Holly molly Wolf Charm! You're like the best writer.. Ever! This story is definitely one of my top ten! You make suspense and action so well! I'l totally stalking. Started it yesterday and read everything XD. Addicted.
I loved pistachio, but I think that is is good he died. it adds a lot more aspect and drama to the story.
Again, all I can say is wow. And if you publish it, I WILL under any circumstances, buy it. I'd edit myself to get it published! (And I don't really like editing.)
Hey, btw, do you have enough time you want to check out my latest story? Thanks!

    C H A P T E R N I N E T E E N

After leaving HQ, I had headed straight for home. They didn't get it, did they? I wasn't doing this for me, I was doing this for Raven. Why didn't other dogs listen to me? Ok, fair enough I may have a gone a tad over the top, but really? They should know that I - of all dogs - do not lie.

Anyway, you'd think that a hot-shot agent like me would live in a pent-house suite. But no, I went for a more stylish option- a caravan. It doesn't look like much, granted, but I call it home. With me living in HQ all the time, I didn't really need a big place to crash, so I chose here. I think it was left by the humans. Well, everything was left by the humans, but the animals have refurbished most things. I guess you could call this place an artifact if you liked. But back to the original subject; I need a plan. A plan so cunning that it could out-wit a fox that's just become president at the University of Cunning (in Oxford, of course).

When I got back, I punched the code into the key-pad on my front door - even though I live in a caravan, I'm still accustomed to the simple security needs of HQ. What? A girl's gotta have some protection. I stepped up into the caravan, which had only one room. It's pretty basic, but I call it home. I have a large bed with a fluffy purple pillow in the corner, with blue blankets draped from the ceiling surrounding it, so if I need to nap in the middle of the day, it's dark enough. But it's generally just a place to chill. I also have a dark blue sofa (which is currently ripped to shreds with stuffing and springs and all manner of random objects sticking out), a tiny TV, which picks up just three channels - the top secret channel that HQ tune into, Comedy central for a good laugh, and HD, which just covers the basics like drama and horror. Then at the other side of the room, I just stack all my food. Well, I wouldn't exactly say stack, more like messily pile up.

I headed over to my food pile, grabbed a small rabbit and carried it over to the TV. I pressed a button on it with my nose, and tuned into HQ (just in case). Then I sunk my teeth into the rabbit and pulled out a chunk of flesh. While chewing, I began to hatch a plan. I was going to have to go solo on this mission.

Blood dripped from my canines onto the wooden caravan floor as I ate, and the glorious smell of fresh rabbit drifted up my nose as I scratched into the ground the basis of my plan. Now, you're probably wondering what my plan is, and seen as I can hopefully trust you, here it is; track down my ex-best friend, beat her down to the ground and get her to change her mind for the better - which (FYI) is not as easy as it seems. Then I'll get her to help me release Raven (wherever she is), and together we'll return to HQ, Angel will apologize and everything will soon be back to the way it was. Simple.

As I finished my second bite of the rabbit, I turned to another corner of the caravan. HQ had made sure that every dog that joined up got a copy of every weapon that they might need, just in case they were spending some time at home and a mission popped up. And just for all those that are wondering - yes, apart from the romance, action and the thrill this is most probably the best part of the job for me. In this small corner of the room alone I have everything from rocket-launchers to night-vision - not to mention all the other various equipment scattered about the caravan. But my favourite weapon (the least needed thing in HQ) was hidden under the floor-boards. Now you're probably thinking I've gone crazy, you're probably thinking 'why the heck would an all-star agent like you need something that the whole HOWLS service loathes?'. Well, the thing is, it's not very technical; it is on the other hand very effective for me.

I lifted up the floor-board next to the pile to reveal a steel paw-shaped glove. It was modeled perfectly to the large paw of a wolf (aka me) and designed to protect and attack. It also covers the claws, making then appear longer and stronger. So strong that they could tear straight through a tree. I used my mouth to open the clip, and then I slid it onto my paw. When it closed, I felt like wolverine. I love the steel claw, and it'll always be my favourite weapon - no matter what.

Next, I turned back to the pile. I picked out a black wrist band to blend into my fur; it had five slots for various different items. I chose three smoke grenades, one normal grenade, and a flare pen - the exact one I had used to free Texas and Rita from the hideout under the canyon. Next, I picked up a sleeve with a pistol attached to it, and slid it over my front right paw, the one with the wrist band on. I then lifted the head set to go with it, and threw it onto my head. It clipped on like I was a dog from the radio show, and it enabled me to control the pistol with my mind. Last but not least was night vision, something essential if I was going to succeed in this mission.

