When Duncan gave the sign to leave, Malta stood energetically, before remembering this pack's appetite. She would have to go after something bigger then the common rabbit and her usual quick kills. Getting irritated, she charged full out at a flash of white, managing to just get a rabbit by the rump in her annoyance. She would have to wait for Fiasha. Tearing into the rabbit, Malta filled herself, before scouting. By the scent of the winds, a deer herd was nearby. Irritated beyond belief at how many missed chances there would be today. She went back to camp, pacing irritably before sitting down, grumpily waiting for Fiasha to wake up.
(When Fiasha's rper comes on, just say they went after the deer together. Please read my siggy, sorry for the inconvenience.

)
Mostly just on rps now. XD

"Fenrir." the name rolled off her tongue easily and she felt something in her chest untangle. She knew his name, but it had been only a tag, a calling without emotions or meaning attached to a face or soul - somehow this formal trade of names felt much more meaningful.
The waking forest wasn't quiet - leaves stirred, birds harked and shrieked and the wind whistled a haunting tune. A cacophony of noises, a song of life. It wasn't exactly the perfect scene she had envisioned herself in finding enlightenment and relief of a heavy burden but at the moment, the she-wolf that struggled so much in the past finally found that small flickering ember buried under the ash collected from her past, a fractured reflection of a lost life. The flame was reignited, and though it was a small flame, so weak it threatened to collapse on itself, extinguish the light it was hope, the first spark of determination to reclaim a life she never lived.
Perhaps it was because she harboured her own terrible monster within that the intimidating size of the wolf before her didn’t scare her, but suddenly she felt as if she was with her brothers again. Maybe, just maybe, she could learn to love this pack as well.
She chuckled lightly at his courteous ways, a sound so light and real that it surprised her for a moment. How long had it been since she expressed happiness and delight without fear? When had it became so easy and light? Her eyes widened at the strange noise as if she couldn't believe that it came from her own lips and the amused sounds died down. It had only been a simple trade of names - why did it feel so grand, why did she feel so emotional?
"Thank you." she whispered, eyes lifting to meet his to find her own lips twitching in response. She had never felt so like family until that moment, from the second he uttered 'yes' to the moment he walked with her, traded names with her. There was nothing else she could say - though there wasn't any need to, her gratitude, her relief, her delight at the new possibilities this presented could be read by observant eyes and she didn't doubt Fenrir understood and shared similar opinions.
"Are you hungry?" she asked softly, testing the waters of new territories now open to them. She was scared definitely, it had been so long since... but the excitement of this new beginning overwhelmed her wariness.

ஜAmiably so, the brute regarded her with a new light. He didn't understand why she was saying thank you to him, when he felt that who'd changed the course of actions had been her. He had her to thank. Not she to him. This was not about pride, but Fenrir just then made a side-note of showing his appreciation to her; his own way of saying thanks. Maybe not now, but later on, when he knew something that she would like. Something that would be as invaluable to her as her actions had been to him. That is, if he didn't screw up.
He would die if he did.
Perhaps she had not noticed, but somewhere between before and now he thought of her as a friend. And not just any, but his closest. How? Well, she was also a lonely soul. And their paths had wandered into one another's, a meeting meant to be the base of of bridges yet to forge. Unlike many, this fae had stepped forward. Just a friend by then. When she asked to go on a walk, he instantly put her in a category just for herself.
He was awed and thrilled and exhilarated.
Awed because he'd never imagined something like this for himself. Thrilled because of the prospect of finally having a friend. Exhilarated because of the wild feeling rumbling, growing, growling, bursting through his chest. The unfurling warm and bright and welcoming and - peaceful. Yes peaceful. Because for some reason he had found peace in this little rendezvous of souls.
This was not something he would forget easily. And he hoped that she wouldn't either.
He allowed a wolfish smile to spread his muzzle, his features roguish, but his eyes warm, like the sun they stood under. Starving, he replied, allowing himself to let go in her presence. Fenrir was not one to smile much, but when he did it was because those smiles were to count the most. And currently he couldn't smile enough. For while his mouth remained in a thin line his eyes spoke for the playful thing that was soundless laughter and joy.
Any ideas? he asked her, flexing his muscles in a crouch, rolling his shoulder-blades with a satisfied snap. If they were going hunting he was more than ready. The brute's paws had their claws extended and ready, digging into the soft muddied earth below him. He was more than ready for anything.
Fenrir flicked his ears and allowed his tail to sway slightly. Yeah, he told himself. Letting go. Because he was finally letting the remnants of a haunted wolf behind, and giving life to a new version of himself. One that was more alive and in tune with his surroundings, One that truly enjoyed living. One that had a friend. And most importantly, one that was slowly losing the barriers around himself.
The male didn't know why, but Ravenue had easily discarded his appearance. And it was one of the things that vexed him the most. She had bluntly jumped into his life and he hoped she would never go away anytime soon. All those times he'd seen her around he'd felt compelled to talk to her because of the certain air of familiarity, but now he knew why. Fenrir could only curse himself for not doing it sooner. For as soon as they met walls lifted and both of them palliated the pain in each other's chest, if only a little.
But that little was enough for him.
She was his friend now. And he admired her so. Now it would only be a matter of time to see how things would drift off. He, hopeful, that she would not resume her life as if he had never existed. Because truthfully, if he took another blow to his center he might as well just shatter and die. Specially if it came from her.

