VENUS

music blared from the speakers throughout the house, and as venus watched, people swayed and danced to the music as if they were in their own world. normally venus would be out there with them, but this time she didn't feel up to it. she had been for only an hour and already she wanted to go home. what was wrong with her?
across the room she saw caleb, her best friend and partner in crime. he was talking to wesley, a guy in her grade and who seemed nice enough. seeing as she wasn't doing anything, venus made her way across the room, smiling and saying the occasional 'hi' to people who acknowledged her. the lights were bright and bore down on the packed room, and she could feel her juicy metal heart necklace cold against her warm skin. her shirt and shorts, though connected and considered as a one piece, was light and loose, for which she was thankful for. she was also glad she kept her makeup light, knowing how these parties could get. her mascara and lip gloss were what she normally wore, but for the occasion she added eyeliner. it wasn't too thick but just enough to make her blue eyes pop. she knew, though the guys wouldn't care what she looked like, the girls would, and venus had to be ready for anything. she wasn't well known for just her smiles and money, no you had to look and act the part too. it was tiring, actually, to always have to be ready and waiting for the next attack, but it was the price of popularity unfortunately.
when she finally reached caleb and wesley, she gave them a wide smile. she stood next to caleb and looked out across the party, her eyes flickering from elliot, her other good friend, to jake, her ex who seemed to be hitting on some nobody blonde bimbo. the sight caused her stomach to twist, so venus looked away to see anastasia, caleb's latest crush and someone who wasn't fond of venus, which wasn't too surprising. the sophomore was a little timid and more reserved then her, so venus tended to come off too strong to the girl. oh well.

hey guys. how're you liking the party so far? she asked, parting some of her hair behind her left ear. her brown hair, which was normally straight, was curled to perfection and then venus had run a hand through it to give it a rough look, which was perfect for her outfit. her studded booties added the perfect touch as well, so venus was feeling pretty confident tonight. while she waited for a response from the guys, she pulled out her iphone and typed a quick message to her boyfriend cola. they were supposed to meet up here at the party, but she had yet to see him.
              to: cola
where are you? i'm at the party and don't see you <3
              from: venus

sighing softly to herself, she sent the message. glancing up at her best friend, she smirked at him before gesturing to anastasia. you gonna go see barbie over there? the nickname she had for anastasia wasn't too nice, but it wasn't mean either. caleb knew that venus and stasia didn't particularly like each other, but venus knew better then to bash her. she wasn't that mean, unless the situation, or person, called for it. plus, she knew the sophomore wasn't that bad, and caleb really seemed to like her. se would play nice for her best friend's sake, just like always.

jane ruffled her hair as she walked down the glistening, wooden steps of her home now lined with cups and streamers. upstairs she had applied makeup to her face, as always. phone in hand, jane reached the last step and looked around. the party was only half full, with still more people to come pouring in. three new messages buzzed onto the girl's white iphone, all of them asking where her house was for the party. shaking her head, she quickly replied before heading into the kitchen and grabbing a fruit punch.

a lot of the high school kids there were occupied with their friends and 'groups', but jane was unusually alone, talking to nobody. renir hadn't showed up yet, and she usually hung around with him if they weren't mad at eachother. taking a sip and putting the red plastic cup down, she walked over to the living room and smoothed her strapless black and white tribal print and aqua blue dress. feeling a bit self-conscious as jane wasn't currently socializing with anyone, she immidiately went to look for someone to talk to.

sophie bruce sat alone on the white cushioned couch, looking a bit lonely. jane bit her lip and wondered whether or not to talk to the girl. i mean, it wouldn't hurt her reputation that much to talk to sophie, but at least they bother wouldn't look like social rejects or something. sighing and walking over to sit next to the dirty blonde, jane smiled and said "hey," looking up at her then texting renir saying r u coming to the partay?

