I was overjoyed at my lovely treat. I managed to say, "Thank you..." in the best humane voice I could, and slowly drifted away, extremely happy with my prize.

Beep Beep! I ran out of the street, just in time to escape the maniac of a driver who was headed right towards me. I ran into a dark allyway, only illuminated by the small lantern I was holding. I kept running and running, as fast as I could manage. My eyes quickly glancing at the lantern at every chance I got, desperate for it not to go out. If it went out, who knew what would happen in the dark. I wasnt afraid of the dark, though. I was afraid of what was in it.

After running for a few minutes, I certainly needed a break. Pondering the pro's and con's, I took a rest. I heaved my body up against the rugged red brick wall, well worn by weather and age. The first few breaths I took were heavy, my chest tightening and my throaght greedily sucking down air. This was too much for me, my body wasnt fit for such excersize. I ran my palms against the wall, trying to grasp something to hold onto, but ended up nicking my thum on a sharp piece of stray concrete. A small drop of silvery blood dropped to the ground. I stopped my breathing. Others thought that getting a paper cut or accideentally hurting yourself with a needle was no big deal, a drop of blood was such a rediculous thing to fuss about. But not mine. I was different.

As the drop of silver dissolved before it hit the ground, I ran once again. Not caring about how I couldnt feel my legs, or the way my lungs were burning. A moment later a dark, shadowy figure appeared in front of me. Paralizing my muscles with the unfair advantage of fear. My eyes pleaded for a second before my arm turned into a shadow. The figure disappeared as if not caring what would happen next. I dropped my lantern as the shadow extended to my hands and shoulders, leaving it shattered and the flame lifeless on the ground. A moment before it would grow past my neck, I thought about my last moment of life.

Nobody would notice, not tonight. Everyone would see me, but just smile and laugh. Nobody would know what really happened. Nobody would ever know what this night really meant. For tonight, was Haloween Night. I slowly drifted over to the nearest house in my shadowy gaseous form, holding out a bag I made from my own shadow, and did the only thing I now knew how to do.
I ran the doorbell, "Trick or Treat!"
