Mintfrost nodded, warmth flowering inside of her. She was proud that Foxclan might have a deputy soon; it would definitely take some stress off Stormstar's shoulders.
“That's great! I'd never even noticed Beetlefoot as deputy material.”
A cool wind picked up, buffeting against the two cats. She fluffed up her fur, but unfortunately the wind flattened it back against herself. Inwardly shivering, Mintfrost speed up her pace, hoping the black tom next to her would match her gait.

Stormstar gave a brisk nod, feeling the wind as well. He sped up too, matching her pace and keep in sync with her paw-steps.

Mintfrost purred quietly, mainly to herself, when she saw the flash of Stormstar's pelt out of the corner of her eye. She flattened her ears, so her shape would be more aerodynamic to easily withstand the wind.
“Race you back to camp?” She meowed loudly to Stormstar over the howling wind and then stopping abrutly. Digging her claws into the dirt, Mintfrost impatiently waited for his reply. The wind was stirring up the leaves, but also her excitement.

Stormstar nodded, stopping a bit further up but then back up to match her paws. "Three, two, one, go!" He yowled, and then rushed off, the soft dirt flying from his hind-paws.

Russetfur rolled his eyes a little, "Actually slept quite well, I was too tired to care whether or not my nest was wet." he mewed with a slight flick of his tail. "I'm about to take Whisperpaw out hunting, I'll send her out to gather some fresh and dry moss for everyone's nest. Some other apprentices will probably help her out, too." He mewed softly. He quickly licked his chest before casting a glance over at Whisperpaw to see if she was ready to hunt. He saw she was still with Harepaw, so he decided to leave her a little while as he turned back to Smokeytail.

Mintfrost dropped into a crouch, tensing up her back legs for a first burst of sped. She glanced over at Stormstar as he approached and then dropped back to be parallel with her own paws. Flickering her tail nervously, the sound of the leader's countdown rang in her ears until he yowled, which was when she darted forwards. Dirt flung into her eyes as she ran forwards, obviously from Stormstar. Mintfrost hissed and shook away the dirt from hear eyes; giving the tom an advantage in the race. Slowly, she managed to catch up to Stormstar and ran beside him, relishing in the moment more than the thrill of the race.

Stormstar sped up but then died down a little, almost giving Mintfrost and advantage back. He quickly glanced to see where she was, then he glanced back forwards, quickly dodging a tree.

Mintfrost swerved to the opposite side of the tree, then joining Stormstar's side once again. Up ahead, the tell-tale signs of camp started to blur past. They had actually travelled quite a distance. The sparrow hanging from her jaws bumped rapidly against her soft chest; she would've been able to do better without it there.
“Look! Camp up ahead!” Mintfrost managed to get out around the sparrow's mixture of feathers. She suddenly stopped, skidding for a few moments on her paws. The camp wall loomed up infront of her as the momentum died down. With her chest heaving, she looked over at Stormstar.

Stormstar nodded, managing to hear her words, his sparrow also bumping against his chest. The tom skidded to a smooth halt, bits of bust and the forest floor, flying from his paws. He closed his eyes and pulled his head back a bit and stopped just in front of the camp wall, a few millimeters from it. His heart pounded and he glanced over at Mintfrost, a small smile appearing upon his face. "Looks like you win." He meowed with a slight purr.
