welcome to washington, missouri. this small town might seem like nothing more than your ordinary minuscule community: everybody up in each other's business, everybody's family living in the same place... but washington's a bit more then meets the eye. that's because every single person in this town has a savvy. what's a savvy? you may ask. it's a power, an ability unique to the person that develops at the age of thirteen. on that fateful birthday, without fail, every single person in the town has or will develop a savvy. the four families that populate the town each specialize in a different kind of savvy - after all, the savvies are genetic. the daleys have savvies that concern the mind, such as mind-reading or telekinesis. the fletchers have physical savvies that change or affect their bodies. the collats' savvies tend to have to do with the natural world: pryokinesis, weather control and the like. and the flynns have all the savvies that don't fit into the other families. their savvies tend to be the weirdest and wildest of them all. but savvies can sometimes go disastruously wrong. sometimes, a person with a savvy so powerful can actually destroy. these kinds of savvies take years to control - well, mastering any savvy takes years. and that's the task that the teens of washington face. they have to control their savvies.
