inot well planned or designed for easy or effective use
if oliver wright was forced to pick one single word out of the whole english dictionary to describe himself, he'd pick "awkward". or perhaps inept, which basically meant he was out of place. and this year he was very out of place. he had been hanging out with the "antonyms"; perry, rowan, emmett, aiden, deuce, and all their girlfriends. they were deft, adroit, skillful, dexterous. they were all opposites of oliver. antonyms. but there's a fortunate upside to this unbalanced equation. he has done the impossible. he's won the love of jessie corrine falls.
in middle school, jessie was known as the crazy girl. in high school, she was known as the gorgeous crazy girl. that's not to say she wasn't gorgeous in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. because she was. at the beginning of middle school, oliver had nicknamed the popular kids the "untouchables" because they simply were untouchable. but they were the opposite of the untouchables from the aryan caste system. these untouchables made up the small triangular pyramid that sat on top of several trapezoidal prisms. if you looked at them, breathed on them, touched them, talked about them, or talked to them, you'd automatically fall to the bottom trapezoidal prism. oliver hadn't originated from the very bottom, but he was far from the top. people knew him from all the "geeky" clubs and tutorials. he avoided having to do anything with the untouchables, as their ignorance rubbed him the wrong way. but there were often times when they were assigned oliver as their tutor. and how he hated it.
but jessie was different. she talked to him and listened. her eyes didn't wander off and she didn't do that can-you-just-shut-up-and-move-on nod that they all did. he liked her for that, and then summer happened and things got a bit more serious. and this year, they're on the list and things will never be they way they had been before.
