What is a Volato?

A Volato is a small, rat-like creature with large bird wings that are used to maneuver through the air. Overall, Volatos are social, curious creatures who have an omnivorous diet yet do enjoy the occasional sweet. Their coloration is always bird based, and can range from dark gradients to exotic bright hues, but with slight pattern differences between each similar base design. All of them have at least one special feather called "ID feathers" which grows right after they are born and are used for, well, identification(:

- Don't resell or give away your Volato without permission, if you no longer want it send it back for re-adoption
- Please keep the species on CS, but you can post them on your art uploading site or character website
- No more than 3 Volatoes per person
- Please no co-owing
- No breeding your Volatoes just yet
- Absolutely no art theft
- Please no mini-modding



Information

Scientific name:
- Volatilis Rattus(or Rattus Volatilis) wip
Body length:
- 8.5"-11" for females and 10.5"-12.5" for males, measure from nose to tail base.
Tail length:
- Equal or slightly shorter/longer than the body length
ID feathers:
- ID feathers start growing as soon as a Volato is born and they're main purpose is for identification.
- Females have an even number of ID feathers and males have an odd number.
Wing span:
- 18"-20"
Body weight:
- 300-400g for females and 450-500g for males
Diet:
- Omnivore- fruits, vegetables, seeds, insects and occasionally small lizards, mammals, and sweets
Habitat:
- Forest and country side, usually away from humans unless domesticated
Behavior:
- Very social, energetic, and curious about their surroundings. Although they're usually friendly towards the other Volatoes or human companion, they're very protective about their territory and can be aggressive if threatened by other animals or a competitive group of Volato.
Life expectancy:
- 6-12 years

Breeding
Volatoes usually mate for life, but it is not uncommon for them to remain pair less. Females can breed no more than two times and the average litter size is about 1-3 pups.

Breeding is closed for the time being, but will open when there are more owned Volatoes, no worries(:



Customs
Custom Volatoes will be made with a small fee, though slots will be limited and will require a form to be filled out.