Kelsey nodded her head to can't hold us, which was playing on the speakers throughout the house. she closed her eyes for a moment, feeling a sense of relaxation pulse through her for a moment, but opened her eyes once again to take a sip of her fruit punch. it hadn't been spiked with any alcohol. her gentle brown eyes drifted over the crowd. a few guys had wandered up to her, prodding her with their hands and murmuring sluggish words, but Kelsey had slapped them away and threw a biting threat towards them to send them slipping away through the crowd. a random guy finally walked up to her and leaned against the counter, his eyes twinkling as he looked her up and down. she was about to dump her punch on his head when he threw some loud words to her over the music.
this guy, she realized was mick davis. "well isn't it Kelsey harp," he called over to her, leaning close to her body as he said it. she swallowed hesitantly but didn't make any action to move away. her crisp brown waves flowed over her shoulders, and her long slim legs shifted on the tile floor of the kitchen. she bit her rosy red lip in a sexy way, as she liked to call it, that was her usual move to attract a guy. after a moment's hesitation, she rose her deep brown eyes to his and looked him over. mick was an especially handsome guy, with chestnut brown hair and a healthily built body. he was in her grade at Beverly high, and she remembered speaking to him a few times in math class and in the hall. one time he had even asked for her help, but Kelsey had nervously sent him away, mentioning that she was busy.
the junior girl rolled her eyes jokingly and judged his arm. "I didn't expect mick davis to come over and talk to me," she called into his ear, smiling lightheartedly. mick seemed like a good friend, but she hadn't made a move to talk to him a lot. what she had said was joking, but it was also true. she hadn't expected him to come over to her. she was used to purvey guys coming up to her just to be gross because of her looks, but never just to...talk and "hang out." well, now was the time. "how are you enjoying the party so far?" he asked, his eyes shifting over her face. his thoughts were right; she wasn't having a good time whatsoever. it was rather boring, actually. but how could it be made better? she didn't want to be those girls who made out with a guy who she had a first actual conversation with him.
she shrugged, raising her shoulders and lowering them in defeat. taking another sip of punch, she mentioned, "it's kind of boring. I'd like the spice it up a bit with doing something, but how?" she rolled her eyes, pushing a lock of brown hair away from her face, looking away, embarrassed. "what about you?"

the air brushed breezily against his skin, causing a gentle shiver to travel down his spine. it wasn't a cold shiver, but a relaxed one at that. as his shoes slapped the smoothly paved walkway up to the house, thoughts aroused in Justin's mind. usually he and Kelsey headed to parties together, as friends, and he would just observe the crowd. he liked to watch a lot of things; believe that this person's life would behave this way or that way, all a mask of confusion. many people at these parties never were truthful about their feelings, nor their lives in particular. Justin was one to read emotions and body language, since he observed so much. people might find it creepy, but it wasn't necessarily. it was like a sixth sense, really. Justin could sense what others were feeling, even if they didn't mention it.
like now. his best friend was quieter than she usually was; she was usually teasing or joking around with Justin. they liked to do that a lot. not tonight. something was on her mind, but he didn't want to mention that to her specifically. if she wanted to tell him, she would. "you're quiet," he murmured, nudging her arm gently in a joking manor. he noticed Kelsey hesitate slightly, avoiding his eye. after a few moments of walking up the steps in silence, Kelsey decided to answer as they were about to step inside the house. "yeah. I like to observe, that's all," she quickly said, handing him over a small smile to assure him.
no, you don't, Justin sighed inwardly. that was his job, not hers. but before he could reply hastily, the doors were swept open and they stepped inside, into the muggy packed house. writhing bodies surrounded them, and Justin had to stick his elbows out to keep people from running into him.
"i'm going to look around, okay? stay out of trouble," Justin yelled over the throbbing music. he tried to tone it out, though, since he was pretty used to it. a coldplay song was whistling in his ears as he shoved through people into the livingroom. the couches were lathered in silky sheets, probably to keep from getting the expensive material stained. couples sat making out side by side on top of them. after five minutes of searching through the forgotton-but-familiar-faces, Justin headed towards the kitchen and grabbed a coke from the refreshment table and spotted julieann and rosie over by a corner. his mouth curved up into a slight smile as he prodded his way over to them and leaned against the wall beside them, his free hand settled in his jean pocket.
"hey, girls. how are you enjoying the party so far?" he called over the beating song. now a macklemore song, can't hold us, was playing over the speakers. he didn't ask this question in the usual sluggish way of the purvey guys. Justin was popular, yes, but he was charming a nice guy to talk to.

