Speaking of which, I might actually choose Fennekin, because I barely ever use Fire-types. (Although I am training a Flareon as one of my W2 secondary team members...)

It wouldn't matter to me if they are both water types, I just take the ones that I love the most
I will choose Fennekin though, because it's cute^^ (first time that the fire starter is my first choice).

I've noticed that in every gen except the fifth one, my first starter choice was a water type, even though I really like the fire type starters a lot (cyndaquil being my favorite starter :3)

You can get other starters on Pokemon x and Y?! If that's true,I'd pick.......I don't know quite yet how it'll work! I'll pick Serperior if I don't get White 2,but I don't know what I'll pick if it's a no. Probably one of the Sinnohs might get picked. This is something I'll answer for sure later.

You will get two starters in X and Y, but only one new one and one of the original. That means one from gen 7 (froakie, fennekin, or chespin) and one from kanto (charmander, bulbasaur, or squirtle)

It'll all come down to what Fennekin's and Chespin's final evos look like and what their types are, but I'm def taking charmander.

I first discovered the Unova starters on the ONM website several years ago. At first I found Oshawott laughable and I wanted Tepig, but then eventually I discovered their evolved forms, which I tend to judge which starter I choose by. Tepig was Fire/Fighting yet again. I fell for Samurott, and since then Oshawott has been my favourite Gen V starter.