((I just wanted to let you guys know that Benathorn PMed me and said she hasn't had the time to post daily, so she'd like to leave the roleplay and let somebody more active have the role of Zerrin alpha. Would anybody like to take over Wren's character? You're free to change everything except the name. If you're interested, please PM me and we'll discuss it.))

"You look handsome when you smile." the words slipped out before she could stop them and she winced from the bluntness of her observation. But it had been such a surprise, a brilliant smile that graced his features and brightened his entire being - it was Fenrir... but not the Fenrir that others see, because this one is so much kinder and gentler. "You should smile more." she muttered softly, head ducking from embarrassment. She did mention she have horrible socialising skills right? She might as well bulldoze through anyways now that the embarrassing comment had slipped through.
She watched with amusement as the wolf crouched down, flexing his muscles in an impressive show of strength and size. His eager question, positioning of the body presented a wolf she'd never met before. Is this the real Fenrir? she couldn't help but wonder in awe, what she did to catch a glimpse of the soul beneath the mask. She felt honoured, a little privileged to have been shown this other side of a member of her new pack, to know that she had succeeded in gaining a new friend.
She still held reserves in completely letting herself go and felt envious of Fenrir, who was able to show a different side to him, to show another finally a peep of what's underneath - the true filling that made the wolf. But can I do the same? She knew Fenrir didn't mind her appearance, but she couldn't help but feel wary. The scars laced all across her body that turned a once-beauty into a warning sign, how would he react if he knew how blood thirsty she was and how deep a pool of blood she had sunk herself in?
She turned her nose to the air, drawing in the multiple scents scattered through the atmosphere. "I scent deer..." her lips began curving upwards in excitement, her heart beat picking up in pace - it had been too long since she last hunted large prey. Hunting deer required team working skills and somehow, she felt that they would make an excellent hunting pair.
"Shall we?" she laughed invitingly, bouncing eagerly in the direction of the strong musky scent. (( trying to lead to a meeting between the Haldred border patrol and Revenue + Fenrir ;u; I hope everyone's ok...? ))

ஜSure enough the brute was completely elated at sharing his time with Revenue. A feeling stirred the depths within him and he couldn't help watch her carefully, trying to see what made her so blunt. Of course, he missed the opportunity when her bluntness made an appearance again, leaving him a little... lightheaded.
She said he looked handsome when he smiled. And for some reason he was saddened a little. Usually when he smiled at his own reflection he'd only see the sneer of a predator about to attack. But she didn't. The fae had seen him.
And although he was exceptionally ecstatic about it, he felt guilty. It was clear that she on her part did not feel liberated enough to go ahead. She seemed to be taking some things with her, luggage that clearly weighted her down. So he frowned slightly, before making up his mind. Again, he granted a smirk to raise the corners of his thin lips before he proceeded to help her.
He was strong enough to share the weight of her luggage.
His eyes quickly blazed and he offered her a small laugh. A sound he didn't know. A deep rumble resonating from his chest, like a purr. He was offering to help her across the way. And he hoped that she saw that he knew how hard it was to carry so many packages. For one, he had the weight of four. But that was okay. It was alright. Because he knew what items to leave behind already.
Fenrir wagged his tail slightly, allowing it to brush her, as encouragement. With a nod he succumbed, and unbeknownst to his own self, he was silently and secretly capitulating into something much more intricate. But that would resurface later, once he noticed that he had changed in more than one way.
And as new doors opened, the brute was glad that for a change, he was finally helping her, or so he thought, by being there and giving her his security as she had given him with that first question. With his first yes. And he was sure that this hunt would pay off.
Fenrir was never much of a hunter, but they would make a good team. So he stood there, muscles aching to move, ready to spring. He was ready. And with the chime of laughter coming from her, he could tell that so was she. Lead the way, he told her. But his voice was a little breathed, and there was something else to his eyes, too.
Revenue is nothing short for wonderful, he allowed himself to think; just remembering the idea of her smiling and telling him 'thank you.' And it was in the midst of that thought process that he lost notice of how happy he'd felt when she smiled. Or how beautiful he thought her laugh was. The male was winded for sure.
And the best thing is, he mused, taking a step forward, that she is my friend.

