▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
We are cats of Flightclan.
Come what predators, natural disasters and strange monsters - we will fight and show you the strength belonging only to us.
We survive; we are survivors - day after day, week after week, moon after moon.
We fight to live, to protect and we are strong because we have those we trust and love.
Yet the rolling clouds speaks of ill events. We are to be put to trial once more.
But we are not afraid for we will persevere like the many other times nature threatened to wipe us out.
As long as there's one of us, Flightclan will live and our souls will continue to watch the future.
We are cats of Flightclan.

Welcome to our camp.

thread & roleplay
    All of Tess rules apply
Try to make your forms look somewhat nice and readable.
You can play as many characters you think you can handle.
This Roleplay is Semi-lit+. I expect a minimum of 4+ lines per post. Do not abuse the WB excuse.
Perfect grammar is not necessary as long as you make sure everyone understands what you're saying.
Keep all OOC comments in some sort of bracket.
Drama is encouraged but make sure they don't take over the thread plot.
Respect each other on the thread and don't ignore the other roleplayers.
If you're going to be on a leave please inform everyone of your absence on the thread.
Before asking for a recap take a look a few posts back to SEE if a recap had been posted already. Recaps will not be provided for those too lazy to scroll and read a few posts.
Because I live in an unusual timezone (where I sleep when most are awake) please try not to post over 3 pages when I'm sleeping. Thanks!

About the Clan

Postby Taiyo » Sat Aug 24, 2013 6:05 am

Territory
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

territory
Flightclan's territory is within a deciduous forest where trees grapple towards the sky and leaves form a huge canopy that blocks the sun's harshest rays. With a small river running through the area the forest is always brimming with life. Because of the monstrous sizes of the trees, most of the sunlight is blocked out by the net of leaves and branches often leaving the ground quite wet and humid. While typhoons are rare, storms are not an uncommon occurrence in these parts of the forest and flooding during the time of new-leaf is to be expected.

The training area for apprentices and mentors is in a wide area of the forest filled with pine trees. Pine needles are scattered across the area and tree roots form interesting ledges. It is a great place to train apprentices on balance and sneak attacks. Leaders and medicine cats would visit the sacred Silverfall at night where the moon's rays leak into the water and transform the waterfall into an ethereal view. By taking a small sip of water dipped in silver rays, cats are able to seek connection with their ancestors and exchange words with Starclan.

camp
Flightclan camp is established on higher land, placed to avoid the yearly flooding. Camp is surrounded by thick bushes and brambles, nestled under the shades of large pine trees. The entrance to camp is a hidden tunnel dug under a thick bush and a cat would have to crawl under the bush to access it.
A fallen tree act as the leader's den and the famous spot for those with power to address the clan. The medicine cat den is found dug into a hollow tree trunk to the side of the fallen tree. The ground is colored brown, echoing moons of trampling by the clan's camp. The grass long trodden down to weave a soft bedding.

"Cats with wings beware,
at night when huddled in your lair,

Escape before you wander too deep.

These are just some 'old legends' and 'stories' I wrote. Feel free to incorporate them into your RP posts. Have story/legend ideas? Message them to me!

