Kimi watches him curiously, not sure what was off about him but something was. She paid no attention to the lesson, it was just another lecture about her parents. She furrows her eyebrows after a while, chewing on her bottom lip as she tried to figure out what was bugging her about him.

The substitute glanced at Kimi, "Is there something wrong, Miss Kuran?" he asked her. Shiro slightly narrowed her eyes. Something was off about this man...what was it?

"Nothing's wrong... Well, I guess a tiny thing is wrong; this isn't the way mum and dad described their whole highschool thing; they tell it different than the textbook." Kimi lies, hoping Shiro would play along if he asked her to confirm. She tries to look a little less inquisitive after that, leaning back against the window.

The substitute looked at Shiro, just as Shiro stopped the small glare. "Is that true?"
Shiro nodded, "It is. That's not how the story goes, the textbooks are usually wrong."

"I'm surprised dad didn't get ahold of the textbook manuscript before it was printed; he usually corrects that kind of thing before it gets published." Kimi adds, brushing her shaggy bangs away from her face. She was glad Shiro went along with her lie.

Shiro grinned to herself, "Ah, I think he was busy at that time." she said. She remember that he had skipped out on checking some manuscripts because her mother insisted he spend some time off of work.

She nods briefly, agreeing with Shiro. "But please, continue." Kimi says, folding her hands neatly in her lap. She still couldn't figure out what was bugging her about this teacher.

The substitute nodded, and went on teaching. Shiro glanced outside, at Shin. She sensed his confusion and tense aura. Maybe it was the substitute after all...
