Personality: strider is the type of kid who feels he has to put on a show for everyone. not just his friends, not just strangers - everyone. his friends just seem to be better at reading past his mask. just scratching the surface dave immediately comes of as an "insufferable prick." and this is true. but he has more than that. he was raised to have a very cool self image, and he does. the thing is, he's only cool sometimes. most of the time he tries way too hard and ends up looking like quite the opposite - a dork. this doesn't matter though, he still has the constant self-image of "being cool." you could say that dave is somewhat of a hipster. he enjoys listening to niche bands and...collects dead things.

while dave strider always tries to maintain a cool persona, there are times when he completely looses it. and by this i mean: he completely freaks out. and when he does, he doesn't admit to it. often dave will ramble. it doesn't matter who he's speaking to - he'll ramble in strange metaphors and create very elaborate scenarios in his head. dave does create things as well - photography, music, raps, and they're not too bad. dave loves attention, and you could safely label him as an attention hound. he draws attention in with his creations, and often will get into rap battles. despite all of these quirks and flaws, dave strider is completely and utterly selfless. he would do anything for his friends, no matter the cost. overall - dave strider is one mellow dude.

Name: Karkat Vantas

Personality: Karkat's most notable trait is his temper. Despite simple crabbiness, Karkat's voice is nearly always raised. This anger is intense and passionate, but merely a shell. An exoskeleton that he puts up - perhaps subconsciously - as a defense. It lashes out at his friends and loved ones, and soils his language with foul words. Seriously, he swears a lot. Often, though, he'll create colorful insults while flustered. Angry, but really only aggressive about getting the things that he wants. Leadership is important to him, especially since he obviously is the only one who actually knows what they're doing, and without him his friends would certainly fall apart. Right? Of course.

Rage isn't the only thing that resides in Karkat. In fact, the flame of anger can be rooted to one thing: his self-loathing. Karkat tries to tell everyone else that he hates them to cover up the fact that the only thing he has ever hated has been himself. He is someone who cares deeply about the wellbeing of others around him - especially his friend. Affection is an emotion he feels the need to avoid, cover up, or mock. Karkat is mostly a controversy to his own personality - he says he hates but he only loves. He pushes away red feelings but obsesses over romantic comedies. Perhaps its only ironic. Overall, Karkat is a good friend to have - as long as you have him in small doses. He can be cowardly, and often panics in severe situations. He is more dependent than he'd care to admit, and he is unafraid to speak his mind. He will point out your mistakes, and call you out on what needs to be called out.
