Irony
Irony is the fact that Dave put up so much of a fuss over Rose living, and got himself killed. Irony is Dave trying so hard to make himself look like a hero, and ends up saying that he never was. Irony is Dave trying to hard to get Jade, and he ends up getting killed by her. Dave Strider never truly needed to be ironic for the sake of irony. Apparently, it came easy to him. So, no one was really surprised when, after so long of trying to get Rose to stop drinking, he started to drink himself.
Hours of fighting with Rose about how she needed help, and yet he sat there, refusing to get any help. So, when Rose sat him down, she already knew what to expect. “Dave.” She called softly, sitting down in a chair, noticing the soft blonde hair that she automatically recognized as him. He was face down, laughing, or maybe it was sobbing, and clutching a bottle of wine. “We need to talk.” Dave simply grinned. Then, suddenly, he burst into laughter. Rose raises an eyebrow. “What is so funny?” She asks, grabbing his hand, just to have him pull it away. “After all of the things I went through, with trying to get you to stop drinking.” He stopped to laugh heavily for a few moments. “You end up giving me the speech about alcohol being bad.” He continues chuckling and looks up, eyes bloodshot, tears still streaming down his face.
“Pretty ironic, huh?”
