Does anyone else have secret hoards? Like, the ones that you're afraid to hoard so you kinda just mini-hoard them and keep them in a regular group (pets without a group for me x3)?

My Magic group kinda counts, I suppose.
Yes, it has its own group. But it's under my favourites instead of hoards, and... Idk. I don't really see them as a hoard, although it totally is one o:
I never really dared to "start hoarding" them, because they're that set every user only got one of, and therefore, like the 09 St. Patrick's Dog, are something many people wouldn't give away easily.
I don't know what exactly makes me feel sorry for hoarding those (and therefore taking them out of circulation) while I have no bad feelings whatsoever about hoarding List pets.
They're getting easier to find by now, for whatever reason, so lately I haven't been feeling all that bad about it, but I didn't yet move them to my other endless hoards. *shrugs* This sounds stupid and it is stupid and - look, I don't even know why it is this way D:

I also "secretly" hoarded the Spindle Fibre Microbiology Dogs for a while.
I knew I wanted to hoard them, and I already suspected I'd make it endless.
But I tried not to. Until they kept piling up in my Favourite Dogs group and I couldn't ignore them any longer xD
Then I attempted to mini-hoard them until 30. 50. Eventually I gave in and shoved a ∞ into the group name.

i was browsing through my hoards and tried to remember why exactly i started hoarding each pet,and i came to some ''thrilling'' conclusions:

i remember hoarding these little guys because of a gif of Tom Hiddleston(the guy who plays Loki in the Avengers) saying ''God of Mischief has been busy!'''-hence the name of the hoard.I love them very much;plus they're green!

i hoarded these because my mum loved their design,she also gave me the hoard's name which is a line from her favourite poem since she was young:''a letter of goodbye''

look at them wow.after all this time,i love them so much!they were my first ever hoard,which i actually started unknowingly because i was against hoarding as a newbie lol.but then a great friend kind of opened my eyes,and i started hoarding them for real!

I'm always curious to hear people's stories behind their hoards, and I'm sure quite a few of us have a lot that have never been explained in this thread, due to having been completed before posting for the first time or whatever else.

EDIT: I had this posted for all of 5 mins and I've recieved a few trades. I just want to say I will not Overpay for ANY of these hoards unless I send it. If you send me hoard pets to get around my WL lock, it wont happen. Sometimes I will overpay when I'm in the mood, otherwise I pay fairly for hoards [not expecting underpay, i have no problem paying fair!]. The ONLY Hoard I MIGHT overpay for a Little is the Penguin Dogs, Flowers for Daddy Hoard, and the 3 red Jester Dogs I need for the Jester Dog hoard and Rare fluff tail dogs of the Night Mare hoard.

PET HOARDS

This is a hoard of the Aug 2012 flower Dogs. I hoard them in Honor of my father who passed away July 21st. I want 1958 of them since that was his birthyear.

This is the 2011 Snake Dog. I'm a Snake and I think the eyes are simple epic!
Goal: 1989

2013 Year of the Snake CNY Pets
These were for the 2013 year and I'm very proud of the Snake and these pets were beautiful!

I'm a Proud American so I hoard the American Horse.

My father and I use to have beautiful AngelFish all the time.

BHA Horses
I Love BHA [I know her personally] and I love her story of the horses.

BARN OWLS! When I was a little girl, we had a pair that lived in our barna nd use to have babies every year. They are such beautiful Owls.
Goal: 100 - Completed!


I love the meaning of black Ravens and I also love Edgar Allen Poe.
Goal - 20.


The Black Rose Dogs, to me are prettier than the red and blue rose. Maybe thats becaus eI adore Black roses, even if they do mean death, I still find then very pretty!

I LOVED the Black Skull Rat and had a hard time getting one, so when this dog came out I was like, this is as close as I was getting [tho I have gotten the rat since then]. I think the dog is so sleek and those eyes are just wow!

I don't know why, but I just fell in love with this dog. Perhaps they represent my depression.

Cactus Spiders
What is there NOT to love about this litter!? I love Cactus because I'm not very good with plants that require a lot of care. Plus they are just so pretty and the ppd is adorable with the little bud butt.

Strut Your Stuff Poultry
I hoard Chickens, ALL Chickens [Growna nd PPS] [but not the EPPS chicken eggs,they look like pigeon eggs to me]. I was part of a State Hatchery for ten years.
Goal: Unlimited!


I instantly fell in love with the Cockatiel Ponies. My father had a Cockatiel named CoCo which he had before I was Born and i oved that bird. If I ever got a bird again, a Cockatiel would be it.
Goal: 100 - Completed!

09 Ferret Dog Litter
I love Ferrets, I think they are amazing creatures. I use to own a couple.
Goal: Unlimited.

Howling Wolf PPS
I Love Wolves and these pups were just too adorable not to keep, so I kept!
Goal: 100

Blue and Red Jester Dogs
My avorite is the red, but I think both are pretty. My slpit fursona is Jester-based so I had to have this hoard. the reds are very hard to get tho and I would like 3 more of those.
Goal: 20 [mostly completed because all I need is 3 red ones to have a total of 20 dogs]


I hoard both Items this is based on, so I felt I had to hoard the pet as well! Its amazing as a pet!