The Beginning of Flightclan by Taiyo
They were cats that met coincidentally on a fateful night; a night where the earth shook and roared, collapsing dens, houses and swallowing lives.
They were cats, strangers to each other that came from different backgrounds; kittypets, loners, rogues - and they didn't agree with one another. But one cat, pale with jewelled eyes told them one word: "Believe". They need not love or trust the other - only believe that uniting will allow them to survive longer.
They united together that night when the earth rolled beneath their paws and their homes were changed forever.
So the small group of cats travelled together in search of new lands, not loving, not trusting the others but holding onto this belief. The pale cat said nothing; only smiled and only smiled as he scented the wind for fresh lands that weren't devastated by the fury of the earth. Slowly, unconsciously, the cats began to follow - the tom did not command, did not bend but the others sensed the wisdom within and they believed he'll lead them to safety.
They travelled far and wide with each pawstep taking them further and further away from their native lands. Days turned to weeks, weeks to moons until the roar of the earth became but a distant memory. The new lands were vibrant with life, with hope and the cats were relieved to find a safe place to stay for a few days - possibly for the rest of their lives. They were so busy setting up camp they did not notice what the pale cat did.
Cats that met on a fateful night, strangers to one another formed bonds strong enough to resist anything thrown their way. Without knowing when or how, the cats became friends, became lovers, strangers no longer. This the pale cat noticed with a smile and only a smile.
They took on new names, shedding the last residues of their pasts and immersed themselves in their new lives. They developed a peaceful hierarchy that placed belief on the leader. He was nominated and he accepted the position, surprised the cats placed so much faith in him. What he didn't know, what they only knew, was that the cats could only live so happily, so peaceful together because of that one word of his that started the adventure.
But the trials weren't over.
New to the lands they weren't aware of the dangers it possessed. Though the earth stayed still, the river bloated and spilled. The camp was flooding and filling dens. The cats began to evacuate to higher lands until a high pitched scream shattered the air. A kit too young to fend against the rushing tides was quickly being pulled down. Without hesitation the tom soared through the air and dove into the rushing rivers. He was bashed against rocks, thrown around in the raging river until he finally found his center and began kicking his limbs. He found the kit and lifted its head from the waters, swimming with aching paws back to shore. The river sapped his energy and the leader's energy was faltering, he reached the shore, pulled up by the clan to lie on the ground. The kit was crying, coughing but safe and the clan let out a breath of relief until they noticed the staining red pooling the ground. The kit was saved but the tom died. His leap of faith into the waters had sent him crashing into branches and rocks that tore wounds in his side where the waters sapped his life's blood away. The clan grieved for their leader, friend and family. It was then they realised they never knew the tom's name. Not his past name or his new one (if he ever had one). Despite being friendly, caring, he had always been alone. So the cats renamed their clan to Flightclan and gave him his name, Flightstar in honor of his brave actions.
That was the beginning of Flightclan. We are the cats who learned to live, breathe and love and we are strong because of the bonds we share with one another.

Talon's Revenge by jetblack
"Thunder crashed and lightning blazed across a sky streaked and torn with dark clouds. The moon was barely visible, lost under a haze of rain pounding the ground so hard, it was like twoleg pawsteps thudding the earth.
Two cats, their pelts dripping with rain, eyes stretched wide, sprinted through a moaning forest. Trees around them creaked and groaned as wind buffeted them, and the two cats struggled to stand in the raging storm. One, a tomcat as black as soot, turned to his companion and with a yowl that could only barely be heard against nature's fury, cried- "This is hopeless! We'll never get back to camp when it's like this. We must shelter!"
The other cat, a light-furred tabby she-cat, glared at him. "We must try. My kits are in the camp. I can't leave them!"
The black tom gazed at her hopelessly. "Please, Swiftstep, listen. Gentlebreeze will take care of your kits, but if we keep going, we will die. Shelter here until the storm passes, and we can return home in the morning."
But the tabby was firm, and insisted on returning. She and the tomcat kept running, sprinting through the forest as fast as they could go, but to no avail. Both cats died that night, through exhaustion and fatigue, and their Clanmates heard of their death the next morning.

Both Swiftstep's four-moon-old kits were broken-hearted at the news. Her daughter, Willowkit, became shy and quiet. She spoke rarely and did not like to make friends or bring attention to herself.
Her brother Talonkit, though, was the opposite. He threw himself into playing and, when he reached his sixth moon, training. He was always hunting, practising, tracking, training. He couldn't stop. It took over his mind, almost feverish. He took to fighting, because he was naturally strong and muscular, and started battling everything and everybody. He knew no limits and became almost bullying in his behaviour. Talonpaw was rude, loud-mouthed, and arrogant. He refused to obey orders, and when he eventually became a warrior, he was worse. Anybody who interrupted or disobeyed his orders he attacked ferociously.
All the while, Willowstep-as she had become at her warrior ceremony- was the only one who saw her what her brother had become, what he would do. She was afraid, and tried to talk to him, but she had been silent for so long, it was difficult. But she told him, "Please, brother, I can help you. You don't have to be like this. Swiftstep wouldn't have wanted-"
"Do not talk to me about our mother. She is dead now, gone."
"But, Talonslash... She is in StarClan!"
"No. There is no StarClan. There is only the world we live in. Get over it, Willowstep- our ancestors are dead, and they cannot hurt the living."
At this, poor Willowstep was so frightened that she tried to run. But Talonslash's mind had become so fevered, so angry, that he chased his sister and killed her.
He was never seen again. It's thought he vanished into the forest and left FlightClan's territory forever."