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ Whilst lost in her little day-dream, Eeori was pushed back into reality by
Sage's excited tone of voice.
At first confusion swept over her as to why the female beside her was so excited,
but when she seen the healer's head turning away from the forest and to face her,
the little sparkle in Sage's eye told her everything. When everything clicked into
place Eeori's brow smoothed out and her lips pulled at the corners to form a small
smile. Maybe the higher ranking wolf did share Eeori's love for the green land.
Yes, we are running low on dandelion. Whether that was true or not didn't matter
that much to Eeori, what did matter was that her mentor, for some reason, not
mean to gather herbs. She was never that excited to gather herbs, so why should
everything change all of a sudden ? Not that Eeori blamed the vixen, she did
understand why collecting flowers, leaves and roots didn't excite many wolves.
Brushing away the thoughts, the black female stood up with her amber orbs
remaining on Sage.
Whilst waiting for her mentor, the black vixen looked around at all of the
surrounding wolves that were splitting themselves up into their morning groups.
Whether they were going hunting or patrolling, everybody seemed to know what they
were going to do long before their alpha said anything. Of course Eeori did feel sorrow
for the wolves. Unlike the healers who were send out into the forest to stock up on
their herbs, the other ranking wolves went through the same routine each day... Not
Fiasha, though.. Her life was changed forever..
The slaughter that she must've lived through didn't even begin grasping Eeori...
No she thought, quickly trying to push the image out of her head. Its alright.
Fiasha is a strong fae.. She'll live. Slowly but surely, the black pelted wolf agreed to
not think about the past anymore, and instead focused on the bright and green future
that lay ahead of her.
we're all like the moon;
we reflect others happiness
yet still have our dark side.
alright, thanks ^^ . i'll reply for nation in my next post, if that's alright :3 ;;

A look of surprise flitted over her as Fenrir stood closer, a smirk playing across his features that told her something - something that she couldn't quite place her paw on, but she was comforted. The feeling of being protected washed over her and for the first time ever since she had escaped from that hell hole, she let her barriers drop a little.
How could one wolf, a canine she'd never really knew until that morning unravel so much in such a short time? She looked up into his amber eyes skeptically, trying to search for her answers within molten fiery hues. He then did something that surprised her - a bark of laughter escaped from thin lips, one that rumbled from deep within his chest and left loud and clear. If a wolf could purr, Fenrir would be purring like a content cat. She didn't know what made him so happy or so expressive but it began to untangle the tight holds she had around her feelings. Slowly, the ropes loosened and she could feel amusement bubbling up, she blinked her brown orbs, clearing the misting film gathering from the rush of emotions as soft heartfelt chuckles slipped from her.
This time, she made no move to stop them.
They were laughing at nothing but it didn't matter, for it was a release of emotions for two wolves that had been hiding behind barriers for so long - the emotions that had been building up for two years finally found a hole to be released from. Today, she found laughter and amusement, what else will she rediscover as the day progress? Fenrir's tail brushed across hers and she felt a glow of gratefulness for the wolf who was willing to take his time and wait for a slow developer like herself.
She had lost her childhood, never really explored the world until she found the Zerrin pack and suddenly she was learning how beautiful the world can be. How comforting it was to feel the wind comb through her pelt and to feel the flutter of leaves against her back. How peaceful it can be, to just sit and listen to the sounds of nature and the soft lull of conversation and not the sounds of harsh breathing, angry taunts or the sounds of torture. Ever since she was accepted in the pack, she finally found time to learn about the world around her. She finally started to relax and slow down for once.
Her eyes gleamed with delight when he gave her the role of leading the hunt and for a moment it left her breathless. Even though she hadn't grown up in a pack environment, the wolf's instincts buried deep within her had expected the stronger masculine party to lead. She was both surprised and daunted at being handed the role but she took it willingly, nodding her head in agreement as she turned towards the heavy scent, pleasure lining her body.
The scent was several hours old, the deer having passed through their fields during night time and so Revenue set a light trotting pace, knowing that Fenrir will be able to catch up easily with his longer limbs and strides. The scent was easy to follow, the deer having paused at several intersections to graze, it was in no hurry to travel which made tracking that much easier. Already she could feel herself salivating just thinking of the delicious catch. She wasn't sure if two wolves will be able to drop one full grown deer - she had no experience in hunting large prey but she was positive that Fenrir's large size and her determination (fuelled by her hunger now) and their teamwork, nothing will be able to stop them from bringing that buck down and back to camp by nightfall.
"Where do you come from Fenrir?" she asked softly as they travelled, her tongue hanging out as the pace she set, soon had her panting for more oxygen as she exerted herself to keep the pace at the same rate. She had heard from others that the pack was made up of loners their generous alpha took in without conditions and she was somewhat curious to know where each pack member originated from. "Y-you don't have to tell me of course." she said quickly after, instantly realising that one might not be comfortable in revealing their past - like her.
A wolf wasn't born a loner. They had to come from a family, a pack and because of changes that took place, events that played out and the elimination of a whole family, they were cast out into the wild to fend for themselves. Some chose to stay that way, preferring the wandering ways but others, sought for a new family - because sometimes the loneliness was just too much to bear.
Revenue pulled to a stop as the scent of the deer she was tracking grew heavy in the atmosphere. Her tongue lolled by the side as she panted from the workout, still she didn't let her guard down as her eyes scanned the area. Her delicate ears picked up the sounds of grass being flattened and the unmistakable snort of a wary animal. There! The fae immediately perked up upon spotting the buck a few ten, fifteen feet away and she had to hold in her grin from breaking her jaws. She met the eyes of Fenrir and nodded towards the deer, her tail thumping eagerly against the grass as she waited for his opinion.

