The Ur ice cat upon it's release went for higher sorbets and toxics, some even for non's. After a few months, it's demand died down rapidly as people began to see how many Ur ice cats actually got released. It's a bit like the Ur purple tess horse back in 09. However, because people kept saying 'it's worth a balloon dog' instead of letting it be more open -> 'Usually it goes between a sorbet and a balloon dog', it's been stamped with the balloon dog worth label.
They are being traded for balloons. But also for line-tribals (blame that on the tribal's demand???) and recently i even saw one go for a red tox. If only i could find that topic/trade >.>
Therefor i still believe that it should be above the balloon dogs. It doesn't have the same demand as the rats nor the ur apple/tess horse. It's a little more wanted then that i believe. I'd personally think it would sit good at the line-tribal layer.
The Ur aussie/dog still has loads of demand. While it's also 'more common' then the previous Ur dogs (duh lol) it did go for some incredible overpay upon it's release. The most i saw being paid for one was a sunjewel, but that was a desperate overpay i believe.
Common now seems to be between dogtag and non, non being what most people take because they don't have patience.
For it, i think between the sunback/coontail and the nonjewel. I've seen it go for more then nonjewels easily but getting more then a coontail seems to be a little harder? If we consider the insane reapplied demand that is going on with the coontail/sunback, and not with the july pps, then it's not too surprising that it's easier to get a july pps with the ur aussie then a sunback xD
The Ur pot. It's one of the hardest once to place, especially since at the start of it's release i've seen people pay only sorbets, it's value actually went up after the first few weeks. I strongly believe the Ur pot is the rarest of them all and do think that it deserves to be up there with the ur cucumber and the ur banana. In fact, i actually believe it might be just as rare as the ur cucumber, or even rarer.
This brings me to my next point! Moving down the Ur's. I feel that the 3 ur's need to be moved below the july pps and above the coontail. I also feel like the July pps should be merged together with the UR cat. There isn't that much difference in worth between those and both kinda suffer from lack of demand?
Other moves that need to be looked at;
- all sorbets to the same line, Joker stays below that.
- Gearback dropping one line
- RBM going up one line
- Blue PPS dragon going up one line???
- Store pets on the list. These need to be looked at carefully but i feel like the eat me and drink me need to be moved up. I auctioned my set and was offered a speckled rat for both. I ended up taking a yellow toxic for just the drink me! I know this is a huge overpay but i have had people offer me blue rose dog + for the drink me alone so i think it's realistic to say that it needs to be moved up.
I think the same about the androids and punk dogs, i feel like those should move up a bit as well.
The two butterbuns (Teal and red) should be merged with the current hyena dog layer. They aren't that much less rare anyways.
And as last, the november/09's list should be looked into in it's own topic :3
yay long reply is long 8D
Sorry to have DaDwarf's entire quote there, but I agree with it and hope to add my own small experience...
I've only been list trading for under a year, but here's my experience with UR Cucumbers, UR Pots, etc. My first few trades were weird and random because I learned the rares list as I went along (my first main list pet--coondog pup--was from the Dec re-release last year):
1. Received a Mountain Zebra for my Coondog pup
2. Received UR Cucumber for my zebra
3. Received GWJ for my Cucumber (bad advice this time--I was told the tier difference was minor and GWJ demand made up for it)
4. Received a UR Pot (can't remember what for)
5. Received UR Cucumber for UR Pot
6. Received a UR Pot for UR Cucumber
7. Received UR Cucumber for UR Pot
My experience has been that there is interest in the UR Pot, but clear demand for the UR Cucumber. The problem is that the Cucumber seems to be popular with new members (and list traders who just don't have enough to get higher than a non) and kids who are too young to trade on the rares list. On most days, I receive at least one offer on the Cucumber containing a few hundred pets (maybe 100ish rares) and it will turn out to be...everything that the person owns.
Plenty of people want it badly enough to trade everything, but not many list traders who could afford it will take it. I think if list trading were easier to understand for younger members, its demand would be stronger. In the last few months, I've turned down several offers that were at or around Noncoon level (I was offered a Noncoon once or twice but could not get them to add more). I'd hate to see it
lower than a non for sure (I feel that July PPS or UR Lion tier would be good if it must be moved). If it is being dropped for lack of demand, there are SO many other pets which also have an even worse case of high rarity/no demand...that it seems strange to single it out. I think it makes more sense to have the UR Pot/UR Cucumber on the same tier...than to the keep the UR Banana/UR Cucumber on the same tier.
Again, I don't have the experience and knowledge to provide an authoritative opinion. I've done a whole lot of trading in a short time so I might at least have some useful anecdotal evidence. From what I can see, the rares list is a war between rarity and demand in which both sides lose, when it might better be served as an average of actual trades collected from participating field researchers. If that isn't possible, why not split it up into "The Rares List" and "The Demand List"? Would it not better serve the trading community to be able to see a list of the rarest pets (and items) on the site and also be able to refer to a list of the pets (and items) with the greatest demand? What if a new trader swaps their Raven Dog for an Elf Rat because they are told the list is fair, taking both rarity and demand into account? How will they trade the Elf Rat back for a new Raven if they decide they preferred their original pet? It can't be fair if those two pets don't realistically trade both ways. I think the store pets need to be strongly reassessed, as well the rats and other pets with extreme differences between list placement and actual trade:

FHy16sAg1AI wish I had thought to save more trades, but I'm sure everyone knows that a Purple Sleipnir doesn't trade like a bottom Advent, nor an Orange Cerberus like a bottom Mainlist.