The white kitten gazed solemnly up at his mother with huge blue eyes. "Is that really true, Rowanleaf?" he asked.
"Yes, sweetheart, most of it is- but I may have made some of it up."
The dusty-grey queen tickled her son's chin with her tail and smiled at him affectionately. "So don't leave FlightClan's camp until you're six moons old and are big and scary enough to fight Talonslash."
A tabby kitten clambered onto his mother's back. He padded shakily along it. "But you said he'd never been seen?"
"Yes, dear, he hasn't- but that's because all the cats who leave the camp are over six moons old, and Talonslash is afraid of them. Now, go to sleep, dream good dreams- and let's hope that tomorrow, the elders will tell you another story."

The Tale of Two Medicine Cats by F o x f l i g h t -
In the darkness of the night, the shrill yowls of a single cat rang out through the air, startling several cats awake from their restless slumbers. Those who remained awake glanced towards the medicine cat den in agony, eyes widened in worry for the cat inside. A black tom paced back and forth outside the den, his tail lashing and his dark brown eyes widened wit fear as he listened to the yowl of his mate. Two other warriors stood outside the den, preventing the pacing warrior from entering the den.
Inside the den, the calico medicine cat was hunched over a silver tabby's body, muttering orders to her apprentice who was frantically racing back and forth around the den to fetch the herbs that were needed. The medicine cat looked down at the silver tabby she-cat with sympathy but forced a smile onto her muzzle, as if to provide hope for the slowly weakening she-cat.
"It's alright Frostleaf." She murmured, gently pressing her paw against the she-cat's stomach area. Only causing Frostleaf's face to scrunch up in pain as she let out a whimper.
"It's time." The medicine cat spoke, raising her voice so her apprentice was able to hear her. He only nodded his head, moving around the den to where he had been ordered to stand. The rest of the night involved a series of painful yowls, ushered words of encouragement and the snapping of orders. But in the end Frostleaf had managed to give birth to four kits. All pitifully small and mewling.
Outside the den the black tom was able to sense that whatever pain his mate had been suffering through now had finished. He tried to shove aside the two warriors who blocked his only way in, but they effectively cut him off from entering by harshly shoving him back. He growled loudly. "Let me see my mate!" He demanded, his short and aggressive temper getting the better of him as his claws unsheathed.
"Make sure he doesn't enter the den!" The medicine cat shouted out to the two warriors, who only acknowledged her command with a brief nod of their heads.
The medicine cat turned her attention back to Frostleaf.
"Well done." She murmured, beginning to feed the she-cat the herbs she needed. She inwardly shivered at the scent of the blood. Frostleaf had suffered through a painful labour and now, after having giving birth to four kits, needed to rest. Frostleaf was horribly weak and she couldn't help but worry that the new mother wouldn't make it through the next couple of days. She nudged the four small kits toward their weak mother, urging them to feed.
"Thank you Dapplecloud." Frostleaf murmured through her dazed state. She also mumbled something else underneath her breath. The medicine cat acknowledged this with a small nod of her head before turning away from Frostleaf.
______
Dapplecloud had watched as Frostleaf's life slowly ebbed away and she knew, she could do nothing to help. The best thing for the dying queen was to let her spend her last moments with her mate and new born kits. She had sat outside the den, listening to Frostleaf mutter her last words to her mate before it went silent and all that could be heard was the cries of her mate. When she had peered into the den her stomach dropped. The black pelted warrior was hunched over his mates body, muzzle pressed deep into her fur as he mourned his mates death.
Dapplecloud had hesitantly entered the den. Gaining the attention of the mourning warrior.
"What are you naming the kits Crowstrike?" Dapplecloud had asked, looking down at the four mewling kits, who were snuggled up against once another and their mother's fur.
Crowstrike looked down at the kits, then at Dapplecloud before returning his gaze back to his deceased mate. "She named them as she died." He answered, his voice which she had always known to be stern and hard, now weak and quiet. "Badgerkit, Ashkit, Nightkit." He begun, naming the three toms, first the black and white pelted one, then the grey tabby and finally the black pelted kit. He then looks down at the smallest one, with fur identical to Frostleaf's fur, the only she-cat within the litter. "Dewkit." He finishes, looking back up at Dapplecloud. Who only nodded her head, leaving the medicine cat den to let Crowstrike to mourn.
_________
Dapplecloud watched as the kits slowly grew, under the care of another queen. Crowstrike had visited the nursery every spare second he had, watching over his kits with pride. But she noticed easily the pain deep within his eyes which he always managed to mask from his fellow warriors.
Only a couple of moons after Frostleaf's death, FlightClan had been struck with another death. Her own apprentice, Frozenpaw had died whilst searching for catmint, he had been attacked by a rogue within the area who had left him to bleed out. Frozenpaw had not been found until later that day when Dapplecloud herself had noticed her apprentice had been taking a while to fetch the catmint.
