This is how it goes: a single member from 10 different schools will be chosen to attend a paid trip to Africa. While there, the 10 lucky winners will get to research a certain animal group up close and personal. Winners will be chosen based upon GPA. Thank you all for participating, and bahati nzuri (good luck)!

The flier is placed in your hand by your teacher. At first, it seems like just another stupid promotion that the school does. But then, attached to the flier, are pictures sealed in a folder of past participants. After flipping through the stack, you can only think of one thing: I must win this trip.

A few months to by after you have turned in the necessary paperwork to apply for the trip. When, quite suddenly, a click on the intercom signals and announcement.

"The winner of the African Research Trip is..."





1. All CS rules apply
Well, quite an obvious one. But some must be reminded.

2. If you reserve a spot, you have 24 hours to get the form up
If it is not up by then, I will open it to allow someone else to claim it.

3. Do not join if you will not remain active
This RP requires everyone to be active, so please be sure that you can actively roleplay on this thread.

4. Only 5 girls and 5 boys will be accepted
Do not ask me to create another spot so that you can join, because I will not

5. All characters must be between 16-18 years old
As stated by the age requirements for this "trip."

6. I have pre-selected images for use, so use them
I've had problems in the past with characters with way too many piercings or tattoos, so I have taken the liberty of pre-selecting images for each person. Use only these images, no other/s.

7. No powerplaying, GS, or MS
Basically, don't control another player's character, and not everyone is perfect, okay?

8. Do not make up animals
All of the animals in the reserve are listed in the "Meet the Animals" section. The only animals that can be random are insects, which should be a minority in your roleplaying.

9. Keep things appropriate, please
When cussing, star out the entire word except for the first letter. Also, use *fade to black* for overly explicit romance scenes.

Welcome to Mwamba Reserve! This reserve features a HUGE savannah. Within the savannah are several watering holes, a forested area, a rocky area, and a dust bowl area.

Now, onto some human aspects. This is camp. It is a wooden boardwalk with 10 cabins lined up along it, one for each person. The interiors look like this. Nice, huh? Well, the cabins also feature a bathroom and a kitchenette. Each cabin has electricity, plumbing and water, as well as a TV. Outside of the cabins and in front of the boardwalk is the dining area. That's about it.

personality:
Ryan is not one to care about what others think of him, but instead for what they gain from him being there. Although not a continual paradox, this contradicts itself every once in a while; he, when disturbed from sleep or hungry, will simply not care about anything. He will respond to the worst of insults with a tempered nonchalance, retreating without so much as a glance or a word; helping others does not even occur to him in this state - he is just trying not to become angry, and whatever is locked behind that wall, although an odd sort of beast, doesn't bother any creature so long as he decides not to let it. He is apt to make friends, but if he feels he dislikes them or is disliked by them, he, on occasions, drifts away or goes silent when he would normally speak. He is usually a very amiable person, though, and is very enthusiastic about pointing out wildlife if he believes it won't be annoying. He absolutely adores felines, and his responses to the creatures can be nearly comical; he does, however, appreciate all kinds of animals (except for vultures) and has a special interest in some kinds of foxes, claiming the red fox, vulpes vulpes, as his favorite animal. He memorizes most of what he reads and takes a great interest in it, putting a behemoth effort into something he's, unfortunately, noticed most teenagers don't care about in the least. Consequently, his mind processes some things faster than others, and although he is withdrawn very slightly in social situations, he can observe an animal without yelling; it isn't a mark of his character to be insolent, although he will turn sarcastic when provoked. The Ryan most people see is a decent character, a polite person who says nothing bad of anyone but who can sometimes become submerged in a trance of sorts, refusing to say anything to a friend.
history:
Ryan is typically not one to glance into the past; there is nothing of interest to him there but his parents, lightly eccentric individuals who preferred to let him do what he wanted, as long as it didn't harm another person. He had serious socialization problems early in his childhood, shying away from befriending his classmates; a switch of schools appeared to mend his fear, but a trace of it still lingers and he is not one to integrate himself into large groups. He has always loved felines, for as long as he can remember - although his favorite feline was the tiger and he disliked the misnomer "king of the jungle" being attached to lions (as they obviously dominated the savannah; not the rainforest), he would've gladly taken a chance to learn about them earlier or later on in life. He was raised to be a calm human being, but the lack of food gives him hypoglycemia, in which he is more irritable and often unwilling to do that which he isn't obligated to. Otherwise, his sense of guilt is a very strong one, leading him to do dangerous things if they won't hurt anyone but himself.
likes:
Yellow, blue and orange are his favorite colors; pink used to be one of them, but melted away with an awareness of what was expected of a male. He adores the cold, unbelievably - the heat doesn't agitate him, but African nights are his favorite. Stars. Beef jerky of a very specific brand tastes delicious to him, but barring that, he loves ham and other things. His friends; his parents. Time alone. The usual.
dislikes:
Potatoes. Seeing living things in pain. Sickness; he gets sick more easily than expected, and it is never a pleasurable experience. The death of anything. Everything else he can endure, although he has a small phobia of vultures and doesn't like spending hours with crowds (he does it anyways).

Swimming, mainly; running, however, helps to keep him out of trouble with his body, and he participates in it as much as can be expected with his schedule.

personality: Hailey is a cold, quiet person. She is usually too focused on getting good grades to make friends, or have a good time. In school, she is generally respected by her peers, and always counted on to have the correct answer. Because of this, she has developed a bit of a prideful ego. This girl hates to be proven wrong, or humiliated. She'll usually get angry, which leads to the next features: Her lack of patience and her explosive temper. She is very easily angered, and always has a hard time keeping her cool. She can be a good teacher, but she gets irritated when people don't understand things immediately. When she was younger, she was chubby and had a short, boy-haircut, and people always made fun of her. This made her extremely competitive, and she loves proving her adversaries wrong. She always tries to be the best. No, she always has to be the best.
An interesting fact is that Hailey has a low tolerance to caffeine or sugar. When she has some of either, she'll go crazy hyper, literally bouncing off the walls. She finds nearly everything funny, and will do silly or stupid things. She usually laughs herself to tears. This could last from 15 minutes to hours.
history: Hailey grew up in the small town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her mother was an bookish intellectual, and her father was a rough-and-tumble biker. She didn't know how they ended up with eachother. Both lived in the state, and she bounced back and forth between her divorced parents. They had gotten married for a short time, had her, then divorced when she was 5. Her mother taught her lots, having her learn to read by age 3. Her father always had fun with her, taking her out sledding in the winter, on motorcycle rides in the summer, things like that. He taught her about guns, and how to shoot. Now, when she travels alone, she carries a revolver. It isn't needed, though, as she is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her mother thought she needed a sport, as she gained weight around 8, and her father wanted her to be able to defend herself from the bullies at her school. So, she mastered the sport.
Hailey was an A+ student, except for one blemish on her school records: When in 7th grade, at age 11, two kids were messing with her and she punched them both in the face, then knocked them to the ground.
