I saved the cat. Initially I wasn't sure if he was going to make it, but I doctored him up pretty well then took him to the Humane Society (No-kill shelter, don't worry) and they accepted him. Their vet said that he should be okay. Probably a coyote attack. I'll post in a little while.))
Resin- Alpha Female- 30 Summers
The Alpha's eyes widened slightly and she shared a look with her brother. It seemed as if this old wolf had dementia of some sort. There was no one near that she could see, so the female must be talking to herself.
When the old one mentioned that someone was going to die, Resin didn't doubt her for a moment and, upon hearing further that it was one female in particular that was being sought out, she knew that they had to act. "Ash. Bring her back with you. I think she means that this wolf is going to try and kill Curse. I need to go back to warn them. I doubt he'll stop with Curse."
Ash- Alpha Male- 30 summers
His eyes had widened as well at the wolfs words, but rather than believe them, he was skeptical. It was obvious that his sister believed her, however. When she told him that she was going to run back, he shook his head. "You're tired and weak from exhaustion. The pup and I laid out in the snow sleeping for days. I have more energy than I know what to do with. You bring her with you, I'll go warn them."
Not waiting for an answer, he turned on his heel and took off, speeding out of sight quickly. He ran as fast as his big paws would carry him. Keeping his head low, he cut through the chilly air, leaping snow dunes when necessary. A smell caught his attention that made him skid to a halt. Ash had just reached a spattering of trees when he smelled blood. Quietly he stalked towards the scent.
The sight that met him caught him off guard. It was a wolf, or what had once been a wolf at least. It was torn to bits. Blood coated the area. Steam still rose from the corpse, so this hadn't happened too long ago. He caught the scent of another; the murderer, he assumed. Padding around the outside of the blood pool, Ash came to a set of blood coated paw prints that sauntered off into the distance. With a growl, he started forward. The brute was headed straight towards the pack.
Darting off again, he howled, demanding that the pack be on high alert. He ran as fast as he could. Though it was night, he could make out a dark shape in the distance. Pulling his ears back, he pushed himself to reach the beast before it reached those that he needed to protect.
Pipaluk- Straggler- 97 Summers
Seeing the white wolf run off, she watched after him. "May the ancestors keep that one safe." Then she turned to the side, contemplating Nanuq's words. She nodded her grizzled, shaggy head before turning her attention to the young, dark female beside her. "My name is Pipaluk. I am...was... Keeper of the Past for the TangleTail Pack. They're long gone now." The old one brushed it off, saying this last bit matter-of-factly. "A madness took them. They killed each other. Not many notice an old ghost like myself, though." She chuckled to herself, flashing her one remaining canine.
Looking to the young wolf, she shook her head and followed the females gaze into the distance. "Your brother is in danger, young one. There's an order to things and he's about to disrupt it. Not that his sacrifice won't be accepted, mind you." Distracted, she whispered to her invisible companion, then turned back to the female, her voice grave. "You must go or you won't see him alive again. I will follow." Without waiting for anything from the dark wolf, she shambled on, her spindly legs and paws sinking through the deep snow with every step.
Resin- Alpha Female- 30 Summers
A retort rested upon her lips when Ash took off, speeding away from her. It was true. She was tired and she did feel weak. Nonetheless, she wouldn't have sent him off to do a job meant for her.
When the old wolf began to speak, Resin nodded. She knew of the TangleTail's. They had been one of the packs that she had met with. They had agreed to go South as well. Hearing that they were all dead, Resin's yellow eyes opened wide and she pulled her ears back against her skull. A madness? Mad wolves seemed to be crawling out of the ocean these days. "I'm sorry, Pipaluk, that your pack is gone. You're welcome to join ours." She introduced herself as the Alpha and gave the old wolf thanks for the warning, though it didn't appear that she was listening.
Yet another warning was to come, it seemed. Ash was in danger. She didn't doubt the old wolf's words in the slightest. He would meet with the black brute and it would end badly unless she hurried.
Pressing her paws hard into the snow, she threw her weight against the air, rocketing forward into a fast sprint. The fatigue made her body ache, but she ignored it as best as she could. Ash was in danger. Her body would not stop her from coming to his aid.
