James wasn't quite sure what time it was, but he was taking a small rest on the first floor of some house that looked like it was going to collapse any second. But it hadn't yet, and that was good enough for him. So, he was sitting on the floor, leaning back against a wall with his eyes closed. He wasn't going to sleep, because he knew that he wasn't safe where he was, and he couldn't rest properly until he found somewhere that he could bunker down, even if it was only for a night. The dark-haired male sat there for a good ten or twenty minutes, allowing his body to rest shortly, and to help with the small headache that he had gotten from one of the unaware victims attacking him.

When he stood, he brushed off the backs of his jeans, and combed his fingers back through his hair to keep it out of his face. He exited the broken down building with a soft snort of irritation and stuffed his hands into his pockets. Keeping his head down so that no one could see his face, he turned off onto the road and began walking. He could feel his quiver pressed against the outside of his right thigh, with a strap that went across his hips and another that kept the quiver from bouncing by strapping it to his leg. Of course, because he had a quiver, he had a bow, and he had that slung over his shoulder so that he could get to it without having to struggle with it. Aside from the bow and quiver -- which was, in fact, full of arrows -- he also owned a gun, which was holstered opposite the quiver.

i landed at the end of the flight of stairs, rolling my shoulders and sighing heavily, turning my gaze to the other girl and only giving a small quirk of a smile. "you lead, kay? cause i have no idea where we're goin' so." i shrugged, my best attempt of a smile fading as i turned my gaze away from her once more. "and uh. what're we gonna do once we actually get there? just, survive and find a way to live or..?"

"When we get there, we are just going to survive for as long as we can, maybe actually even try to live" She slid down the stairs of the second floor to arrive on the first floor. A single creature looked at them but Kacey had zipped ahead and had planted her knife in his head before it could think to eat them. Kacey stared at it for a second before looking aback at her and nodding that it was safe. She peered down the stairs and out the ground floor door that could be seen from here at her white Saturn. The car was left alone, nothing straggled past it. She listened for movement in front of her, but heard nothing.

i blinked and paused some, frowning slightly as i watched the creature crumple to the ground. i followed after the other, older girl and stuffed my hands in my pockets, thumbing at the handle of the knife I was given. i'd taken a strip of cloth and tied the sticks to my back as the worst substitute for a quiver ever, but hey, it was all i had. and it worked, so bonus point. i moved quickly, dangerously aware of every flicker of movement, fingers dancing over the knife handle. "sounds good to me. i'm good with that kinda thing."

Kacey sighed, opening the front door and sticking her head out. Down the sidewalk she could see her car, empty and alone on the street. All the others had been taken, driven out of the city like they were going to do after they hit a grocery store on the way out.

Josie awakens with a jolt. The heat is unbearable in the closed-up room and the walls seem to be collapsing. The burning sense of hunger overtakes her and she lashes around in bed, trying to regain enough control as to get to her feet. Finally, Josefina rolls straight out of bed and onto the floor. Dizzy, she hangs on to a bed post until she can get her balance. Footsteps below attracts her interest. Her parents must be home. Josie tries to tolerate the noise but is unable to bear it. She barrels down the stairs, leaping from the last step onto all fours, her gaze shifting everywhere at once. Her eyes lock on to her older sister, Juliette, and she bares her teeth. The canines in her mouth had gradually been elongating into fangs, and now they protrude from her mouth and show on her bottom lip. Josie rises back onto her legs, shaking her head violently, trying to get the insane urge to eat and hunt out of her head. With the full moon approaching, she feels even more feral and uncontrollable.

i rose an eyebrow at her, managing to avoid rolling my eyes. "i'm used to that. i grew up alone, for the most part." i shot her a sly smile, waving a hand at her and shifting my weight. "in all seriousness, though, i understand." i gazed at her car for a while and chewed my lip, running a thumb over my knuckles and narrowing my eyes. i wasn't about to invite myself into a, relatively, strangers car. i stood there silently, messing with my fingers and frowning at how bony they've gotten. my eyes scoured over to the rest of my body, it having the same jutted bony-ness, thin clothes hanging loosely over my frame, remembering how hungry i was. "No one should ever have to live alone" She said. Kacey felt sorry for her. Kacey was still imagining about what life would be like past this point. She wondered if it would be horrible or great, nasty or fun. She knew life would never go back to what it was before this ordeal. When children could walk down the street with there moms on Sunday's and not have to be scared for their lives. Kacey wondered what her mother's state was in Spain.
