I like the new site updates a lot!
Greetings mods, I am the last of 6 siblings who all share this computer to join ChickenSmoothie!! Daenerys Targaryen did quit the site, however Indiago, Chandler's Hearts Shadow_misses_rain and Isabel Forever are still active members, please do not ban us as this is the only computer we have!

the colors were a bit more balanced with the wood theme, but the wood blocks look really ugly with drop-down (or drop up) menus behind them. We might add some new flowers or something to the scene to warm it up a little at some point since it was much warmer with the wood blocks

Yeah, I missed the signs as well. They were cute, but I can understand how bad it would look with the menu.
Maybe it would be better to have the titles of the things in the menus a bit more obvious/eyecatching than the extra text. It's a little harder to tell which is which. (It goes to the same place, but it would be nice to have a visible difference between the titles and the extra text.)

I love what was done with the RP forum. I wish we had a character subforum for the writing board, it is so annoying to wade through all the character threads to find the stories. (Unless those were affected by the RP change and were moved? Some are just story characters, though.)
That's one thing that really bugs me, seeing the character threads there.
I like most of the changes, I'll get used to the ones I don't like. :)

I don't think moderators have begun moving those old topics, but they're probably going to move out of the way after a couple of weeks anyway because people will start using the new board for their character forms and will stop bumping their old topics in the writing board. :)

change is good!
change is great!

but change that isn't properly explained is neither good nor great.

i have a slight issue w/ the no linking extra reference images. i, for one, always have more than one image i use for characters that have play-bys and sometimes i want to link to the whole set and not just one of them since i choose the images for a very specific reason (they fit the character's personality, they fit the tone or mood of the rp, or both) and sometimes you just need more than one reference image even if you maybe aren't roleplaying a character who shapeshifts (which i find completely unfair imho)

i don't see why we can't have one main reference image and then just link to any additional ones? it would save on clutter and be a nice compromise for people who like their pictures.
does this also go for character storages or?

also this is just me nitpicking but i like my gifs and the lack of the max gif size is actually kind of... silly. how are we supposed to know how large to too large when we aren't told what it is?

idk man i'm just slightly confused with those two points, but otherwise everything is fine and dandy!! the new menu is going to take a bit of getting used to and i think i would like it better if it dropped down instead of dropping up bc there's all of that space between the menu and the logo on the business theme and it's making me think something is supposed to be there where if the menu bar was moved up into that space it wouldn't be so weird
(now i'm just being nitpicky but meh)

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.

I like using my CS with the squiddy theme/layout And it looks so cute with the new layout. ;u; I can't handle how cute it is.

And I'm so happy about the new roleplay rules, even if I don't RP. I sometimes watch my friends do it an some RPs were just.. strange? >.>

I also like how the C$ is 'hidden' until you go over the Store. It almost makes me not spend 20 or 10 dollars just so I can see myself having more C$
...Almost.
I'm spending money on pixels
worth it.

the reason we don't want people to just link to extra images is because it is very difficult for us to moderate images that we can't see - but they still get reported by users and even our advertisers if the content is inappropriate. People frequently use "sexy models" for roleplay characters which are sometimes inappropriate to use here, and people also frequently steal characters from sites like deviantart. We want to be able to clearly see what images are being used so that if they're breaking the rules, we can remove them

there isn't an exact size limit on gifs but generally video clips (of real people/real life) tend to be large file sizes because they contain a lot of colors (unlike most animated artwork). One or 2 on a page might not kill the loading time but if everyone in a RP is using those kinds of images then the loading time will all add up and it's going to be awfully jerky and slow to load the page (for people with slow - mid range connections) and then we'll probably start removing them. It's the same effect as having hundreds of regular images, but with animations in particular the file size gets large very quickly because the file has to store 10s or 100s of frames per image

I absolutely LOVE the new layout! <3

Everything is now so much easier to get to, and it's very organized and tidy!
