Intro:
Anime. A form of entertainment that many love, and many don't. Many wish that the oh so perfect...or not so perfect characters of their favorite anime were real. That they could escape the tortorous grip of real life and dive into the divers and amazing world that cannot be a reality. But that's about to change. September 8, 2012 was the day everything changed. Many believed the world was going to end in 2012, but scientists finally disproved the idea and all the buzz calmed down. But that day, something incredible happened.

September 8, 2010, 6:43 AM:

Dear Diary,
Oh my gosh.....At exactly 5:45 AM in the morning, a strange warp opened up above Pensacola, Florida and everyone with in the city or nearby was engulfed in a light so bright, that no one could see. Well, that's what I assumed. With in seconds, the light was gone and everything was different....Everything was...2 dimensional. I mean, the house, Oliver, even me.... Everything now looks as if it were in an anime. And I think that's kind of what happened....As soon as the light was gone and I had gotten over the shock, I ran outside to find everyone and everything 2 dimensional as well. But what surprised me was that I swear, I saw Sasuke Uchiha jump from Heather's roof onto the ground and run away. Isis claimed to have seen Deidara fly by on one of his clay bird. And then, I think I saw Yuuki Cross and Kaname Kuran hiding behind the next door neighbor's house. Now I know I'm going to sound absolutely crazy...But I believe that Pensacola, Florida has become an anime...

Personality: Despite his young age and inexperience, Ritsuka is very intelligent and approaches things with startling maturity. The circumstances of his life encourage his lack of innocence; however, there have been notable incidents that bare his still-strong naiveté, particularly in love and dating. Despite this, he still has firm opinions and unrelenting ideas about those subjects.

It is these opinions that clash dramatically with adults and authority figures around him, most notably Soubi. Ritsuka is a pacifist, and strongly opposes violence under any circumstance.

Love is an uncomfortable subject for Ritsuka. He is wary of compliments and affection, and early on in the series is troubled when Soubi says "I love you" frequently. Ritsuka doubts this is true and has trouble tolerating it, and because of Ritsuka's cynical reaction, Soubi stops saying it altogether after volume 2 of the manga. Still, Ritsuka's inner conflict over whether he believes what Soubi says becomes a source of great tension and bitterness in their relationship. However, as the story progresses, Ritsuka realizes how much he needs Soubi despite his rash attitude at times; when he tells Soubi to leave him alone, he is often seen staring at his cell phone waiting for a call or a text message.

To an extent, Ritsuka seems to have a certain charismatic personality that attracts easy infatuation, which can be found in his therapist, Yuiko, Semei, and Soubi. Ritsuka's relationship with everyone develops a little more with each volume, although not much has been said or shown about Ritsuka's father and he still remains a rather unimportant figure in his life, unlike his mother and brother. Ritsuka is a very determined and pure child that is easily recognized and sometimes taunted by other Fighters and Sacrifices. He does not enjoy being the 'Master', and nor does he enjoy ordering Soubi around like a dog, no matter how much Soubi wishes it. He believes in free will and creating one’s own destiny. He also refuses to punish Soubi because of his past experiences in which he was disgusted by how he was abused by his mother.

History: Up until he turned ten, he lived a normal life. But then his older brother Semei died, and he took on an alternate personality. Even he doesnt understand how this happened, but his mother constantly beats him for 'not being her son anymore'. He came upon Soubi, who now protects him as 'loveless' and 'beloved'.

Personality: As ordered, Soubi contacted Ritsuka Aoyagi (Seimei's younger brother) after Seimei's "death" and became Ritsuka’s Fighter Unit, introducing him to the world of Fighters and Sacrifices. Soubi fought beside Seimei for a time before this and many believe he is Beloved’s Fighter. However, the appearance of Nisei Akame later in the manga proves this to be false. Soubi was revealed to not have a “true name” at all – Ritsu in fact comments that he is a blank slate, and whatever marking he is given becomes his name; Since Seimei carved Beloved into his skin, it became his name. Soubi now fights for Ritsuka as Loveless, which is considered taboo because there is not a fighter-sacrifice bond between them. There is also a severe loss of strength, and in Soubi's case, his markings bleed in battle.

Soubi appears to know much more about Semei and his "death" than he will divulge. Despite saying he would do anything Ritsuka wanted, and despite Ritsuka’s insistence that Soubi tell him everything he knows, Soubi refuses. In volume 5 of the manga, Soubi declares “Seimei is my God” and openly states that he lives his life by Seimei’s orders, but still says he’ll obey Ritsuka’s every order, which isn’t necessarily true.

During the course of the manga, Soubi unintentionally falls in love with Ritsuka, and at the beginning frequently touches, kisses and caresses the younger boy, though on many occasions states that he is not a pervert. As the series goes on, it becomes clear that although he had been ordered to love Ritsuka in the beginning, he comes to truly care for him, acting at times like a protective older brother regardless of the sexual innuendo present. He also seems to be very possessive of Ritsuka, if his often frightening faces according to his classmate, Kio and the Zero pairs words are anything to go by. History: Soubi used to attend a school for fighters known as 'Seven moons academy' but he was overly treated by the headmaster, who whipped him on occaision, saying 'you musn't cry out when he was in pain. It is revealed that the headmaster was responsible for getting rid of Soubi's ears at a very young age.