♛ cody - post one

CODY SIPPER.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxXXxxxxxxxxx
r. status: crushing on tbaXXlocation: the partyXXmood: relaxedXXtags: venus, elliott, anastasia

xxxxxxxx cody wasn't much of a partying type, and most people knew that without expecting anything less of him. he was the kind of guy who'd prefer to stick to himself as a lot of his actions may come across as awkward when strangers are concern. it was simply due to the natural introversion which came with his nature that solely made him, well, cody. truthfully, he hadn't planned to attend a party - and more or less, would rather not in favor of simply spending the night elsewhere and hearing all the scandalous news that were bound to emerge the morning afterward like he did with most of those events. however this time it was different. having practically been forced to come by the efforts of both his stepsister, venus, and best friend, elliott, a few days beforehand via irritating persistence in addition to a tad bit of blackmail, cody made the wise decision to show up - just for a little while at least.
xxxxxxxx which then brought him to his current situation, killing the engine as he parked his car soundly along a fairly lengthy line of other vehicles by the sidewalk. he was late, and quite obviously so, yet he didn't bring himself to care and truthfully, had done it on purpose. even his attire for the evening: a blue button-up, cargo shorts and a pair of vans, had been simple, if not looking rather thrown on. the music roaring from the house a short distance ahead was upbeat and loud, sending waves of electric energy through the air as well as many seismic tremors that could be felt as he stepped onto the grass, and creating the perfect adrenaline-fueled atmosphere characteristically suited for a wild party. it was contagious, cody mentally observed, as his head unconsciously started bobbing to the rhythmic beat of a song that was seemingly unfamiliar to his ears.
xxxxxxxx he entered simply through the front door, which had been left ajar and unguarded for all to cross through. the view on the inside of the house was chaotic and crowded with bodies moving in fluid motion to an imaginary metronome supplied with the music. it was then when he was notified by a series of tiny vibrations coming from his pocket; alerting cody of an incoming text. although not exactly expecting anyone, the source was a bit of an unpredicted question for him. sidestepping the doorway and taking a position leaning against the wall, cody fished his mobile out of his pocket to view the text which had been from elliott, asking currently where he located. he quickly replied:
xxxxxxxx ur distraction just got here. ill go look 4 u now.
xxxxxxxx carelessly placing the phone back inside his pocket once the message was sent, the senior quickly submersed himself into the mass of dancing bodies, mindful enough not to harshly bump into anyone as he quickly slipped past them. it didn't take long for him to find elliott, his quick search ending in the kitchen where he spotted the girl chatting happily along side anastasia, a sophmore whom he came to know as a friend. "i came as summoned," he said, lips quirking upward slightly as he approached the two. "nice evening, ana?" he then questioned upon inspection of the sour look shadowing over her features.

he growled, clearly angered by his father. "no dad, i will not go to soccer camp!" his fathered opened his mouth to speak, but marcus interrupted him again. "or baseball camp, football camp, rugby camp, basketball camp, hockey camp, swimming camp, whatever camp! i'm going to stay in california!" "but you havent even heard me marcus, i-" it was marcus's turn to storm out of the room. his fathered always disapproved of mark's favorites. even cross-country, a certified sport in the olypmics was not okay. his mother was at the qualifiers, and her lack of attention to the thorne family issues was common. her standing as third place world champion seemed too low for his father and herself, but in turn, made their expectations for marcus sky-high. at age ten, he began soccer training with retired olympic athletes. and now, he was expected to attend the olympics. not as a watcher, but a competitor.
pulling on a leather jacket, the night seemed to be more welcoming than his home so far. he remembered jane's party and the eager smile she had on when she spoken of it. of course, more at caleb and welsey. he remembered how right after, someone sparked the conversation on another party, more high-end, more people. sending her a quick apology via text, he decided to go somewhere more disapproving than a fellow friend's house. marcus remembered the address. it wasnt too far.

the ride there took less time than expected. taking a quick glance at his surroundings, he decided upon hanging away from the drinks and food. party food grossed him out, and especially with two health-nut parents, he never liked those stuff. picking a spot with a view of most of the place, he realized there were more strangers than he thought. a few familiar faces seemed to have stood out from the crowd, but he was unable to make out who.

julieann almost dropped her punch when she heard someone suddenly address her from behind. her fingers tightly clutched the plastic cup as she turned slightly to face rosie hudson, one of the sophomores at beverly high. the only reason miss monroe had been surprised was the fact that she hadn't really been expecting anyone to acknowledge her presence in the first place. the blonde scanned the girl from head to toe before giving her a small smile. the younger girl's outfit wasn't quite party attire, but julie was thankful she was making an effort in the first place.