➟ He heard his name, and the ears sat up on his head, eyes still vacant, but his audits now catching the words of his assignment. As usual, it was the same. Why Duncan chose him to stand guard of camp and not one of the lower ranking wolves was a mystery to him. Perhaps Duncan didn't trust Maedoc and wished to put him at the lowest level of work. He'd have to work on that. For now, he stretched his front limbs out in front of him and sank all the way to the ground. This was going to be a long day. Being appointed as beta had seemed like a good thing to him at first. Now, he wasn't so sure. The power he thought accompanied it only showed itself a few times a year, and that was mostly when Duncan was away. Sure, he now had the power to tell others what to do, but he had certainly done that before. He was a natural leader, and it wasn't hard for others to follow him. Unlike Duncan, Maedoc was not really a wolf to be utterly feared. He might have sent a shiver of fear up a lower ranking wolf's spine, but that was most likely because he was larger and was looked up upon. While he was distant, he wasn't outright cold. He had even managed to make at least one friend within the Haldred pack, which was more than Duncan could say for himself.
Speaking of which, his eyes wondered to Kat once more. He was forced to turn his neck to do so, as she was positioned at the back of the pack, probably wanting to escape notice. This was the only wolf that Maedoc considered to being close to keeping up with his overactive mind and physical abilities. She was strong, sturdy, with a stable mind. Appearance mattered to him, as well, and she wasn't lacking in that area. Her white fur and turquoise eyes were a welcome sight in any mood he was in. If Maedoc hadn't known better, if he had been younger and more foolish, he might have fallen in love with her. But as everyone knows, love is a lost cause.
He turned back to face Duncan when he heard Kat speak, saying she understood the orders. If only Maedoc could tag along on a border patrol. How long it had been since he had been able to stretch his legs along the outer rim of their land! Did Duncan not realize that forcing him to sit watch day in and day out was only hurting the male? He could not train sitting along in the clearing. He could not become a stronger, better wolf as all the other fighters were doing. Sure, after everyone came back he let himself run and roam, going where he pleased, but it was without a mission. Maedoc had taken to killing prey without need, leaving the rotting corpses on the forest floor. It was at least something to do.

➜ The meeting started, and Pollock pulled himself out from behind the rock, knowing that Duncan's eyes would not want to find anyone missing. With Pollock not being on the list of favorites, he needed to do everything he could to make himself blend in. Looking back at the bones of the fish and wishing he had more, the small male placed himself in the very middle of the group, eyes staring up at Duncan and ears hanging onto every word his alpha said. They would go on a patrol. Alone or with a friend, he didn't mind it. With Duncan at the party's lead, things could quickly go downhill. One wrong step (and let's face it, Pollock often made wrong steps), and the alpha's punishment would instantly be upon him, threatening to chase him out of the pack or worse.
The dark male caught the gaze of a female, the healer named Sage. While Pollock had been unable to spend much time at all with her, the fleeting glances and few words they had exchanged were enough to prove that this wolf was one he could trust. It was a welcome relief, because everyone else around him was far from earning his trust. Maybe if they would stop putting him down and not have been so uninviting. It took Pollock a lot for him to not like someone. There wasn't a wolf within the pack that Pollock didn't like, per say. There were just very few (only one, in fact), that held his trust.
Duncan's words ended, and Pollock vehemently nodding, answering the brute's question. Of course he understood what he was supposed to do. And knowing what he was supposed to do, he moved closer to Duncan, knowing that the male would be the one to lead the patrol. He tucked his head down, held his tail low, and averted his eyes while he approached, not wanting the wrath of Duncan to fall upon him. He did not clamber up the den to stand by him. He knew better than that. But he did stand beneath his alpha, awaiting movement from the male.
