Brooke heard Aza's voice, and she looked up, the blood flowing freely. "I...I can't take this anymore..." She whispered, her spirit broken. "I want to die Aza...they do such horrible things..." She couldn't continue and burst into tears again, shaking her head and splattering crimson on the spotless, white floor. The holes near her temple were clearly visible on both sides, gruesome evidence of the torture the girl had been through. She tore at her blond hair, rocking back and forth, vision clouded and blurred by the tears that spilled endlessly.
The screams of other patients echoed throughout the hallway, along with the whirrings of machines, clinking of chains, slap of straps across skin, and a whole collection of other malicious sounds. Each made her wince, a constant reminder of what everyday brought. "They laughed at me...laughed as they drilled..." She whispered, blue eyes growing so wide they looked like separate moons. The entire experience was replayed in her mind with painful clarity, almost as if she was reliving the test.
A fierce draw towards that door rang through her again. The one that led to the depths of the Asylum. No doubt death or insanity awaited down there for anyone who was desperate enough. It suddenly seemed like the best place in the world, an escape from the terrible reality of this place.