Now she watched from the sidelines of camp as the four kits played with each other, tumbling over their own paws. Crowstrike sat nearby, watching his kits closely. What Dapplecloud noticed was that Dewkit was constantly trying to separate herself from the game but was being dragged right back in when one of her three brothers would tackle her to the ground. Dapplecloud knew that in the end one of Dewkit's brothers would accidentally hurt her, seeing they had grown almost twice their original size whilst Dewkit had only grown slightly taller.
Dewkit then let out a loud yelp, alerting Crowstrike who was on his paws in an instant and scooping up Dewkit in his jaws and racing over to Dapplecloud to make sure she was alright. Dapplecloud had to force Crowstrike out of the den so she was able to look over Dewkit without the large black tom peering over her shoulder and breathing down her neck.
"Dapplecloud, what do you do as medicine cat?" Dewkit asked, fidgeting as Dapplecloud prodded the kits body with her muzzle to make sure there were no injuries. "I care for the sick and injured." Dapplecloud answered, leaning back so she was able to see the kits face. Dewkit's eyes were wide with curiosity as she looked around, obviously amazed by it. "Really?" She meowed, looking up at Dapplecloud with wide eyes. The calico pelted medicine cat nodded her head in response.
"Do you think I could be medicine cat?" She asked, surprising Dapplecloud. She sat back on her haunches and sighed softly. "I don't know, I'm going to have to discuss that with the leader." She answered honestly.
Dewkit only nodded, before rising to her paw and heading for the den entrance. "Dewkit, don't you want me to check for any wounds?" She meowed, concerned for the small kit. Dewkit shook her head, "I lied about being hurt, I wanted to see what the medicine cat den was like." She answered, exiting the den. Dapplecloud now sat there, a wide grin spread across her muzzle, amused by Dewkit's little trick.
______
The four kits were finally apprenticed and as Dewkit had hoped for, she was apprenticed to Dapplecloud. Who was glad to have such an enthusiastic and caring cat as her apprentice.
Within the first moon Dewpaw and already learnt so much, she took the information in and acknowledged everything with a bright smile. Dapplecloud remembered how ecstatic Dewpaw had been when she had applied her first mixture of herbs to one of her wounded clan-mates.
Dapplecloud knew Dewpaw would be a wonderful medicine cat after she retired and knew that FlightClan would be in good paws after she left to go join StarClan. The moons seemed to fly past and it wasn't long before Dewpaw has taken on her full medicine cat name. Dapplecloud had named her Dewfrost after her deceased mother Frostleaf.
Dewfrost was a splendid medicine cat, she was a quick thinker and very neat with her work. She was a gentle and wonderful cat to work with and Dapplecloud couldn't help but feel overly proud of her apprentice. Fur now greying with age Dapplecloud retired from her job as medicine cat, now moving into the elders den.
Dewfrost often came to visit Dapplecloud, bringing her prey, herbs and the daily gossip within camp. In return Dapplecloud gave her advice and told her stories, like most elders would do.
Dapplecloud watched as Dewfrost took up her own apprentice, a young she-cat named Sweetpaw who instantly reminded her of Frozenpaw who had been her own apprentice before Dewfrost. She was patient, intelligent, but quite shy. But Dapplecloud knew Dewfrost would do well with Sweetpaw and be able to get Sweetpaw to open up.
The moons past and with each passing moon Dapplecloud grew weaker and more frail, and she knew her time was almost up and that she was ready to join StarClan.
But something terrible happened, Dewfrost was struck with a horrible illness which left her vomiting up anything she ate. She became terribly weak and was unable to move properly without stumbling or collapsing all together. Dapplecloud could feel Dewfrost's pain, and one night the old she-cat had stumbled out of the elders den and across the camp to the medicine cat den where she had basically dragged Dewfrost out of her nest, into the clearing. The two spent their final night under the stars together. Both weak and sick.
Dewfrost had laid there, staring up at the stars. Eyes wide with wonder, the same eyes Dapplecloud has seen when Dewfrost had first come into her den as a young kit. Dapplecloud shivered inwardly, pressing her body against Dewfrost's. "Your mother would be so proud." She meowed softly. Dewfrost had looked over at Dapplecloud and gave a small nod of her head. "She'd be proud of you too." She responded.
Dapplecloud's eyes widened slightly, and her heart swelled at Dewfrost's next words. "You were a wonderful mentor, friend and aunt." She murmured, lowering her head onto her paws. Dapplecloud could feel the energy slowly leaving her body, but she still managed to force a smile onto her muzzle. Dapplecloud had kept her promise to her sister, she had promised her sister to care for her kits, and that she had done so. She had made a great friend within her own niece and was happy to call her family.
"We'll walk together amongst StarClan." Dapplecloud murmured, before her breathing stopped altogether. Dewfrost followed soon after, her organs one by one shutting down until she too fell limp.
In StarClan they had been greeted by their dearly loved family. Frostleaf, the sweet and compassionate mother and sister. Crowstrike, the stern father and Ashfall the playful brother and nephew.
They died together that night, under the watchful eyes of StarClan.