With my guns locked and loaded, I jumped out of the caravan, and headed straight for the barn. There was a quicker way there than passing HQ, and I got to go through some country side as well, so I wasn't going to miss an opportunity like this. I hadn't visited the 'open air' in ages. After a mile or so, I had come to the Eternity Cliff, the only place in the area that you could see the moon clearly from. And seen as it was now nighttime, I had a wondrous view of the stars and the moon. I knew I didn't have much time to reach Raven before it was too late, but I had to at least take a look. Slowly, I walked up to the edge of the cliff. I lifted my head and looked up to the moon - this is where Ruki had murdered my parents.

I sighed and continued to stare at the glowing white orb in the sky, and memories came flooding back to me. My parents cornered, my dad in front, me, scared stiff only yards away - and then Ruki, pushing them to the edge of the cliff and throwing them to their doom. My past hit me in the face bringing a tear to my eye, remembering this was painful. But I had to snap out of it - I needed to get to Raven.

I shook my head from side to side a few times, bringing me back to reality. All this nostalgia was making me weak - I needed to get my act together. I turned around and headed away from the cliffs. When I reached open countryside I felt free. I had been walking for hours now and the sun was just beginning to rise. My fur was sodden from a thunder storm that had started just a few minutes after I had left the Eternity Cliff, and I was exhausted. The rain was only a little now but I was beginning to tire. I didn't want to rest because I was so close now, but I was shaking and if I didn't find shelter I would most probably catch pneumonia. I couldn't tell which was more important - my health or Raven's safety. Choosing the last option I decided to continue. It couldn't be far now.

As I approached the last field, the barn came into view. I gave a sigh of relief - I had finally reached it. The only problem with my plan now was that it was daytime - I would easily be spotted if there were any other dogs hanging around. I crouched low to the ground just in case, and scanned the area just in case. The only dogs for miles were two guards stood in front of the now derelict entrance to the club/prison - which they had obviously cleared a little so that the dogs living there could get in. Though they hadn't made any attempt to clear up the outside where the barn used to be. All the fighting had left nothing but burnt out pieces of wood scattered around, and a large black circle on the hard, dead ground. The only other life there was the little Terrier I had spotted when I first met Flo.

I decided to go around, and look for another entrance. All I found was a tunnel a few yards west of the barn. I decided to take my chances, and so slipped the night-vision over my eyes and continued into the darkness. Angel's scent was everywhere and even though I couldn't see very much in this place I could tell it was trouble.

After walking for miles down what seemed to be an abandoned mine-shaft a dim light started to appear. A chill crawled down my spine, and regardless of the eerie atmosphere I continued. As I reached the end of the tunnel a large cavern was revealed. There were stalactites hanging from the ceiling and oil lanterns on long thick chains. At the very back of the cavern was a large steel cage, and there was a black silhouette inside. I could only just make out the figure, but it looked like; no, it was Raven! I HAD to get her back, she needed HOWLS, it was her life.

I got as close as possible to see if she was all-right, but by the looks of things she was hurt pretty bad. She had a bloody hind leg and a ripped ear, and an innocent expression on her face. I couldn't leave her here. There were two malicious looking dogs by the cage. They were large, brutish Anatolian Shepherds, and looked like they were a force to be reckoned with. The dog to the right - the male - had a large scar across his right eye - and by the metal tag he was wearing looked to be called Storm. The one to the left - the female - looked a lot less subtle, and a whole lot more ravenous. Her front left leg was missing from the knee downwards, and had been replaced with a very powerful robotic attachment. Going by her collar her name was Chase.

I edged a little closer and tried my best to think of away to get past the guards. After all, I couldn't just charge up to them as if they were any other dog, the pair looked to have a good, strong bond and together their fighting skills would be awesome. I was going to have to think hard if I wanted to beat them.

work in progress

Anyway, I was kind of glad to be home. I hadn't been there in a while, because when I was head-hunted (by my parents) into HOWLS I left, didn't look back and just settled in HQ. From then till now I had been quite content living with all my friends and having just one room to myself. Though I'd most probably blown it now. Shame really. But getting back to the original subject; I need a plan. A plan so cunning that it could out-wit a fox that's just become president at the University of Cunning.
