((Hey, so you all remember those 10º temps I was complaining about a week ago? Well, it's going to be 70º here tomorrow. Man I love our crazy weather! Oh, and Punk, I love Isis' story. Very moving.))
Ahote
Male | 46 | Fighter

Ahote nodded to Hrafn as he suggested they both watch, knowing as well as anyone that two pairs or eyes were better than one. Not that he was really expecting attack at this time, as the warm food and relative safety of the cave at his back had him feeling quite secure. Turning his attentions back to his bone, Ahote tipped his ears in Hrafn's direction when he spoke again, letting out a little whuff of a laugh at his comments.
"Resin has more balls than you and I combined... I'm sure she is perfectly capable of sleeping on her own without me hovering over her like some wet-eared pup," he replied, a bit of dry humor curling his lips. Though at the same time, he greatly appreciated the thought. There was nothing he wanted more than to curl up next to her and feel the passing of her breath while she slept, but his sense of duty and respect for Resin kept him away.
"Anyway, she is speaking with Curse right now. I think it best if we give them some time," he said a bit more seriously and turned his attentions back to his bone.
After awhile, a young wolf named Kona came hopping up to him, her golden eyes wide with concern. Touched by her concern for the Alpha, Ahote smiled to her,
"Oh don't you worry. Our Resin is a tough one, and I'm sure she will be fine," he said, reassuring her as best he could even though his own heart still worried for her. Reaching up, he gave her a lick under the chin,
"Have you eaten yet, Kona? There should be plenty left. Just make sure you get back into the cave before dark. I'm sure there will be others who will want to take their share of our kills and I wouldn't wan you getting caught out there." Rather than scolding, his words were gentle and held only concern for her safety. Though young, the pup had taken on responsibility beyond her years, and much like Mirage he had taken a liking to her. She held promise as a fighter, and already he knew the little scrapper could take care of herself well enough to make the trip down to the kills without supervision.
By this time, Ahote had gnawed the end of his bone off, and he let it sit for awhile. Surrounded by the pack and knowing that everyone was safe had soothed his frayed nerves. Yet, as he looked out over those sitting in the snow and remember who he had seen earlier in the cave, he began to realize that not everyone was accounted for. Running the long day through his head a few more times, he eventually looked back to Hrafn,
"Hrafn, have you seen Pipaluk recently? I don't think I've seen her since sometime last night..." he said, trailing off as he tried to remember exactly when that was. He had slept through the little incident between Attican and Lani, and had been tracking down Kira when Resin had told the others, so he had no idea that she wouldn't be accompanying them further.
Lani
Female | 57 | Hunter

With Kuolema's help, Lani drug the remains of her kill back to the pile just a bit down from the cave. Being built low to the ground gave her good leverage, and overall the task wasn't that hard, yet by the time she had reached the top of the hill Lani was huffing and puffing just like the others. Her fellow hunters had scattered, with Kuolema resting a ways off and Iparok seemed to be having a bit of dessert next to the now half-eaten pile of venison. That young hunter had promise, and though he didn't seem to think very highly of himself, she appreciated his tracking abilities. She hardly knew the other wolf, and though he was much younger than the others who had taken part in the hunt, he too showed courage. Either could benefit from the gentle guidance of her firm paw. Or so she thought anyway. Looking between the two of them as she considered whom to bother next, Lani eventually gave up on both of them, deciding instead to check out who was in the cave.
Approaching the entrance, she paused between Ahote and Hrafn, a bit of a smile growing on her blood-stained lips.
"Well, isn't this a handsome honor guard we have here?" she said with a flick of her tail. Though Ahote worried far too much for her liking, this new brute, with his silken black pelt and suave mannerisms was easy enough on the eyes. She might have considered lingering there with them, had her heart not already belonged to Attican that was. That stray thought was enough to keep her moving, and she took her fattened self and squeezed into the cave.
Once inside, Lani wandered about looking over those who had finished eating and were relaxing in the caverns's warmth. The activity was starting to sir up the contents of her over-burdend stomach though, and after a few minutes she began to feel too tired to keep putting about. Thus, she decided that it was high time for a nap and she soon found a nice spot at the back of the cave to settle into. Within a few minutes she was out like a light, snoring softly.
