"Yes, but normal people don't have eyes like mine. They don't have abilities other people don't! Gracelings are monsters!" Aine practically screamed, but then her face fell. "Aren't they?" she asked meekly, genuinely curious.

Damien shook his head. He put his hand gently on her face and moved her hair. "No. Gracelings are people. Just like me. And you're beautiful just the way you are. You can't think things like that." He sighed and shook his head sadly.

Mei grinned. "Really?"

Yuki nodded. "As long as you were with me." She stood on her tip toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Aine shivered beneath the touch of Damien's hand. She couldn't remember the last time she was touched so kindly. Aine was blushing again, but it wasn't from anger this time. "But... he said...my father said..." she stuttered.
