Rory kissed her head, and hugged her. "I'm so sorry, baby."

"Why are you apologizing? You have nothing to apologize for," Lizzie murmured into his skin, hugging him closer.

Rory just held her for a few minutes. After a while, he pulled back. "We should call. I'll call Jack and Austin, you call yours?"

Lizzie nodded slightly and pulled back. "Yeah," she said in a quiet voice. Their situation had truly begun to sink in. "Yeah, I'll go call my parents." She slipped her phone from her pocket and stepped into the hallway.

Rory sighed, and called Jack's phone.

Jack picked up the phone. "Hello?"

Lizzie called her parents, hoping one of them would pick up.

"Dad?" Rory asked. "Can you and Austin and Ryder come down to the hospital?"

Jasper picked up. "Hello?"

When he heard the word "hospital," Jack was immediately alert. "Of course. What is it?"

"Dad?" Lizzie asked once he'd answered. She swallowed hard. "Um, Rory and I have some news that we needed to tell you." Suddenly her mouth felt dry. "Can you just come down to the hospital? It's not really something that should be said over the phone."

Rory sighed. "I'd rather tell you in person," he said.

"Yeah of course. Do you want everyone or just me and mom?"

Jack nodded slightly. "Of course. Give us fifteen minutes and we'll be there." He motioned for Ryder and Austin to follow him as he made his way to the car.

"Just you and Mom, please. We can tell everyone else later."
