+Reason for choosing the name:

I thought I would give him a FernGully-like name; everyone in the movie has a a very nature-y name, but with a strange sort of flair that only FernGully seems to have. FernGully is inspired by and based in the Australian rainforests, so I thought I would give him the name of a native Australian rainforest plant. Characters in the movie are named Twig, Batty, Root, Luna, etc. Most specifically, I was thinking of tulip oaks, which seem to be very FernGully-esque to me, and the scientific name of the species is Argydendron, so I call him Dendro.

+What is She Based off of?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say FernGully (both the book and the movie). He reminds me very much of the movie: everything seems fine in the beginning, but then the humans, on an eternal quest for "progress," close in and begin devouring the forest. The sky darkens with the intrusion of machines and pollution, but somehow, the humans are defeated, and things go back to, well, not normal, but normal in a wiser, more experienced way. So, he looks like one of the stumps left from the attack, rather forlorn, but the sky is still the same old sky, and life will go on.

Man, you guys all had some pretty amazing guesses! But no one actually guessed what I had based her off of: a wood sprite/fairy. The skyish looking part was meant to represent the magical part of them, while the tree stump was meant to show their natural and eternal side as the rings in the stump loop into each other sometimes. However you guys all made guesses that were pretty awesome too! I loved seeing what you guys saw from her.

Now though, I would like to congratulate Wolf Shadowstalker for winning! I thought your guess was the best and I adore the name you chose!

It's an Old Norse name meaning to have knowledge or to know. Related to what I think the Mutato,s based off of, I see the world tree being the center of all knowledge.