    Personality -------------
Whitestar is known to have a clear and calm head at all times. He is an innovative cat that is accustomed to improvising when a difficult problem arises. His sharp mind is able to analyze the situation quickly and make a decision. Though not all plans end up right, the times his split second decisions managed to save others overwhelm the times he failed. However, taking on the duty of a leader has taken its toll on the silver tabby. He was a sociable cat with a quick sense of humor - however after taking his nine lives the silver tom was forced to abandon his carefree ways and sculpted himself into a cat that the clan can depend on. His emotions were dimmed down and rarely could he be found sidetracked from his duties. Though he still interacted with others there's a barrier the tom place up himself that restricted the tom from freely expressing himself.

    History -------------
Whitestar led a normal life. He was born in a litter of three with his two sisters Featherkit and Greykit. As a kit, Whitekit often played with his sisters imitating the warrior's life. At a young age, he began to develop his critical thinking skills and is often found planning an 'attack' on his sisters. His random ideas and plans usually end in miniature disasters and Whitekit was known as the trouble-maker of the family then. His innovative playful ways didn't go unnoticed and the previous leader decided to take him under his wing and train him as his apprentice. Ever since Whitepaw became the leader's apprentice he had been set apart from the rest of his littermates. It was as if the whole clan could sense the making of a new leader and everycat began treating Whitepaw differently. Whitepaw was powerless to stop the change happening around him and began to crumple inwardly bit by bit. The silver tom focused solely on his training and made becoming one of the best leaders one of his goals. He passed his apprentice's test with flying colors and was given the warrior name Whitefoot. It was not a surprise to the clan when Whitefoot became deputy and then leader when the previous leader passed away.

    Appearance -------------
She was give the prefix "Honey" because of the orange splash of color that covers most of her body and melts into her white undercoat. The suffix 'wolf' came from the agouti pattern she inherited from her parents that creates a stunning impression of a wolf's dark dappled pelt. The she-cat warrior's coat is short and smooth. The darker stripes on her forehead hints of tabby genes mixed into her line, though it is not very obvious in her coat.

