Okay, I'm really sort of scared. Peter has always been a wheezy baby, ever since I got him and his sneezing cleared up but every now and then, about once a day, he sneezes. We talked to our rodent vet and he says it's just a minor problem due to the poor ventilation he had at te Petstore, so we don't worry about it unless he would ever stop eating or doing normal behavior or sneezing excessively. Anyways, today I was scratching the sweet little guy and all of a sudden he starts doing this sort of squeak- it's not a loud squeak; almost like a hiccup, and with every squeak his body would sort of jerk. After about ten seconds, he stopped and he was fine.
I googled it and owners say that rats' hiccups are silent, and it may be involved with his sneezing too. I called our vet but he is out, since it is Sunday. We may schedule an appointment tomorrow, but I think I will just ask him about it and if he doesn't do it anymore, we may just keep a close eye on him.
I'm really worried, I don't want my poor Pete to be in pain, but he seems fine; eating, drinking, playing, and cuddling as normal. Has anybody else had this happen to their ratties?
I might join your roleplay shebawolf. It looks a little below my literacy but, hey, it's rats! ^.^
