"The" Rares List Guide - Do not ask about new UR's!

So, if the rares list takes in rarity, and demand, and everything, and has the pet exactly where it's value is ... how come some same-line swaps are extremely difficult to complete? Like, if the flower/toxic rat is a completely fair swap for the BMD, how come no one in the world will swap me a BMD for mine? I know the BMD has crazy demand, but then isn't the list supposed to take in demand, so it would be higher up? Or if it is supposed to be where it is, with it's demand & rarity, why can't I same line swap for it? ; o ;

The rat may be in the tier for rarity, not demand. Some pets have very little demand, but are high up because they're just that rare. So the rat may be a lot more rare than the BMD, but have very little demand, and it evens out to be on the same tier.

That and add the fact that people like to try and milk the supposed 'added demand' for what they can get the most out of, then it would be hard to trade a rat for a BMD unless you find a rat fanatic who would gladly trade.
The problem with demand is that some people up the rate by deciding to get the most they possibly can out of that pet, and if they're successful, then more people know that it's possible, and attempt to do the same thing, therefore making the pet overall hard to get.
Especially as the BMD is also one of the more coveted pets on the site.
Or at least, that's my take on demand and trading and such.

No matter how much you want to get for a pet, your only going to be able to get as much for it as people are willing to pay. If someone really likes a pet, they are probably going to pay more. And if they spend a year looking for it and they can't get it, they are probably going to pay more. The BA and BMD don't get their demand from sitting around and people demanding lots of pets for them, they get their demand because they are popular designs and so many people hoard or keep them, that they are very hard to find and even harder to trade for. People get frustrated, start offering more, and eventually the sellers realize that the majority of people are willing to pay more for these pets.

If demand went up by people simply refusing to trade the pets for what they are worth it would never work. People either, wouldn't bother to trade for the pets, find someone who wasn't 'in' on this scheme, or just bide their time. Yeah there would be a few people who would fork out the money, but most wouldn't bother for a pet they don't care about. The pet actually has to be popular, it actually has to be hard to find, and people actually have to be willing to overpay for it.

Could somebody tell me and possibly list somewhere how many 09 rares are equals to each tier of the advent list ? :) I was told when trading for a sock dog on the top tier it was worth 10-12 09 rares, and the bottom advents are worth 2-3? I'm not entirely sure about the specifics but I'd like to have a conversion chart written down somewhere ~ just a loose guide

It takes 2-3 09 rares to make a far trade for a bottom advent, and about a 09 rare for each tier you go up. For more popular ones people might want more/less though, of course

Just like to point out that not every gap is worth an 09 rare - it's a common mistake people make and that's very annoying. The grey border collie line is worth 7-8 09 rares.

We are still working on the gaps list so you'll have to be patient and wait for it to come out.

nonono, it takes 3 09 rares to trade up to the bottom. 3 early 09 rares, mainly those that are slowly going very rare now get you a mid-advent grey border collie line.

And not every gap is an 09 rare, some are merely 09 uncommon's. The gaps list will be posted soon.

It has decent demand , not that high though.
