Cassidy Rae McCormick - 17 years - Female - Commoner - Marketplace
Though she knew what his response would be, Cassidy still felt her heart drop a small bit as he replied that yes, he indeed was, as was everybody else. Her feet walked without command, just going on instinct as her mind reeled. It wasn't that she wasn't allowed to go, of course she was, even as a commoner. That was the great part about the ball, that no matter who you were, a queen or a commoner, you could go beneath a mask and pretend you were all the same for a change. The only problem was that her parents needed her help; how could she just leave them for a week or 2 to escape into her own little paradise and leave them behind? And besides, sure, she bought a dress and a mask - what girl hadn't? - but it was nothing in comparison to anything everyone else was wearing, and she'd probably stick out like a sore thumb.
The smell of the fresh baked goods pulled Cassidy back into reality, and she stopped right out front of the bakery. "Well, here you are," she said half-heartedly, looking up at the large, hand-painted sign that hung above the entrance. Mr. Reynolds glanced their way, and she put on a smile and gave a small wave, which he returned before turning to his current customer. "I hope you enjoy," Cassidy said to the man she had guided. "It was a pleasure to meet you."
