Fern Puffs

Fern Puffs are a small, arboreal mammal that typically reside in dense forests. Because of this, they were not discovered until recently.
They are about 3 feet long, most of that length being from its tail, which is more than twice the length of its body. Fern Puffs live in family groups of 8-15 individuals, all related, however if they discover abandoned or orphaned members of its species they often take them in. Fern Puffs are fruit-eaters, favoring the sweet pomegranate fruits they find. However, the occasional insect is a nice treat they don't pass by.
Their tails are prehensile, and the will use them for balance, and also hang onto a branch as they reach to grab a low-hanging fruit. Fern Puffs are diurnal, and most active in the early hours of the morning. At dusk, they snuggle together on their nesting branch and hang upside-down, similar to bats, wrapping their fluffy tails around each other to keep warm. Often times if you're early enough, you can see the little furry balls with their ears sticking out from them. Their ears are large, another similarity to bats, and they have incredible hearing, allowing them to hear danger from over a mile away. They are occasionally mistaken for squirrels, which they share similarities to.
Fern Puffs typically have colors varying from brown, red, black, cream, and white. Fern Puffs that are almost fully white are rare. It is uncommon for a Fern Puff to have spots. A combination of stripes and spots is even rarer. Their eye colors can be almost any color, including the odd purple. Red or pink eyes are only seen in albinos, which are extremely rare. Fern Puffs usually, but not always, have single-color manes, with the exception of their forehead mane, which can have stripes. Their paw-pad color can be dark brown, pink, or black.
Fern Puffs are a very social, intelligent species, and communicate well with others creatures, especially ones from the canine family. They are a popular pet, and can be found wrapped around their owner's neck or arm, like a furry scarf. They do the same to pet dogs, and will snuggle with them or their owner at night.
Adoption Rules
~For Fern Puffs #10, #20, and so on (if we get that far lol), I will create a special design, so please don't make any more until it's posted. If you do, just keep it in the unfinished drawings section. C:
~You can own up to 3 Fern Puffs as of now.
~You cannot edit your Fern Puff's design in any way.
~For artists, line edits are allowed, but nothing major, like shortening of the tail or editing the lineart drastically. You can change the mane to make it spiky or flatter or not as fluffy, but no unnatural hair styles like braids.
~Please don't adopt a Fern Puff unless you will take good care of it. If you are able to, order art or draw art of it on occasion.
~Fern Puffs cannot be fursonas.
~Do not make your own Fern Puff. Artists cannot make their own Fern Puff, they must win it like any other person.
~Do not claim Fern Puffs as your own. Always credit or link back to this topic if you use it off-site, and ask before you do so (an exception is if you're ordering art of a Fern Puff on say, DeviantART and are using your or someone elses' Fern Puff as a reference.)
~Gift Lines are always welcome! I will put any that are made on the front page for anyone who owns a Fern Puff to use.
