I don't know. All I know is that my brother's action replay killed his game and it won't work anymore. He had a lot of pokemon on it too.

I checked online and it said that certain cheats downloaded online will ruin your AR or game, like one I saw on youtube that said it will turn your game's region into kanto, but my friend tried it and it killed her game and there were a bunch of replies to the video saying that it crashes your game. I also read that downloading too many cheats will kill your game, so I think that as long as you stick to well known cheats and don't download too many to your game, I think you'll be fine
