Okay, I'm really sort of scared. Peter has always been a wheezy baby, ever since I got him and his sneezing cleared up but every now and then, about once a day, he sneezes. We talked to our rodent vet and he says it's just a minor problem due to the poor ventilation he had at te Petstore, so we don't worry about it unless he would ever stop eating or doing normal behavior or sneezing excessively. Anyways, today I was scratching the sweet little guy and all of a sudden he starts doing this sort of squeak- it's not a loud squeak; almost like a hiccup, and with every squeak his body would sort of jerk. After about ten seconds, he stopped and he was fine.

I googled it and owners say that rats' hiccups are silent, and it may be involved with his sneezing too. I called our vet but he is out, since it is Sunday. We may schedule an appointment tomorrow, but I think I will just ask him about it and if he doesn't do it anymore, we may just keep a close eye on him.

I'm really worried, I don't want my poor Pete to be in pain, but he seems fine; eating, drinking, playing, and cuddling as normal. Has anybody else had this happen to their ratties?

I might join your roleplay shebawolf. It looks a little below my literacy but, hey, it's rats! ^.^

So...has anyone tasted their rat food?
I decided that I would because my rats love it so much...never doing that again! Tasted like raw potato crossed with soggy crisps. X.X and yet they won't eat carrots!

On another note; Badger is getting better still, he propperly let me stroke him for the first time the other day, normally he shys from hands. He also climbed completely onto my hands volentarily and onto my back.

Mouse is still doing good, he is completely happy with me picking him up and touching him although he doesn't seem to impressed with being stroked but then I guess huge hands are scary.

Jacob and Marlo are their usual happy selves. They had crackers the other day as a treat, it was so adorable. They make me chuckle because I gave them the option of grapes or crackers, straight for the crackers then when it comes to the grapes they don't like getting their hands dirty and act all silly. XD

Our first rat used to do that a lot. We were never able to figure out what it was, but it didn't hurt her and she never ended up having any breathing issues because of it.
Our vet winged a guess at minor epilepsy but didn't have any confirmable idea about it. Maybe yours will have better luck(or atleast more extensive training).

I'm literally speechless at Mr Badger!
He was I'n a very friendly mod today. First out his cage to play and straight away he came and sat with me while I was drawing.

Then later on he was climbing up on me and sitting on my back.

Then the most amazing thing ever happend! I was putting them in and he was hiding so I called his name and he actually came straight out then up my back and into his cage! Litterally speechless! I mean I know I have been training them but Badger has always been the one who doesn't want anythi g to do with me or treats. My babys becoming an angel. XD
