Caramel Latte

Making coffee.

Caramel Latte is a friendly mare, with a big heart. She is always asking the costumers at the café how their day was. Manners are very important to Caramel, but she is really all about family, and she writes to them every week. Feeling down? Caramel is always there to lend and ear and some kind words.

Caramel Latte grew up on a small farm in the outskirts of Paris. Her family wasn't very wealthy, but they got by. She loved working one the farm, harvesting the wheat. But in the winter, times were hard since they couldn't grow any crops. To help put bread on the table, her father got a job in the city, pulling carriages for the tourists. Every day, he would come how, frost on his hooves and a tired look in his eyes. He always tried to put on a smile for Caramel and her brother, but she could see that the new job really took its toll on him. One day when her father came come, he was greeted by a wonderful smell that filled the house. He wandered in the kitchen and saw a mug of coffee waiting for him at the table. The sound of soft hooves could be heard throughout the house as Caramel trotted into the kitchen, dragging a blanket.

"Daddy, you're home early!" she exclaimed. Her face flushed red, "You weren't supposed to see this yet, it isn't ready..."
He smiled and scooped her up in his arms.

"Pumpkin, is this for me? It's lovely, thank you." Caramel beamed. His horn glowed as he lifted the mug up to his lips, and his pupils widened. "Why, this is the best cup of coffee I have ever had! Who taught you how to make this?"

"Mom showed me how, and I just added a few of my own touches." She watched as he sipped, and the color returned to his face. Her ears swiveled and she heard as twinkling behind her. Caramel looked at her flank, there were sparkles swirling around it. As the sparkles cleared, they left a picture of a cup, with a delicate handle and a heart hovering over it. "MY CUTIMARK!" she squealed and hugged her father, then dashed out of the kitchen to show the rest of the family.


Caramel Latte works at a French themed café in Canterlot, she mostly waits on tables, she has an amazing talent for making coffee, but hasn't had a chance to prove herself to her boss yet. She saves up a little every month, and once she has enough bit, plans to buy the coffee shop. She sends most of her coins to her family in France, at first they would send it back, telling her that her offer was too generous. But Caramel promised herself to look after her little brother and parents, even after she left the country, so she kept sending until they accepted. The were constantly sending letter telling her how much they appreciated it, and how much they missed their daughter and begging her to come home. Caramel's heart craves to return to the farm and see her family, but they need the money, and her life is in Canterlot now, she loves the café and wants it very badly, and even though it is taking some time to earn enough but, she doesn't give up easily.


I don't think of her as a clumsy pony, I just thought it would make a cute drawing ^u^ Art done by me.