    Personality -------------
Honeywolf is a strictly business-business she-cat. She don't have time for jokes or having fun. Because of a sad past the she-cat had closed off her emotions and turned into a cat with little time for round-about words. Her sentences are always clipped and straight to the point - her tone usually emotionless or downright cold. She does not actively push away those that seek her companionship but she's not much of a talker. She rarely show her emotions and is a difficult cat to read - though there are rare moments where her true self would peep through.

Underneath that sheet of ice, hides a gentle she-cat that is caring and vulnerable. When she's alone her vulnerable side would show and one would only see the small, frightened she-cat that is seeking help and love from others. Once you get past her icy barrier you'll notice that she's a great friend to have. Slowly, bit by bit, you'll get to know her more vulnerable side and the warmth hidden within. Being a passionate cat, once she attaches to someone, she'll love them with all her heart.

    History -------------
Honeywolf was the result of a ginger tabby she-cat mixed with an agouti tom. Unfortunately due to the difficult kitting her mother, Sparkfur, passed away after the last kit was born. Her mate Duststorm, overwhelmed with grief from the loss of his mate took on the duty in raising his only litter. However the litter didn't survive as both her brother and sister were born with disabilities and followed not long after Sparkfur's death a few days later. Duststorm, unable to cope with the loss went mad with grief and was chased out of clan when he started to cause havoc and injured fellow warriors. At a tender age, Honeykit was left alone to fend for herself. A nearby queen took pity on her and nursed her as she grew from kit to apprentice. But Honeywolf led a sad and lonely childhood. Mocked because she had no true family, disdained because she'll be forever remembered as the 'mad tom's daughter. Honeypaw received her warrior name during leaf-bare when snow fell all around her and washed everything in white. In the cold, sitting alone in a silent vigil as her first day as a full fledged warrior, Honeywolf buried her feelings along with her painful memories.

Appearance
Thunderflame is a semi-longhaired cat with heavy, shaggy fur. His fur tends to be thicker and longer around the back, sides and belly during leaf-bare as he tends to shed his longer coat during new-leaf. The fur on his tail is long, smooth and silky and is one of the most attractive features on him. The dark stripes on his pelt are sharp and jagged - earning him his name for the bold and strong lines that contrasts with his lighter base coat. Thunderflame is a handsome, sturdy tom with long whiskers and sharp, yellow, oval eyes. The tom is quite muscular and surprisingly nimble. However, his long fur tends to get snagged on bushes and thorns and could cause a hindrance to the tom when trying to flee in a hurry.

Personality
Gentle, kind and caring, Thunderflame is your typical friendly clancat. He greets you in the morning, helps others when in need and does all he can to solve any problems you have. He is a cat who always places others before himself and usually ends up going overboard. He is humorous and loves to make others smile. However when the tabby is antagonized or when his clanmates are hurt, Thunderflame turns into a cold and dangerous cat you wouldn't want to mess with. If there's one thing Thunderflame can't tolerate, it would be the pain of others. When another is in danger, Thunderflame would sacrifice himself without a second thought to save the other - but not without a fight. When in battle, Thunderflame shuts off his emotions and turns into a lean, mean killing machine. His thick muscles strengthens his blows and his usually gentle yellow eyes rages gold whenever he is angry.

While his selfless love for others is greatly admired, it tends to put the tom directly in harm's way. Inwardly, the tom is not as strong or as courageous the others see him. He carries the thought that his life is not as important and therefore is willing to jeopardize his life to save others. While he is loved by many, the tom is lonely within because he is unable to accept himself and constantly puts himself down.

History
Thunderflame was born into the clan in a small litter of two. His twin sister was a stillborn and so his parents poured their love onto their only remaining kit. He was named after the bold stripes on his pelt that contrasts sharply against his lighter base coat. Thunderflame had been slow to mature and childhood was a difficult struggle for the tom. Because he developed slowly, the other apprentices constantly made fun of him and put him down. Surrounded by taunts and mean thoughts, the tom began to believe the offputting comments as truth and that's when he developed his self-depreciating mindset. However, as the tabby tom matured he soon overgrew the others and matured into a handsome, strong tom who excelled in hunting and fighting. Though he now nurses a happy and caring personality, the doubts of his past still haunts him.
