Barti's fury suddenly returned. "If Yuki ever comes back, I won't let any of you near her. We'll run away and find a place where it's safe, and you'll never get to her. I swear!"

Yara rolled his eyes and watched as Shade was swept away. There was nothing he could do now... "I'm sorry." He narrowed his eyes, although not looking at Barti. He kicked backwards, trying to kick him in the face. It was hard to dodge his blow, but Barti might have. "Shut yer trap pup."

I didn't DESERVE Yuki...But she loved me anyway. And look where that got her. Shade opened his eyes.

Barti didn't have time to dodge. He yelped when Yara kicked him.

Karrie growled at Yara. "What are you doing?"

"Fighting back," Maine said, gritting her teeth. She had seen the entire thing. Barti was going out of control! It wasn't Shade's fault! She had a gift for sensing lies. He hadn't lied, or she would have known.

Koji appeared on the other side of the water, with the knife still stuck in her chest. The wounds from where the human had shot her had quickly become infected and very painful. And it was the same for her re-opened bear wounds. She flattened her ears and looked at Rako, seeing he was with Willow again. She realised she had to let him go now...He was much happier with Willow and Willow was teaching him how to be a healer. But all Koji had done for him was find him as a tiny pup and bring him to Shadow Pack, and sometimes help to protect him. But she had to move on now...She took the end of the knife in her mouth and pulled hard to try to pull it out, but it had gone in too far and the damaged skin around it had sealed it in already. She started to walk off and after a few steps, she looked over her shoulder at Rako for probably the last time, then carried on walking away in silence...

Rako pricked up his ears and padded briskly off. He circled round and jumped out of the bushes in front of Koji, snarling. When he realised who it was, he stood there, shocked. Could it really be her? But she was dead? "Koji?"

Koji looked away from Rako and carried on walking, pushing past him.

[Solanum]

"Koji, what is wrong? Let me help you, you're hurt." He jumped ahead of her, blocking her way. "Koji please. Then I promise to let you go, you can't stay with me forever, I understand."

Koji looked at Rako for a few seconds, then pushed past him again. She started running to get away from him, but her legs started hurting after a while and she had to slow down again. She stopped behind a bush and looked at the knife that was stuck in her chest- It needed to come out somehow...
