Dragonkit looked away dejectedly. She wished Winterkit would notice her, smooth her fur and nuzzle her face, but he just ignored her. Always. She stretched, admiring the sheen of her fur, and pulled herself up to fetch fresh-kill from the pile. She walked past Firepaw and his friends, due to become warriors. Dragonkit dreamed of being an amazing warrior or leader, but her true desire was to become a medicine cat.

Frostpaw rolled his eyes and ignored Thunderpaw's comment. "It's fine." Frostpaw smiled reassuring her.

Vaporpaw chuckled lightly and continued with her herbs.

Winterkit tried to remember the kits parents but couldn't. "Who was your mom?" he asked.

Dragonkit grabbed a tiny shrew and padded to a tree at the edge of the clearing to eat. She pulled the shrew apart while watching the clan, hidden in the shade of the tree. This was her usual pastime, and she thought she could do a few of the moves the apprentices were learning.
Her eyes were drawn to Winterkit, but she forced herself to concentrate on the moves. She wanted to be amazing.
