Yeah but why would that matter? I mean people aren't really gonna search through your items to see what you hoard anyway ;v; It seems like a pointless thing to do when you don't want offers on your items, if they're on your wishlist people will probably offer them to you ;7;

I post all of my hoards on a thread and stick the link in my trading rules. A thread can hold a lot more than the rules can. Just sayin'...

Ah - I didn't think of that one.
What do you mean by "at your discretion?" I'm just not sure what that implies.

I think offsite trades are fine. I can't think of a specific problem there would be with them at the moment. I mean if you said on a trade thread "I want X amount of currency for Y pet" and someone offered you some other random currency, way less, etc. that seems like a fine rant. Can you think of anything that might get to be a problem?

by that I mean like CS is not responsible for what happens they cannot reverse your trade if say you send something and never receive the other side of the offsite trade

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah... I dunno. I can't think of anything that would jump out at me as a problem - I mean I think site bashing would count as pretty rude so that would of course be out but... I dunno. It sounds fine to me. :)

I'm gonna go update the front page now and figure out the agenda so if anyone has any more suggestions of what can be thrown in before I get there let me know. :)

Well, I remember I didn't even post there anymore, because people were very rude when they replied. I even got some PMs I almost reported... I still have 1 of those users on my foe list.
Maybe if there are clear rules that it might be open again... But last time I checked TRT (months ago!) it was a place where people started figthing, and I don't want to see that happen again.
But if we can make it a place where you can just rant about bad trades, then I am willing to give it a try

Also, about the offsite trading... Don't allow it. People will post so much, you can create a new thread every 2-3 days. And to be honest, I have seen stuff with GP and I don't know what else. It doesn't say anything to me. How can I know what is fair for a pet or item, if I don't know the value?

Ok I just went to the TRT and people are STILL replying to each other, so I don't see why the whole CS community should suffer for a few individuals.

I've also always been a little on the fence about the whole replying deal. There are always two sides to every story and it's instinct to want to defend yourself against someone who is publicly trying to shame you.

I remember getting really upset once because I sent an unfair trade to someone for an Advent, for a pet many tiers lower. I didn't realise until a while later when I sent an apology. Still, this person posted my actual trade rules which are very specifically worded on the TRT so people could easily identify me. I put in my rules that I know the Rares List. Well, I do that to deter ninja traders, I'm no expert. So I had to sit there and watch myself be publicly shamed without being allowed to reply to rectify the subject. That hurt me, especially since it was just a simple misunderstanding in the end.

So although I would like to reply to rants I think it would be best if this was still a rule, but the rule itself has to make clear that no identifiable information can be provided. At the moment it is just 'no user names', but there are many ways to find out who someone is, including signature/their likes/where they post/their rules etc.

On the subject of rants themselves, maybe there should be a posting limit. I agree with ziggy that you should rant JUST to rant. Perhaps there needs to be a 1 rant per day limit. What do people think about this?

In regards to offside trading...tricky. People value their pets differently and of course you want the best deal for your pet. If you hear or know of people who are getting a certain amount of offsite currency for certain pets then of course you want the same deal. I don't think it is fair for people to rant about people being "greedy" i.e. wanting the best deal for their pet.

In fact, I just want to eliminate the whole demand/greed aspect altogether. People have a right to cancel trades. So other users have NO RIGHT, in my opinion, to come on the TRT and spout how these others users are SO greedy...especially when, more often than not, if the tables were turned of course they would take overpay for a pet of theirs. I mean the hypocrisy on here sometimes is ridiculous.

So acceptable rants to me;
- Scammers
- Ninja traders
- People clearly not following your rules
- Changing a fair trade you have sent to a deliberately unfair trade
- Rudeness via cancel messages or PM's (NO identifiable information) <- obviously if too rude/offensive/bullying just REPORT
- People undervaluing/overvaluing certain pets/items/C$
- Demand IN GENERAL (no actual examples, just 'WHY is the August PPS still so high in demand' etc.)

Unacceptable rants;
- Actual fair trades
- People cancelling your trades
- How many people are getting on your FOE list/anything about FOEing in general.
- Boasting trades (clear overpays; 'wow! look what people paid for this pet')
- Ranting just to rant

Rants which are still appearing quite often on the TRT and are why I believe the rules need an update;
- Replying to rants (including quoting rules)
- NFT pets/groups
- Not being able to find a certain pet (usually accompanied with a picture of said pet)
- People letting trades rot...I think this needs to be looked at...I think it falls under "A trade taking too long to be accepted" but I'm seeing this more and more on the TRT. I think this needs to be cleared up.
- Offensive posts 'I hate this community', 'are you stupid?' etc. Seeing WAY too much of this.

I wasn't talking about people jumping on me because I ranted about them. I didn't put a name, just a link or another kind of rand, folloing the thread rules.
"I my not agree wth you, but I respect your opinion" is almost holy to me. I didn't feel any kind of respect for my opinion, people just jumped on me, biting my head off.
If we get clear rules, then I accpet. But if it changes into a fight thread again, as before, then I vote for remove the reply option forever.

The rule was implemented because of the constant fighting on the TRT, to the point where mods would need to be on the thread or watching it for quite some time. Once the rule was implemented, as you point out in your first post, the thread calmed down and people followed the rules. This has significantly reduced the workload and stress that thread has caused for the staff which allows us to re-allocate our work time into other threads which need immediate attention or tickets to help users who need it.

I am sorry you feel that this rule does not allow discussion, but there are a ton of threads that CS has in which you can bond to make friends; it doesn't have to be over mutual frustration about a trade. The rule will not be removed, as it has helped make the thread a nicer place. If you do see people replying, please report the posts and we will let them know they need to follow the rules.

It's unfortunate that it had to come to making that rule, but removing it now would surely cause the same problems, if not worse ones, than before.
