"Moonlily!" Cherrybreeze yowled, startled at her friend. "'Are you alright? Should I call for Meadowpelt? You don't look alright," she mewed, panicked. "Was it something I said? Are your kits coming?" Cherrybreeze was confused, and inexperienced in all aspects in this department.

Moonlily relaxed her grip on her nest a tiny bit, relief flooding her eyes as she realized she was back in the real world. "No... I-I'm fine..." she meowed. "They're not coming yet... I'm fine..." she repeated, trying to convince herself that she really was fine. It was now that she could almost feel the blood on her paws again... The blood of her dead mate, her claws filthy with his blood... Moonlily shook her head slightly, making sure she did not go into another flashback. "I'm fine..." she whispered again, a little quieter this time. He's nothing but a traitor... Nothing but a rotten, stinking traitor...

Cherrybreeze's eyes were full of concern, and she nuzzled Ebonykit as she watched her friend closely. "Are you sure Moonlily? If there's something wrong, you can tell me," she murmured, feeling like Moonlily was hiding something from her. "But then again, I'm probably overreacting, huh?" She mewed, putting on a smile and trying to raise Moonlily's spirits.

"Yes, I'm sure. I'm fine, there's nothing wrong," Moonlily forced a smile on her face, trying to make it look natural. She probably failed. "It's just... The father..." her voice shook as she spoke, her smile instantly dropping. "He and I don't have very great history..." she added with a tiny, almost imperceptible chuckle, thinking back how their last time seeing each other with each other's blood on their paws... "No... Not at all..." she whispered, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. A little louder, she added, "As I said, I'm fine. I truly am." She forced that fake smile back onto her lips.

"Alright Moonlily, I completely understand," Cherrybreeze mewed softly. "You don't have to tell me about it, who your mate was is your business. I just want you to try to be happy, you have no idea how blessed you are to get kits of your own!" she smiled, and was fully aware of Moonlily's pain. "Try not to cling to the past, alright? Hold on to the bright future ahead of you, and none of that will have mattered."

Moonlily gave a small nod, appreciating her friend's words. "Thanks. I just hope the kits won't remind me of him..." she whispered, the dread of the horrible idea showing clear in her voice. "But sometimes the tiniest things can bring up memories... He killed my brother, y'know..." she added with a hint of hatred in her voice. "I can never forgive him for that. I saw it with my very own eyes," she meowed again. Honestly, talking about it made her feel a little bit better. She could talk about some things, like some things he had done, but other things... Moonlily wasn't so sure she was ready to discuss with anyone yet.

Cherrybreeze's eye's opened wide, in shock. "Moonlily, I'm so sorry..." she whispered. "I had no clue...that you went through something so awful..." For just a moment, Cherrybreeze looked down at her kits, and tried to imagine what she would feel like, being reminded of a kin-killer with every glance at her own child. The thought disgusted her, and she nudged her kits closer for comfort. "Now I see why you feel so worried..."

Moonlily nodded again, then cleared her throat. "Yes. I have gone through quite a lot, but it's all led up to greatness. I mean, if I hadn't gone running from his bloody body that day, how would I have ended up in the clan? Trust me, even if one of the kits do remind me of him, I will still love them all the same," she began to purr again. "Plus, my kits will be much safer her than out with the loners and rogues," Moonlily pointed out with a smile. Sometimes it helped just to look at the bright side of things. Best not to focus on what could go wrong or what has happened.

Autumnkit stirred, yawned and woke up. He blinked at his mother. "Hi." he mewed, and then purred. He was starting to talk pretty well.
