Freak of Nature (Semi-Lit)

"Wha' is yer name?" Sheila asked, staying where she was and looking back and forth at the girl, switching between her eyes to get a good picture of the girl. The falcon made sure she looked as relaxed and harmless as possible, and did a pretty fair job at it considering she was a bird of prey. "I'm Sheila."

Lilith was silent for a few seconds, staring at the bird in front of her. She found her voice after those seconds and spoke. "Lilith..." she murmered. She licked some honey off her fingers as she looked at Sheila. "Do other birds like you talk?" Lili asked, genuinely curious. She moved closer to the falcon to get a better look, now more interested than scared. Of course, she still kept her distance.

Sheila blinked, "Nice ta meet ya Lilith." She twittered, then chuckled at the question. "No...Like ye, I'm a freak of dis freak show." She answered as she watched the girl approach to get a better look. Sheila remained still and allowed the girl to study her, her black feathers looked like shiny oil and contrasted beautifully with the golden feathers that shimmered in the sunlight like the honey the girl had just enjoyed. The bird's eyes were quite unusual, having irises exactly matching Blake's; amber and seeming made of molten flames that moved in the depths of the colors.

Lilith suddenly frowned deeply. "I am not a freak," she said in a suddenly firm voice. She scooted away from Shelia and crossed her arms. Why would the bird call her a freak? That was rude! Lili turned her back toSheila. She didn't understand that Sheila had not meant the term in an offensive way. Lili should'be realized that Sheila had called herself a freak too, but she didn't.

Sheila chuckled, "Sorry ta offen' ye, meant nu'in by it girly." She twittered, "But dis is a freak show....So I assume ye are a freak jus' as da res' o' us are?" She winked jokingly, hoping to lighten the girl's mood, however she doubted she had just helped the situation at all. ((slight wb, my apologies)

Lilith got up and went back into the cart, closing the door with a slam. The rest of the honey Sheila had given her had been abandoned outside the cart. Lilith went to a corner and curled up again. She wasn't a freak, was she? Lili sniffled softly, growing more upset over it.

[Falls]

[Busy week and weekend. Another busy week to come, but I ain't disappearing.]

Jem gave a small flinch when Harmony confirmed his own thoughts about sitting on the roof. It was strange and worthy of unwanted attention. He didn't bother hiding his displeased expression from his face since he was talking to a blind girl, his voice remaining quite dismissive and lulled as he spoke. "I vas vatching zeh sunset," he explained briefly. "Zeh roof has a good view."

Jem moved quite like a cat to get off of the roof. First he leaned forward, peering over the edge and mentally preparing himself for the drop as his muscles bunched up in anticipation. Then with an almost lazy movement, he pushed off toward the ground with his hind legs and landed with a croutch in the grass. "Vaht are you doing, valking around alone," he asked bluntly. Harmony certainly was not the adventerous type to be out for a walk in the camp of a freak show.

Ringmaster threw an arm around Ghost and frowned disapprovingly as he held him close and poked a finger in the boy's chest. "Actually, it IS a big deal. You can't just invade a Freak's privacy when you don't even own the place! I own the place. I do the invading." His reddish maroon eyes looked over Ghost with an air of superiority for a moment before he gave a gruff scoff. Teenagers... "Tell you what," he began, his attitude turning cheerful. "You," he pressed a finger into Ghost's chest again, "kill me," he pointed to himself, "and then you can have the right to do the invading. But of course, be sure to watch your back. Roslynn is a hellhound and Daniel cannot die." He snickered at the thought of Roslynn and Daniel pounding someone into the ground on Ringmaster's behalf.

(Don't feel bad. Tech week for my school play starts on Monday so I won't be on hardly at all until that's over.)

Harmony

"Oh," Harmony said quietly, "Must be nice."
She shook her head and dismissed that particular train of thought though. Wishing and moping wasn't going to improve things for her in any way. No use dumping her sadness on other people. She waited and listened as Jem moved around. There was a soft thump as he landed on the ground. She turned towards the sound, hoping she was actually looking at him. She was pretty good at figuring out things like this but sometimes she got a bit off target, especially with people who were quieter. Jem was one of those people sometimes.

She frowned when he asked what she was doing out here alone,
"I needed some air. I can handle myself. The people here might be weird, but no one's going to attack me," she said.
She realized she sounded a bit more bitter than she had meant and she regretted what she said immediately. She hated it when people treated her like she couldn't handle herself and she always over reacted. He was just concerned. That's all. But the grumpy part of her said he shouldn't have to be. She pushed that thought away.

Ghost

Ghost made a face when the Ringmaster looped an arm around his shoulder and poked him. He tried to pull away with no success.
"Yeah, you're doing that thing again, dude," he said, "You know the thing where you pretend like we're trained monkeys instead of, I don't know, actual people? With free will and stuff?"
After being poked again he went intangible again and slipped out of the Ringmaster's grasp,
"And unlike you I don't see murdering people as a solution to everything, so I'll be declining that challenge of yours...if that's what it even was," he said, "Dude, I know you run the place, but how about showing us a little respect, huh? We could all just get up and walk out of here if we get fed up enough with all this bullcrap of yours."
He frowned and crossed his arms. He was getting into dangerous territory right now and he knew it, but he didn't care. He kind of got off on pushing the Ringmaster's buttons.

Sheila sighed, [/I]Good goin' Sheila, scarin' da newbies an' insultin' dem...[/I] The falcon grumbled in her thoughts. "I'm sorry girlie, didn' mean ta insult ye!" Well, see ya." She sighed and spread her wings, preparing to take off and fly.

((GAH! WB why you plague me so?!))

Hunter blinked a couple times as he processed the information given to him, his mind trying to work out whether or not William was telling the truth. Suddenly the young boy looked relieved. "That's good, I thought I was gonna have to go speak to Ringmaster about the fact that a replacement wouldn't do much good if he wanted us gone." He chuckled, seeing Roslynn's confused look he added "I thought this guy was another 'Skin Changer' like my and Lyra." He flicked his eyes back to William with a mischievous look, "If that were the case I'd make sure he'd never change faces again." The boy laughed, his tail flicking in amusement. Sometimes it seemed as if the twins' tails had minds of their own.
"Well, in that case, Welcome," he said with a smile and tilt of his head. "I'm Hunter, Skin Changer, Face Stealer, whatever else they call my particular talent." HE moved the to-go box into one arm and outstretched the other to the main claiming himself as 'Ringmaster's Brother'.

Roslynn's nose twitched at William's reaction to how Hunter chose to go about his inquiring the stranger in amusement, however she become very confused by Hunter's word choice, sometimes the way humans spoke still didn't make any sense to the hellhound. The boy explained himself and Roslynn gave a very subtle nod of understanding, sitting down and boredly licking at a bit of dirt on her foreleg while she waited for the two males to finishing becoming acquainted with one another.

Lilith heard the falcon leave and calmed down a little bit. She got up and slowly inched out of the cabin and looked around. Lili headed back to the elephants and petted them lightly.