I have two of these guys... One in my collectiona nd one in my Misc group. I love this rat and wouldn't trade it unless I get something off my wishlist for it, so I kinda hoard it but it is up for trade...


I Love the trees from both years so if i come across them,
I will try and send a trade, but its more of a REALLY casual thang.

Well, most of my hoards are story-less, but I suppose my first sort of does. It was the first month I was on CS (the second month actually, but since I'd joined the 25th of the previous month and so adopted my pets when everyone else's were already grown and such, it was like my first month) and adopted this adorable thing:



I was immediately in love. x3 It was so different from the rest of the litter, and it looked like a slice of red velvet cake. When it grew up, it was basically my favorite pet ever (although that can't have counted for much since I was a 2-month-old noob xD). But I never really got the idea of a hoard. By the time I started hoarding, many months later, the dogs were hard to find and I didn't have very much good trading pets, although I'd been playing quite a while. But I decided to try anyways and settles for the modest amount of 30, and I finally completed it sometime around Christmas '12. c: They're still among my favorite designs on the site, and although the adult didn't have any red in the design, I named the hoard after what I first thought of them as: Red Velvet. <33

I don't hoard them and don't think I could, but I have both of my favourite outcomes (the purple and the PPS), and wouldn't trade them for the world <3

I've seen many people with memorial hoards for pets, but when I see someone hoarding/collecting pets in honour of deceased friends or family members... that's particularly heartbreaking and touching at the same time.
And I'm really bad at expressing myself when it comes to that kind of subject.

I'm a sucker for cosmic/space looking designs, so I end up hoarding a lot of pets because of that alone.

Some have more special meanings to them, others are just super pretty.
Endless Nightsky, the Kaycee PPS hoard, was actually one of my first ever hoards.
Holographic Universe - album by Scar Symmetry, my favourite band
Portal Storm - named after the phenomenon in the Half-Life series
Drift Between Dimensions - both a reference to Half-Life, as well as a line from the song Quantumleaper by Scar Symmetry
Lightyears Away - random name, because duh, stars.
Stargazers - see above
The Illusionist In Everyone - Named after 'The Illusionist' yet /another/ Scar Sym song
Endless Nightsky - another rather random name that just fit
Heaven's Gate - a planet from Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos. Also an album by Keldian, who took the name from Hyperion
Yesterworld - song by Dark Tranquillity




Similarly, I love pets with Winter/Northern themes.
I'm a Winter child, and like cold weather far more than Summer temperatures, so that's one thing.
And I absolutely adore Northern countries for their landscape/climate/flora & fauna.
I still want to visit Alaska and Russia (Siberia!), Finland and Norway, but I've been to Canada, Sweden and Iceland and absolutely loved it there <33
I also have a fascination for Polar Lights, so the glowing owls made me super happy <3

Eagle Owls - easily the most awesome things right after hummingbirds.
Birds of Prey in general - epic. But I like all birds. All of them.

The Mundane and the Magic, Pt. 2 - my favourite song by Dark Tranquillity. Named 'Pt. 2' because I already have a hoard with that name, but it fitted so well.
Tausend Sonnen Brennen Nur Für Dich (A thousand suns are burning for you alone /ratherbadtranslation) - Sun colours. First thing I thought of was the song Sonne by Rammstein, but that seemed like a boring name. So I made one up.
Fairness - in a story of mine, the falcon is the heraldic animal of a magician order, and symbolizes Fairness.
Bravery - same story, different order: the eagle represents Bravery (so original, I know!)
Wit - same story. Ravens, Crows and the like symbolize Wit and high Intelligence.
Rabenwall (Ravenwall) - from a different story of mine, the name of a city
Sons of Dunarkh - a character of mine (from yet another story), Amazilion, is an Eagle Owl. His last name is Dunarkh, which is why I named the hoard that. He doesn't actually have any offspring, but who cares, lol.
Your Everyday Owl - they aren't even owls (Osprey), but they look so... inconspicuous? I imagine that in my owl empire (that I made up for my hoards as a kind of storyline), they're spies. They look ordinary. Nobody would suspect them.

A World Worth Fighting For - Those dogs' coats do have something camouflage-like about them. My association skills strike again - this hoard is Half-Life themed and refers to the Resistance.
Compassion - because two Lightbringer themed hoards aren't enough and they weren't obscure enough. The design of this dog somehow (idek why) reminded me of the character Felia Guile, who is just so incredibly lovely and a wonderful mother and person. She drafts orange, so I have no clue why these dogs reninded me of her.
Fallen Leaves - I know the Warriors character and the Billy Talent song, yet this name simply refers to the dog's design, which looks like a dead leaf to me.
Morning Has Broken - a Cat Stevens song. Because those dogs have dawn-like colours.
