen

Gender: Stallion

Breed: Quarter Warmblood (Quarter Horse 50%, Zweibrücker Warmblood 48.75 %, Schleswig 1.25%)

Color: Chimeric Smoky Grullo and Dapple Gray with Lacing

Markings: Primitive Markings, Dapples, Lacing, Stripe, White Heel

Height: 16.0 Hands

Personality: Blitzen is a very high-strung horse, especially for having some quarter horse blood in him. He acts like quite the know it all, and has no problem showing off and strutting himself to the other horses. Given that, when he isn't pulling a sleigh, he's a difficult ride that is only for the very best riders that can withstand a fit of bucking or two. This stallion also seems to lack his common sense as well as his manners, as he's probably the one horse in the field attempting to leap over the electric fence but instead gets tangled up in it.
