Jack nodded, and took another deep breath.

The doctor got him on a stretcher, then loaded him into a helicopter to be flown there. Within half an hour, Jack was in the hospital being taken care of. After a while, another doctor came in, this one female. "Jeremy Irons, I have some bad news," she said slowly. "You'll need to be shipped home. Your injuries are too extensive and too large for you to continue fighting. You'll be on a flight back home within the next week."

Jack laid in his hospital bed, looking up at the doctor. ''Who have you guys told about my injuries?" He asked.

The doctor shook her head. "No one, yet. It's completely confidential, unless you'd like us to call someone for you."

''Could I call my fiance?'' He asked.

The doctor's eyes softened. "Of course you can, sweetie." She pulled the cord phone closer and handed it to him. "Just dial nine before the number, and then you're free to call. Just press this button on your bed if you need a nurse or myself." With that, she turned and headed out into the hallway.

He nodded. After a moment, he called Cecilie.

Cecilie looked up from the meal she was cooking as the phone rang. She hurried over and picked it up before it could go to voicemail, holding it to her ear. "Hello?" she answered.

''Hi, baby,'' he murmured, hoping she wouldn't freak when he told her.

Cecilie blinked in surprise when she heard Jack's voice on the other end. "Jack?" she asked in confusion. He never called her at this time of day.
