I know the dates are a little off, but I feel like people tend to value dogs a little higher than other species, so would that make up for the year difference...? Thanks in advance!

It wouldn't make up the year difference, regardles of the pets species.
They should add something to their side to fill the gap, but I'm not sure what would fit.

Technically you were overpaying. :) That being said that's around what I see tigers go for value wise. Maybe a little more depending.
