Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

Xani was right, Attican was in no rush in getting his own share in the meal. As a Keeper the brute had decently high ranking when it came to feeding times, but he usually at least waited until the majority of the pack got to feed and then ate along with them. But today he held back.
Suddenly a loud 'thud' broke him out of his thoughts, a chunk of meat dropped by Xani falling by his paws. "Huh?" He muttered in his shock. Quickly the Elder shook his head, picking the meat back up and following the fighter. She had just hunkered down when he came up to her, dropping the part of the carcass again.
"This is yours." He spoke, craning his head down to look in the eyes of the female. He licked his mouth, the taste of the meal still lingering there. "Xani.." Attican paused, trying to look for his words. He did not want pity, that was the last thing he was going for. He had not gotten to this point in his life by being a pansy. "I have
chosen to not eat until the rest of the pack has their fill. This time is different, tomorrow begins a new unknown life and we don't know what we'll be up against. If you haven't noticed, I've seemed to take care of myself just fine just for the fact that I am still here. However in these times I also know my place." The Keeper shook his pelt out while sitting up again, craning his head back towards the direction of the feeding wolves. "Right now the the best interest of the pack is to have young ample strong members. They need strong fighters and hunters. My job has always been to give in to the best interest of the pack, not myself. The pack does not need an overgrown storyteller for survival."
Attican knew he did more than just be a storyteller. Actually, he did rather a few things - he still helped with hunts and with perimeters every once in a while, and he was especially an asset in the teachings of these ranks. Also he was there for the advice and service of everyone. but overall what he spoke of was true, and he would do anything for the pack.
"I thank you for your kindness though.." He trailed off at the end, standing back up. Attican sighed, loping back towards the group, waiting for his turn.
