What is a Kora?
A Kora is a large feline largely resembling a leopard or lion. All Koras have a fluffy dorsal mane, starting from the end of the tail and ending at the crown of the head, falling over the face. Their faces are broad, like a lion, but they have wider eyes adapted to seeing in the dark. Koras have large, tufted tails. We have yet to know what the purpose of such an ornamental tail would be. Koras have long, waterproof fur, good for keeping out water and unfavorable temperatures. Much like their ancestors, the cheetah, snow leopard, and lion, all Koras have spots almost covering their bodies. Occasionally they may be more sparse, but they will always have them for the purpose of camouflage in their harsh wild habitat.

All Koras are given a necklace with a large pendant when they reach the age of two years. This pendant fits their looks and usually says something about their personality as well. The necklaces are custom colored to match or accent the fur color of the particular Kora wearing it.

As said previously, Koras are large felines who closely resemble modern day big cats, such as lions and leopards. They will always have spots, no matter the design. They can either be wild, domesticated, or both. Those who are wild live in all sorts of different regions where they can blend in. Those who are domesticated often live with "fancier" humans who can afford to keep such exotic pets.

To the right is the Kora mascot - Amelie. Her picture is linked to her actual Kora "page".

There are three types of spots;
Cheetah Spots
Image
Cheetah spots on a Kora are extremely common. The spots themselves are most often seen in much more varied numbers than the other spot types. Cheetah spots are easily distinguishable from childhood up to adulthood, for they are the only round spots and are easily notable on young cubs. Cheetah-spotted Koras often live in more open areas in the wild and can have very few spots, sometimes few enough to count with ease.

Leopard Spots
Image
Leopard spotted Koras (also known as "tri-spotted," for their distinguishable triple-cluster spots), are still somewhat common, but certainly more seclusive, for they live in forest and some jungle habitats. This tricky habitat range makes them difficult to capture and tame, making them seem more rare than they really are. Leopard spotted Koras often have very numerous spots to blend in with various sun-dapple patterns on the forest floor, the leaves on a tree, or the vegetation on the ground.

Jaguar Spots
Image
Jaguar spots on a Kora are very rare. They are rather helpful for camouflage, making them difficult to find. Their pelts are suitable for rainforest and deep jungle life, so this makes finding them even trickier! These Koras usually don't lack small patches of spots, as the other types normally do, but rather, Jaguar spotted Kora pelts usually lack large patches of spots, such as on the ribs, the legs, the neck, or the jawlines. Missing only the smaller spots is very uncommon and considered sharp and unfavorable.

  • Adopt Rules;
    • Respect Stormfly and all members of staff.
    • Follow all the rules of CS.
    • Do not rush the production of Koras; Stormfly and the other Artists and Guest Artists have lives away from the computer.
    • Please don't ask for Koras or ask if any are available; that shows you haven't looked through the adoptables and probably won't appreciate them as much as someone else, you just want one for the sake of having one.
    • There is no limit on how many Koras you can have; that being said, please let non-owners have a shot at a Kora as well.
    • PM Stormfly or any of the Mods with any questions you might have.
    • No mini-modding; Stormfly and the Mods can handle it. If no action has been taken in a few days, though, you may step in, or if someone is excessively spamming the thread, you are allowed to take action then as well, seeing as no one wants the thread to be filled up with a bunch of spam.
    • Don't ask to be a staff member.
    • No whining or begging.
    • If a Kora cub is frozen and is not ECS {eternal cub syndrome}, please message the Artist who made the cub to nicely remind them to grow the cub.
    • Please don't comment on Koras looking like Kiamaras; Stormfly and everyone else has had enough about it.
    • Enjoy!

Q: What is a Kora?
A Kora is a large feline largely resembling a leopard or lion. All Koras have a fluffy dorsal mane, starting from the end of the tail and ending at the crown of the head, falling over the face. Their faces are broad, like a lion, but they have wider eyes adapted to seeing in the dark. Koras have large, tufted tails. We have yet to know what the purpose of such an ornamental tail would be. Koras have short, coarse fur, good for keeping out water and unfavorable temperatures. Much like their ancestors, the leopard, cheetah, and jaguar, all Koras have spots almost covering their bodies. Occasionally they may be more sparse, but they will always have them for the purpose of camouflage in their harsh wild habitat.

Q: Where can I adopt Koras?
You can adopt them here!

Q: How many Koras can I have?
You can have as many as you want; there is no limit. It would be nice, though, if you let non-owners have a chance at a few Koras.

Q: Can I breed my Koras?
Yes you can, just go here!

Q: Can I get a custom Kora?
At this moment, only staff are getting customs. However, in the future, customs may be open to the public.

Hello ^^ My name is Korona {obviously}. I fell in love with Koras as soon as the concept came out, and as soon as it was possible, I applied to be a moderator, and got the job. Some of the staff and I find it a bit ironic that one of my various nicknames happens to be Kora, just like the species. If you ever have any questions, comments, concerns, or something of the likes, please PM me; I am always open and have made it my job to know the Koras as best as I can, inside and out.

About Kora Cubs
Baby Kora cubs largely resemble baby lions. With small, scattered spots and downy fur, Kora cubs are vulnerable in the wild, but adored by humans. Kora cubs' spots will only slightly resemble what they will look like later. Kora cubs can have either "solid" or "hollow" spots. Solid spots usually mean cheetah-like spots later on, while hollow spots could mean either tri-spots (leopard) or cluster spots (jaguar)
Kora teens are wild and rugged. With short, scruffy manes and wide, excited eyes, Kora teenagers might as well be oversized cubs! At this age, Koras are nearly their full size and can hunt for themselves. They will often bring.. Erm, "gifts" of birds, rats, prairie dogs, mice, and weasels they kill. They are very hard to train, but will do nearly anything to make their human companions happy.

Koras usually have litters of 2 or 3, but occasionally, 1 or 4 cubs is possible.

Breeding can be found here.

Image

  • Breeding Rules;
    • No begging or whining.
    • Koras do not normally mate for life; however, if you want to have your Kora only mate with another Kora, that's perfectly fine.
    • If you choose to permanently mate your Kora to another, make sure you're absolutely sure, because Koras can only break that once in their life and only if they've had no litters or one litter with that mate.
    • Do not rush the Artist making your cubs.
