Bird Feeder Story: The Rainy Day
“Hey Shataria, are you awake? I am really bored and its 12 o’clock, so wake up.” Said Rockhopper prodding his friends tail with his paw to get her to awake.
“I am now, no thanks to you.” Said Shataria upset that he woke her up, even though she could still fit in a couple of hours in.
“Oh come on, I want to make something, it’s Labor Day, Shataria.” Said Rockhopper, trying to convince her to do something.
“No.” Said Shataria covering her ears with her front paws and closing her eyes tight.
After a long pause, she finally decided to make something with him. “Fine, we’ll make… birdfeeders, ok? But if it takes more than an hour, I’m going for a swim, ok?”
“Yes! Let’s make them from… wood, like cut the pieces and glue them all together?” replied Rockhopper.
“No, that’ll take to long, how about… we find an abandoned one and repair it or something?” said Shataria, still adjust to the light that came through the trees as they walked.
“Na, that’s to boring, how about pine cones, then we corer them with peanut butter and after that, we cover them in seeds!” said Rockhopper, pleased with himself.
“Ok, that won’t take to long, let’s do it.” said Shataria, walking towards a pine tree next to her and grabbing a pinecone and handing it to Rockhopper and then taking one for herself.
“Let’s go grab the peanut butter, I have some in my cave” Said Shataria, leading him to her cave. “Here it is, now let’s roll it in the peanut butter… like this.” Said Shataria as she took her pine cone and the peanut butter that made one sticky bird feeder in the making. “Your turn.”
After Rockhopper covered his pine cone they headed out for his den to find some bird seed, they walked through the woods and over rivers for a while until they reached his homey looking little den, made from a whole under a fallen tree (sorry I don’t really know where/what the live in)
“Here is the seed, let’s just stick it in and then tie a string around it and hang them up.” Said Rockhopper as he dug his hand holding the pinecone into the seed bag. “Your turn” he said to Shataria as he handed her the bag of birdseed and started to cut a length on string. He cut a length of string for Shataria and they tied the bird feeders onto a couple of branches on a big tree near Rochopper’s window so he could watch the birds from inside his house. Almost immediately bluejays and cardinals swarmed the pinecones.