"that's me," her voice was naturally soft, making it difficult for julieann to raise her voice over the unbearable noise. "and you're rosie, right? i've seen you around," she continued after taking a small sip of her drink. it was undoubtedly staining her lips and newly whitened teeth, a cringe-worthy look for the daughter of a fashion designer. "anyway, are you having any fun so far? it's a bit too much for me- i'll admit it," the poor attempt at a conversation probably sounded a bit ridiculous to rosie because the pretty brunette looked about as miserable as herself.

just seconds later, justin corvey appeared and asked the same exact thing. embarrassingly running a hand through her hair, the junior settled her gaze on the polished wooden floor. "oh, yeah. it's alright... i suppose," that was an understatement of the century. she would kill for a chance to make an escape. even so, having someone to chat with could make her night a little better.

indenCourtney heaved a half impatient, half content sigh. Georgia Ramber's dad, Jayson Ramber, had died a day ago. He was a world famous soccer player, and had been good friends with Courtney's dad. It was truly sad of course, but the crimson haired girl had been in locked in hug for what seemed like hours with Georgia. The party would be starting any time now and Courtney wouldn't miss it for the world. Especially since her friend Jane was the host... Now don't get me wrong, Courtney loved too hear about her friends issues; but if there was one thing the girl was terrible at, it was expressing her emotions. The brunette slowly pulled back and wiped her eyes, "T-thank you, but I... I've got to go..." after a quick goodbye and another two minute hug, Courtney made a run for her bedroom.
indenAs the redhead quickly threw on some skinny jeans and a light grey top, she remembered when she'd first arrived at her school. It'd been tough, real tough at her old public school: Grandview High school. Since her parents were amazing actors and singers, everyone expected Courtney too be amazingly talented. But the young star failed theater and music. Outraged her parents though she was failing because the education there was messed up- or something like that. Of course no one bothered too look at the five A's in English and Writing, everyone but Courtney. You see this green eyed chick dreamed of being a writer, but this was just a 'silly dream' for a young girl. When she finally transferred too [insert school name here], Courtney was a shy and ignored for half her sophomore year. She didn't have any high status here, because everyone else was a celebrities child. Or CCs as most kids were calling them. But once her talent for writing finally hit off in her junior year, everyone started too respect her. That's when she met Jane and Wesley, in kind of a silent oath, they both became friends with her. Of course that year Courtney had met her first love, Cody Sipper.
indenHe asked her out, and seriously; how could she say no? Courtney was head over heels for the dashing boy. Plus this gave her a higher status, dating the step-brother of the most popular girl in school, Venus Samuels. But after an enormous argument, and i'll admit tears were shed, their romance was no more. But around that time was when Renir ended it with Jane. So at least Courtney had one friend who was going through the same things as she was.
indenShaking her freckled head, Courtney was pulled from the past straight back into the future as her phone's alarm rang. As the redhead's pupils dilated in alarm, she realized that she was late too the party. "Cccrraaappp..." Courtney whined, and quickly slipped some old black converse on, along with a light layer of red lipstick. Turning her phone on, Courtney rapidly sent a text too Wesley. 'Hey, has the party started yet? Georgia was having some... Issues.' jamming the send button, the girl found herself at the party in no less then five minutes. Steven Ward and Iris Ward lived right next too Jane's enormous house, so Courtney easily walked there. Even before the girl had reached Jane's driveway she could hear the loud music. Opening the door slowly, Courtney smiled as a couple people recognized her and tried too wave her over. Shutting the door slowly, the redhead shook her head with a small smile. "I've got too... Find someone." Courtney had lied straight through her teeth before she even realized it. Who was she looking for? Courtney wondered. Until- bam it hit her like a train. The name Cody flashed in her mind a million times. Taking a slight step back, the redhead felt something deep inside her stomach twist and pull. She hadn't talked too Cody in... Months. Was it possible she missed him? Or even still liked him. But Courtney was jolted into reality as a boy rammed straight into her. "Ow!" she shouted, but the boy kept on running. Glaring in his general direction, she rubbed her abdomen slowly. "Jerk..." she mumbled.

