+Name of the Mutato:
Limbo
+Reason for choosing the name:
If you don't know, Limbo is an indie puzzle game. I first discovered in on Youtube, and I decided to watch a playthrough of it. The bottom forest of the Mutato really reminds me of this indie game. Limbo is a beautiful, unique game that really spoke to me. It's in black and white, and has an eerie sort of atmosphere, exactly like the forest in the design. Your forest design on the bottom reminded me so strongly of Limbo that I almost started crying.
Limbo is by far one of my favorite indie games. I have never seen a game like it, with its simple, yet beautiful design, minimal ambient sounds, and eerie lighting. Even though it's not a colorful game, its still extremely pretty. A game doesn't need colors to be beautiful. Limbo has quite possibly the most meaningful graphics I've ever seen. The black and white simplicity of its graphics really matches the story, and it's just such a great game.
It has a minimal story, but it just fits the indie game. It's a video game as art, and the story complements that. The minimal story has such a deep meaning, and if you've ever played the game or watched a playthrough, you're really immersed in this eerie yet amazing world of Limbo.
The main character of Limbo is a nameless boy who wakes up in a forest, the edge of hell. He's looking for his missing sister in this eerie, creepy, dangerous forest. He travels through this beautiful, yet terrifying wilderness. The forest design is so much like Limbo's atmosphere, but it just has more tints and colors. The boy in Limbo goes through the forest, through the city, he goes through hell and back to find his sister.
The top of your design is equally beautiful as the bottom, but it is lighter, and has a sense of freedom. This also connects to me for Limbo, as the ending involves freedom. In the end, the boy does discover a girl. On the final puzzle in a crumbling city, he breaks through a barrier of glass and he is returned to the forest. This is where the girl is waiting. It is unknown whether or not she is his sister, as the game ends abruptly when the boy discovers the girl. It's an ending that really makes the player think. It made me tear up a little, as I had grown such a connection that I wanted him desperately to have his happy ending. I like to think that the boy is free now, from this hell, this forest and city that he struggled through to find his sister. The boy broke through the edge of hell when he broke through the pane of glass, and then he met his freedom. The top of your design is the freedom of the boy in Limbo.
The name Limbo fits the Mutato because to me, the Mutato symbolizes the game. It reminds me of the impossible, eerie, and dark atmosphere of the game. And yet, there is also that freedom, that breakaway from the nightmare. The bottom is the edge of hell, and the top is his escape.
