Not posted here for so long! Personally, I'm pretty excited about the movie version of Miss Peregrines home for peculiar children. Its being directed by Tim Burton, and its will be interesting to see how it comes out on screen. Sadly, its coming out until 2015!

I agree! Through the whole first movie I was like "What?! HUH?!? Who?!?!"

That movie. Ohmygod. I almost cried.
I thought for a minute they were ending it with two movies. I almost wish they did.
God, it was horrible.
(Just thought I'd add in my oppinion xD)

Has anyone seen the Mortal Instruments yet?
It was SO CLOSE to being perfect, the last bit ruined it though v-v I seriously don't know what the heck happened. They were so close that they even quoted the book on several occasions! Gah >_<

Does anyone have any suggestions for a new book to read? I just finished VA and the Bloodlines series again, and I'm dying while waiting for the Fiery Heart to come out >_<

@Dobby
Have you read the Nightworld series? I've never read it (I don't really like the vampire genre) but my friends have, and they really liked it. Also, the House of Night series is another one they enjoyed.

I've already read both x3
Aside from the last Nightworld, which I've yet to see anywhere. I don't even know the name xD

Hi guys. Long time no see.

Question time:
Do you judge a book by its cover? Or does a cover influence you to read/look into a book/series?

@HeartOfCoal (Love the pet in your signature.)

To the book cover question, yes and no. A book cover's purpose is to catch you attention (more so than to actually tell you about the book, it seems.) So if it catches my attention in a positive way, it's doing its job. Case in point would be Stiff by Mary Roach, the combination of cover and the title caught my attention, and so I read it. But I walk by a lot of YA, because I don't like the general trend in covers there, so I don't really notice them. Other than when I'm walking through a bookstore though, I don't really rely on covers, since I do a significant part of reading on my kindle and when I really like a book, I get a hardback and put the dust jacket in a box for safe keeping. I prefer the look/feel of books without them.

I'm very guilty of this. I don't pick books only on their covers, but a book with an interesting cover is going to be noticed. I do think the cover tells alot about the book, though

Kind of. If it has a photo of a person on the cover (you know, the YA ones) then I tend to ignore it, because it just seems like 'another teen romance.'
Generally when I'm browsing (at the library or bookstore) I look at the summary if the cover catches my eye. But I'm not going to buy a book just because I like the cover. I'm guilty of not buying books because I don't like the cover, but that's only for classic books that have hundreds of different covers.

@Hobbit: Thank you! It's my favorite episode <3

I should probably answer my own question. I'll admit, I'm guilty of it. I tend to judge the book by its cover, especially if it's something such as:
Image
I know it's bad to assume, considering I've read some excellent books with crappy covers, but it's just natural. I'm fairly certain I would have never read Harry Potter had I just seen the cover. Or Percy Jackson. Unfortunately, it's a bad habit of mine.
At the same time though, I've found some excellent books by just looking at the covers, so it can't be all bad??