NOBODY REALLY KNEW WHO SHE WAS.

SOPHIE B.sophie's world was a swirl of colors and sounds, both too harsh for her to comprehend. the sway of the bodies around her was making her head spin... but it was also strangely beautiful. the way all of these bodies moved together to the rhythm of the loud bass was hypnotizing, mesmerizing. voices layered over the pounding music and laughter filled every corner of the room. the only disturbance penetrating her trance was the boy's voice chattering loudly in her ear. she could identify the boy as somebody from her grade - hunter, was it? she couldn't remember. he was retelling a story about something unimportant; a football game mishap, or perhaps a baseball game prank. sophie couldn't be positive, for he was completely uninteresting. her attention was elsewhere, though that wasn't so surprising.
SOPHIE B."i'm gonna go," sophie called to hunter, her grey eyes searching for somebody more engaging. the music was pulsing so loudly her ears were ringing, and the boy wasn't helping - he was all but shouting the details of his story in her ear. sophie decided that she'd had enough. turning before he could reply, the blonde turned and began to shoulder her way through the crowd. she headed to the edge of the mass of people, feeling an occasional bump from an elbow, a tug on her shirt. she didn't stop until she was against the wall, trailing her hand across the cool siding as she traveled to find a new, more quiet room. it didn't take her long to find one. spotting a solitary white couch at the edge of the room, sophie made a beeline for the safe beacon in the sea of bodies. once seated, sophie took a moment to fluff her golden locks as her hazy grey eyes flickered around the space. in her haste, her waves flattened and fell limply around her face. running her fingers through her soft locks, she ruffled her hair until it regained some of it's original bounciness, casually pulling it over her right shoulder. her make-up was still clean, thank goodness. her mother made sure that she didn't look homeless, naturally; that's what a fashion designer's life was. making her daughter look good. dressed in a sheer, short-sleeved tan button-up top tucked in to a deep, faded green pair of shorts with a tan leather belt wrapped around her thin hips, sophie sure looked the part. her mother picked out a pair of sky-high nude heels, much to her displeasure; the stilts were already killing her feet.
SOPHIE B.a sudden buzz woke sophie from her reverie. pulling her phone from her back pocket, she quickly checked the screen to see who the message was from. steven's name popped up. she unlocked her screen and checked the message, her eyes scanning across the small text once before slowly tapping out a reply.

    to: steven carrey
text: i'm just sittin on a couch in a room near the kitchen. come find me?
    from: sophie bruce

SOPHIE B.after she pressed the send button, sophie set her phone down beside her. she crossed one leg over the other, resting her elbow on her knee as she looked out at the room before her. it wasn't as full as the previous room by any means. this was was populated by a few couples lingering closely to one another and a handful of friends laughing at their own inside jokes. truthfully, sophie had never really ever been surrounded by a group of friends. she wasn't known to be very outgoing and nobody ever seemed to want to befriend the chilly blonde. she was happy in her solitude, though; the quiet was something she relished. tonight was one of those rare occasions where she actually was willing to immerse herself in her classmates. sophie wasn't sure of her social status among the rest of her school, but she did know one thing - she was oftentimes avoided by her classmates. the few friends she did have were nowhere in sight, unfortunately. she couldn't help but feel a bit lonely among the endless groups of friends she was surrounded by. one could only imagine her surprise when a sophmore - the host of the party, she heard - came and plopped down next to her. shooting the girl an apprehensive look, sophie took a moment to reply.
SOPHIE B."it looks like your party is a success," she offered the blonde sophmore, who she now recognized as jane. sophie turned to look away from jane, her grey eyes seemingly distant as her long, slim fingers absently fiddled with the loose end of her belt. her lips pursed softly, the corners pulling up a bit as she glanced back at the other girl once more. "you're gonna have fun cleaning this up."
